Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone else is trying chinese medicine to try and conceive. My DH & I having been trying for almost a year with no luck. Two months ago we saw on Extra this guy named Andrew Orr at Shen Theraphies www.shentheraphies.com.au and he has a good success rate with helping women to concieve so we thought we would give it a go. It's early days yet but I really enjoy going there and Andrew is very nice.
We have also decided to see a specialist to go on clomid as we are both getting really impatient.
I would love to hear what everyone thinks of both methods.

I saw an acupuncturist and had that plus chinese herbal medicine for a couple of months... that was before I found out I had PCOS...
I started doing it hoping it would bring a cycle on for me however then I found out I had PCOS which answered allot of questions. I am on my first round of Clomid (and have ovulated over the weekend for the first time YAY!) and personally didnt see much of a point in doing both treatments, mainly money wise as the acupuncture and herbal medicine was costing me about $80 a week.
However I was seeing a guy in Adelaide who specialises in fertility and I know he has had great success. I just personally didnt feel it was going to greatly help me and felt that Clomid on the other hand would. And on the first Clomid cycle it has but after a couple of months with accupuncture and chinese herbal medicine I had no changes at all.
I wish you luck! :fingerscrossed:
for anyone looking for natural therapies in there area check out this web directory http://www.naturaltherapypages.com.au/

Hi Nicole,
Yes it can be quite expensive, I am popping so many supplements and they are not cheap and I also get acupuncture twice a month so when we do go down the clomid path I think we will also give the natural medicine a miss as we won't be able to afford both....who would have thought that trying to get pregnant would be so expensive! We are getting desperate and want to try everything possible to make it happen. Have you had many side effects from clomid?
Michelle
Good luck with it, yes, i know exactly how you feel with all the supplaments! I am also seeing a naturopath/nutritionist once a month!
I didnt have ANY side affects from Clomid, i was starting to think that it wasnt working because I felt so fine! However the fertility place said to take it just before going to bed as you wont feel the side affects then (because you will be asleep!)
Of course I only started on 50mg and perhaps as the dosage gets higher you notice more symptoms...
I am getting blood tests done this month to check that I am ovulating and my hormones are doing the right things. Then we are trying www.fertilemindandbody.com.au - we have heard some really positive stories about this clinic. We have been ttc about 9 months and we want to try a herbalist before we have to decide to see a fertility specialist - and hopefully we won't have to :fingerscrossed: Good luck to everyone else too ;)
DH and I just visited a chinese herbalist for the first time on the weekend. I was diagnosed with a 'cold uterus'/yang deficiency, which made a lot of sense to us, as my GP said we are both very normal (I ovulate regularly and DH spermies are fine) and so couldn't do anything for us. My uterus is apparently not creating a nuturing enough environment for a fertilised egg to want to stay. My GP advised me against clomid and said we'd be much better off just continuing to try naturally. That's because I ovulate normally and taking clomid would just increase the chances of a multiple birth.

Hi Chicken - I am glad you at least have some answers now. Can the herbalist help with a cold uterus? I have heard lots of good stories about herbalists helping couples get pregnant lately. I hope things go well for you :fingerscrossed:

Hey, I went to Andrew Orr, not for conception issues, but during my last pregnancy as the dude was breech... I don't know if it was Andrew or nature, but the dude did turn...
I adored Andrew, what a lovely guy... and I don't know if you get the massage before the acupuncture, but I would go and see him just for that .
Good Luck!

I certainly hope the herbalist can help with a cold uterus!!!! I've got three different types of pills to take at various stages of my monthly cycle. I've got some pills to increase blood flow and then other pills to warm me up (I think!). Its just nice to feel like I'm doing something.

Hi girls,
Well I got AF today so yet another month gone :( oh well I'll continue with the herbs and vitamins for another cycle then it's off to the specialist. Both my DH and I have been tested. His spermies were alittle slow so Andrew gave him some supplements to correct that and I am ovulating normally so it's just a matter of keep on trying.
lukaelmo- yes I get the message before hand and it's fantastic and while he's doing the acupuncture he puts a heat lamp on the needles which feels great, I have a hard time not falling asleep! I'm really lucky I live just around the corner from them so it's a short stroll....who am I kidding it's quick minute in the car.
chicken- I have never heard of the term cold uterus, have you looked it up on the net to see if anyone else has had something similar?
I don't know about anyone else but I'm trying anything that I read on the net. I read somewhere that if you drink grapefruit juice before ovulation it's suppose to help you o and drink pineapple juice after ovulation to help with implantation. I have been doing both. I also drink green tea & raspberry leaf tea because this too is suppose to help.
Oh and another thing that I'm doing is taking evening primrose as this is suppose to help with CM. Yah i might be going a little overboard but if it will get me pregnant in the end it's all worth it!
Sorry I've waffled on long enough!

Yes, there's heaps of stuff on the net about cold uterus. If you look up 'cold uterus' and 'yang deficiency', it will explain all about it. So I'm taking pills to increase my blood flow and to warm me up, to assist with implantation. It seems to fit with DHs theory that starting to exercise was what made me p/g on cycle 9 (chemical) and 10 (m/c). I started going to the gym around that time, and he seems to think that must have helped improve my circulation. So I think I'm going to start exercising again too - it can't hurt anyway.
PS I've tried evening primrose oil to help with CM. It didn't do anything for me, but hopefully it works for you.:fingerscrossed:
