When my third little girl came along I thought she would be a breeze.......nope!!! Unhappy, windy and constantly squirming, OMG I thought this is not what I envisaged, my older girls 14 and 9 were constatnly asking why is she so unhappy! Intially started with all the wind products in the world, donnalix offered some relief, took my poor bub to the chiro who instructed me also to remove wheat from my diet and giver her a baby probiotic (powdered) before each feed to help wiht fermentation. Skeptical at first as it was in the 'too hard basket' as I was feeling defeated and worn out! Well I can say we have a new baby! and the whole family is happy, the kids even notice the difference and comment on anything I eat in case it contains wheat.
This week bub turned 10 weeks and she has been so fabulous I thought that maybe she had grown out of the wheat intolerance thing and I can go back to having an 'easy' sandwich for lunch of some biscuits and cheese etc!!! Big mistake and now I feel terrible as bub is squirming and uncomfy again, not as bad as before but not perfect like she was!! back to wheat free again! Can be difficult due to having to eat to keep up my milk supply but I keep lots of left overs in the fridge like gluten free canellloni, pasta etc. Something quick to heat up and white wings make a fabulous gluten free flour I just sustitute for normal flour in any recipe now!! Still can be diffucult but sooooooooooooo worth it!
I also found she was feeding for comfort which was not helping our cause, below is a link from the ABA on oversupply I found very useful: http://www.breastfeeding.asn.au/bfinfo/lactose.html
Hope this helps some other poor Mum and Bub in a similar situation. Pls let me know if it works for u too! ? Worth a try when ur bub is unhappy!

Hi lissylou72 thanks for sharing this info! And thanks for your reply re: BabyBiotic. Is this stuff kept in the fridge? I've found a website selling it, but wonder if it will be ok to have sent through the post as it will not be refrigerated??

Has to be refrigerated so i would probably try to get it locally, heat would deteriorate the product, not a cheap item either.

Rang the wellness centre that is selling it and the receptionist said that it is ok to post (said when they spoke to manufacturer they were assured it would be alright to do so) and that it really only needs to be refrigerated once it is opened  Anyway I went ahead and ordered it and am having it sent express so that will mean less time in transit.

I probably should have rung the manufacturer directly and asked where the nearest distributor was...didn't think to do that until now *stupid* put it down to sleep deprivation and desperation lol :o

Lissylou, I actually had a very similar situation with my dd2, who is nearly 3.5. Wheat (not actually gluten, just the wheat, strangely) was a big problem for her, as was dairy.

Oversupply made things difficult too ... I had too much foremilk, had to express off a bit before feeding, so that she would get mostly the hindmilk rather than fill up purely on foremilk.

I'll hope that your child won't follow Sofia's pattern fully ... her digestion issues faded around 6 months to be replaced by eczema ... all the same triggers. And now, at 3.5, I have just taken wheat, dairy AND egg out of her diet to try and improve her general health (her immune system isn't great.)

And she is taking probiotic powder, childrens vitamins and minerals, fish oil and zinc!

It's so hard to stick with, but as you say, the results speak for themselves.
