Hey ladies

I am 8 weeks pregnant, have had 2 u/s one at 6 weeks and one at 7 weeks 4 days and all good. Last night, I had brown blood in my pants. It was about the size of a start of a period (you know when you go to the toilet and see it in yr pants, then you bleed properly the next day). anyway I freaked out when to ED and was sat there for ages and nurse said that they wouldn't be able to give me u/s anyway as there was no one there after hours, so in the end I gave up waiting and went home as I had no pain and wasn't gushing. it was just bit of brown stain on loo paper when i wiped.
I called concept who I am discharged from and they said its common and to rest!!!
So I called my GP who doesn't start till 11am and spoke to the nurse who said that an ultrasound at the stage would do more harm???? She is going to talk to the Dr when she comes in at 11am, but thinks that there will be nothing they can do......
WTF do I do, why can't I just get an u/s to put my mind at rest???
I don't want to be walking around for the next 4 weeks thinking i'm preg and everything ok if its not and then get to my 12 week scan and find out then.....

Any advice??

Laura, I couldn't read & not post! I dont really have any advice, except to keep pushing for that US! And remember that so many women have some sort of bleeding during their pregnancy - the good thing is it's brown & not red.

I am 7 weeks tomorrow, & booked in for my first scan on Monday, but I had some brown when I wiped on Saturday morning (only the once), & then again on Sunday morning (again only the once). I freaked out too, but then calmed down & realised I still had all my symptoms (exhausted, stretching pains, sore boobs, cravings), & that the most important thing was that the blood was not red.

But keep pushing for the US - someone will listen to you & do it, & it will put your mind at ease.

Best of luck, please keep us posted on how you go :fingerscrossed:

Hi Laura,

I had some brown spotting for a couple of days when I was around 7 weeks. FS said as long as it's brown then it's old blood coming through and nothing to worry about. I was given an U/S the following day to confirm all was okay and it was.

So many ladies spot or bleed during early pregnancy and it doesn't effect bubba.

Keep pushing for that ultrasound, it makes no sense that they wouldn't give you one just to put your mind at ease.

Hugs to you hun, I know that sinking feeling when you see some colour on the toilet paper or your underwear, but sounds like it's similar to what I and quite a few other women had. :hugs:

thanks for your replies ladies, it turned red, so I went to ED and insisted on a scan, they did an internal and external, it showed bubba perfect with /h/b of 167 bpm, they said all looked fine and well and did not know why I was bleeding.

They have taken betas and will have to go and have another tomorrow to make sure they are still rising.
It has scared the pants off me, I was just starting to get excited too........
thanks again for your words of re-assurance, its gone back to brown now, so I am just going to rest till tomorrows appointment and hopefully they might give me another scan in a week xxxx

Hi Laura - I had a bit of brown spotting early on and when I rang concept they said as long as it was brown it was okay. Apparantly as the embryo expands it can rub against some blood vessels and cause a bit of bleeding, and then if we move about too vigorously the old blood can start to leak a bit. You'll probably find that if you rest the bleeding will stop and if you do any vigorous activities like vaccuming etc this may bring on the spotting again.

I'm glad the U/S was able to put your mind at ease.

Hi Laura - I had spotting from around the 8 - 11 week mark. It was brown and red. Turns out the brown was the implantation bleed making its way out and the red could have just been an irritated blood vessel or cervix. I freaked out, but it turns out it was nothing. I have since had one bright red big bleed, but they never worked out what it was and it stopped on its own. Oh the joys of pregnancy ... a little blood ... a major panic.

Thank you for all your supportive posts I really love you ladies on here.

I keep telling myself to chill out and that lots of ladies have had it, but I still cant stop being a nervous wrek, which I suppose is natural. This morning I am passing small brown clots. I see the gp at 12.45 today and I took a photo of the clot to show her. Do you think that is gross? Did any of you have clots in your bleeds?

I will try and relax and rest up, this being pregnant business is a full time worry isn't it:( and I thought TTC was the hard part!

I will keep you all posted xxxxx

Laura - Hey there, Im a bit late posting but I just wanted to say that I had brown blood a week before my actual BT (thought it was all over) and it only stopped properly just over a week ago. It was every day, enough to wear a pad, and also quite 'clotty' as you described.
Im 9 weeks now. My docs also advised to rest, no physical activity as such, no BDing either. Good luck x

Hi Bonnybaby

I was wondering how you were as I thought I could remember you saying that at one point. It is amazing how many people have had it. Glad to hear your all ok and its stopped now.

I am getting my second beta results today, but I am not as worried anymore now, due to the amount of ladies who have also said they had it.

I am also getting another scan on Wednesday when I will be 9 weeks then.

Thanks for the help ladies, I have been resting up and as for BD'ing I cant even remember when we last did it lol! I told DH we can resume sexual activity when I get past 12 weeks and not before. I keep joking saying that this is the longest we have gone with out sex and its the only time I get pregnant - it really is the immaculate conception! We didn't even BD thought the IVF cycle as I felt so crappy from the drugs:p
