I went looking for a microfleece blanket to cut into nappy liners, but only found ones which either said 'polar fleece' or 100% polyester (but still had that fleecy texture)....

sorry if it is a dumb question, but are they the same thing?

Also, I imagine I need to make them a bit wider than the width of the terry nappy folds, so they protrude out a bit around my baby's legs (to stop dampness getting to his thighs - will this work or will it just wick straight out onto his legs...?

basically, does anyone know the ins and outs of using microfleece as a liner? and if polar fleece is different, can it still be used as a liner?

I got really thin polarfleece as they said it was the same stuff

I bought a metre of Microfleece at Spotlight and just cut it into pieces. I made rectangles about 25cm long and 15 cms wide but I cut in at the sides. Kind of kidney shaped on both sides. The spotlight lady told me the difference between polar and micro is just the thickness of the weave.
Mine are about the same width as the nappy. I think if they stuck out you might actually get leakage. Hope this helps!:D

I also bought a metre of micorfleece from spotlight, then cut long thin rectangles that fit inside a folded terry nappy. I wouldn't recommend cutting them wider than the nappy though. Micorfleece makes fantstic liners.

I forgot to add. You don't need to hem it either. Just cut and go!

Excellent! I had went ahead and bought a small polar fleece blanket because it was so cheap - I will get chopping!

btw....do I wash them with the terrys (I just use half normal amount of mild washing soap in a 30min 40degrees wash, with no fab softener) or do I wash differently? (I'm assuming it all goes in together?)

Sorry if these are obvious questions....:o I'm so new to this!

(It's crazy....had I known that using terrys was so darn straightforward, I'd have been a clothie right from DS1! it took me 4 kids to work this out..... )

Just wash them all together will be fine :)

Thanks for all your help

I've been using them and wow they are brilliant! I'm going to go and get some more, as I was able to cut 12 from this one blanket, but probably need 12 more so I only have to wash them every couple of days.... :D
