View Full Version : A Little Nervous
Love is all you need

Our wedding is in 10 days (:smiliedance: :flowerz:) and I am really excited and everything is just about organised except now we have hit one glitch...well for the girls anyway.
I had my trial with my hair and make up artist and was really happy with her and took about an hour and a half for my trial and there wasn't too much changing and fixing things up it was basically just doing the hair and make up.
So now I confirm the timing for hair and make up last week and she has just gotten back to me saying that she will be at the location at 10 to get our hair and make up done.
I need to be ready by 1:45 I also have 3 bridesmaids and a junior bridesmaid that needs to be done in this time so she is saying that 3 and a bit hours is plenty of time to get 5 peoples hair and make up done when it took an hour and a half for mine ALONE....I am so nervous and annoyed now I don't want this to be rushed and this is the one thing I wanted to pay extra for so I can get a good result.
Sorry just needed to vent....I don't know what to do and highly doubt I will find anyone else this close to the wedding...:hair::mad:

Did you ask her if she could come earlier? Maybe if you explained to her that you don't want to be rushed otherwise you will be stressed, she might organise to come earlier. Not many people want to deal with a stressed out bride!

I would check if she is bringing an assistant?
Also the bridesmaids will not take as long as you, but I agree it sounds as though the timing is a bit off. Also when I got married I went last for hair and makeup- whereas I should have gone first or in the middle so not as rushed.
If you go first, then she can do quick touch-ups before she leaves.

No it is just her - Ahhh I didn't think about that I was thinking of going last so I was the freshest but I guess it would make more sense to go first to have it not rushed and then to get touched up as you said.

I wonder if you could find someone else to do your bridesmaids that could come earlier and you just get her to do you at 10am. It won't hurt to ring around and ask.

Hi there
I got married in March and had hair and make-up done for 6 people (me, mum, 4 bridesmaids) in a couple of hours... The thing that helped was getting everyone up early and (depending on hair style) having everyones hari washed, dryed and straightened (without taking too much volume out) so the hairdresser had a "blank canvas" to work with rather than her having to blow dry to even/smooth and then begining the styling. It cut hours off the time.

We're starting at 8am for a 3pm wedding, with me, 2 bridesmaids, mum & nan.
If it were me, id see if i could find someone else to do a few people.

Maybe get the bridesmaids to do the basics before she gets there? As another poster said, wash and dry their hair and moisturise maybe foundation, if they're confident applying makeup? Speak to the beautician and see if she's comfortable with the bridesmaids doing some things before she gets there.

Hi Girls thanks for the replies, yeah the girls were going to wash, blow dryer and straighten their hair the night before on her orders but isn't comfortable with the girls doing the bases of the foundation as some of them can have items in it which can cause a whitening effect with the cameras...I'm so torn I think I am going to try and find someone else something is just not sitting right in my gut with it all at the moment.

I'd be ringing around, we were married at 4 and I had me and four bridesmaids and she was there at 8am, hair and makeup were done by 2 from memory which gave us plenty of time to get in our dresses and do some photos before leaving.
I can't believe she'd book two in for the same day, that's really odd. Hope you can work it out and good luck and happy day!

Thanks JAW I know it's really odd and I feel sick and am not happy because the first hair trial I had I loved and unfortunately at the time we didn't have enough to secure the deposit and then she couldn't hold the date any longer and I am so afraid to ask her (as I felt ashamed about the money issue) to see if she is available.

Ah hon, if the hair and makeup woman booked you at that time knowing how many women she had to "do" I think she'll have it under control! I remember being worried myself about getting our hair done/timing etc when I got married, and you know, it all worked out fine!!
How are the bridesmaids having their hair?
When I got married,I had to be ready by 2pm,we started getting ready at 9am and in the end,we were rushing(and I only had 2 bridesmaids-one who went to hairdresser herself at 8am!)
My sister curled my hair for me,and ended up doing my other bridesmaid.
I would have a back up plan just in case.My Mum thought we were crazy starting out at 9am,and was wondering what we were going to do to kill time-but honestly it went sooo fast-she admitted she was wrong:laughing:

Thanks quitecontrary I am trying to calm myself down but to have 5 peoples hair and make up done within 4 hours just doesn't add up I know the consult takes longer and I could understand if it was easy hair styles but I'm wanting up and curls for all 4 girls....
I hope I am stressing over nothing but I am just so worried.
