Hi everyone,
My eleven week old little boy seems to have quite of lot of earwax coming out of his ears lately. It doesn't bother him and there is no sign of infection but it doesn't smell very nice at all. I dry his ears as best as I can after bathing etc. Does anyone know if this is "normal" as such for such a young baby or do I just have my own little Shrek?!

Hi,
I'm not sure if it's "normal",but if it's smelly I'd probably go to the doctors to make sure there isn't any infection, just to be on the safe side. :)
LOL at the shrek comment!!

Hi Shreks mum !! :D:D

I am guessing that this is just the normal 'flow' of wax that is meant to keep our ears safe from infection etc. It probably would be more of a problem if the wax did not 'come to the surface' at all - you know - like what happens if ears are cleaned with cotton buds, causing the wax to pack down in a hard lump, stopping the natural movement of wax to the outer ear. If you are concerned about the smell, it would be an idea to have it checked by your nurse or GP ... to put your mind at ease at least!

... but keep in mind the up-side to this, is that you will never be short of candles in a power failure - with all that extra wax :D
