eats paper

my 23 month old DD eats paper.:eek:
not just paper-cardboard, tissues, loo paper, puzzles, books, ear cleany things, anything like that. WHAT IS THE DEAL? is there a reason? i thought about pica but what nutritional value does paper have???:confused:
im so confused and i have to follow her constantly to make sure she doesnt eat it.

LOL I think its just a kid thing! I used to eat the dog food (nuts), the chook food (wheat and layerpellets), and even raid the garbage can. Mum was always chasing me down! LOL

She has the pictures to prove it too... :o

:laughing: My DS does too. We can't leave any paper lying around. He LOVES junk mail! And we usually have a few chewed packets by the time we make the checkout when doing the grocery shopping... :o

The weekends are the worst here. I have to hide the junk mail or else its shredded and eaten before i can read it!

DD does this too - I think she does it because she likes to watch me totally freak out when I catch her :laughing:

i used to eat loads of paper and paper type things apparently - i even remember when i was 8 or 9 i'd still rip little tiny corners off the pages in books and chew it while reading :eek: i see ozzy munching through the junk mail now and know exactly what my mum went through!

I was watching a show on Foxtel a few weeks ago who had a little 2 year old who ate tissues and toilet paper... The person who was helping her overcome the problem said, that young kids tend to eat paper when they are teething...

Oh, the number of times I had to call AAPT and ask for a new phone bill because the old one had been eaten by Matthew, LOL.

Brooke used to eat bills, receipts, tissues, spiders, flies........you name it, she ate it.

Jacob used to suck on the dogs chain in the backyard. I'd move him away but he was drawn to it like a magnet. :barf:
