I'm almost 16 weeks pregnant and just arrived on the Sunshine Coast from overseas. We're in Mooloolaba so SCPH is the closest but I see some negative comments online about the maternity ward. I notice that they're all at least a couple of years old however. Is it better now? Should I go to SCPH or Selangor? I have PHI so prefer one of those two.
Which OB? Will I even get a choise of which OB this late? Desperately seeking advice! Will be C-Section so I'm not concerned if either usually hospital has a habit of going that direction.

I'm due on 3rd Feb but I'm pretty sure they'll schedule the C-Section late January. I couldn't find the due January thread (but I'm new to the site so don't really know my way around yet). Can you post a link for me?
A friend of a friend recommended James Moir at Selangor but after some research I see he only delivers at SCPH now. Selangor keeps coming up but the OB recommendations keep working out of Buderim. So confused!!!! I wonder if SCPH is better now that they have a new maternity ward???

I had my DD at SCPH last year and I couldn't be more happier with my experience.
When I was there in early 2009 yes the maternity ward was shared by the surgical ward... but they were on opposite sides of the ward.
The widwives were lovely and the food was to die for, I will definately go back if I have another bub..
Any questions please feel free to pm me :yelclap:

Hi JCMooloolaba, just wondering how you went making your decision - which did you decide?
A friend has recently recommended Selangor...so will check it out. Now I need to find an OB.
Does anyone else have opinions on Selangor and/or know of any OB's at Selangor in Nambour?
Thx!

George Bogiatzis is great. I used him with DS's birth, the recent D&C I needed, and he's also delivered a couple of my friends first and second bubs. He's very kind and reassuring and super professional.... oh, and cheaper than Kirsten with the management fee too ;)

Thanks CluckySC. You must have esp as was just reading the Medical Expenses thread and wondering if the OBs would differ in price! :)
I might just give a few of the OBs a call on Monday to see who can fit me in and find out the costs. But its good to know so many from there come so highly recommended... I feel like I couldn't go wrong. Thx again.
