View Full Version : Acupuncture for morning sickness
Hi there, Has anyone tried acupuncture for morning sickness?
I have placed a few posts in this section for morning sickness and this is my last attempt at some relief, Im really finding it hard this time and am hoping acupuncture might help!
I am on Zofran but it doesnt take the horrible feeling away completely just takes the edge off and no vomiting.
So has anyone tried it and does it work??!
Cheers!

Yes... I used acupressure & acupuncture for morning sickness. The acupressure bands helped a bit.. The acupuncture was great and really helped, but the effects only lasted a couple of days.. But when you're feeling dreadfully nauseated, a couple of days releif is like heaven!

I used acupuncture for morning sickness with my first because I was conveniently working in an acupuncture clinic at the time lol. I found it helpful, especially with increasing my appetite but as previously mentioned it's not a long term solution unless you go twice a week. It's definitely worth a go to see how it works for you. It might just be the magic solution you need :)

it worked for me!!! 100% better after each session..and within 3 sessions...it did not return.
Find a pregnancy specialist though....

Acupressure bands worked OK for me, they helped but didn't take it away. I tried 1 session of accupuncture, but it was at the beginning when I was puking 20 odd times a day, and I ended up in hospital for a week that night, so never ended up trying another appt (which they said you needed to do most likely).
Good luck!

I found the accupressure bands did didly sqwat for me (zofran was the only thing that worked) I'm unsure whether the accupuncture would work for me and I don't want to waste heaps of money trying (I need dh to take time off work to drive me because of my heart issues) anyone been to the zen den in Townsville?? (recommended by my ob)

I found the accupressure bands did nothing, but accupuncture helped, but do agree with the other ladies, you have to do it quite often and if you have other kidlets it can be hard to make the time to go. Hope you find some relief.
Oh and just another little thing. Someone above said they had one and ended up in hospital afterward. After some of my appointments I did feel worse but only for about half an hour and then I could EAT!! :D
Thank you for all your replies. I went out yesterday and got some acupuncture done and felt a million bucks walking out of there. But then, as predicted, feel the same old horrible :( today. I am going back on friday for a second appt and am hoping as the acupuncturist and other ladies on here have said that it will get better the more you have. Heres hoping!!!!
Pinupsez - I live in country Victoria and dont know about Townsville but here it cost me $55 for the first consultation and then $45 thereafter. Probably completely different pricing where you are but thought id give you a price guide. My sister lives in melb city and she pays $70, so a bit of a difference there too.
I will let you know if it works better the 2nd time round.

I don't know if this helps ladies, but, my local GP did all mine, (he is fully qualified or he wouldn't be touching me ) and it was all bulk billed. It would definitely be worth looking into to see if there is someone close by who does it this way
Had my 1st app yesterday and it has helped a little with the nausea but not the exhaustion/ fatigue feeling.
Have 2nd app on Friday so :fingerscrossed: for some relief.
Tried Maxalon last time, it just wiped me out.

I didn't find accupuncture worked for me, if anything it made me feel worse. Maxolon has nasty side effects like fatigue and I couldn't concentrate plus didn't help with Nausea. If it's bad - try Zofran (probably only thing I can manage with)
