Hello Ladies,
I know that the accuracy of determining gender via ultrasounds these days are more than 90% which is quite high.
Just after 20 weeks of my pregnancy (i'm 33 weeks now), i've had a couple of gender scan at my routine check up at the doc's office.
I was pointed out a scrotum, yep, i was told it's a boy! Last week i went there again and asked for another confirmation, my doctor again said she was sure it's a boy because she could point out the scrotum from a potty shot angle. However, the potty shot was soooo girly (exactly just like what i've seen a couple of times previously) though that makes me wonder whether it was actually a boy or not! If it's a boy i was expecting to see the classic turtle. She also added she was sure the penis was hiding and 'stuck' between the umbilical cord. therefore it was not present when she showed the potty shot image to me.
I probably don't have doubts that it's a boy because: 1) no labia folds, 2) no three distinct lines that show classic girl bits.
But i am still clinging to the hope that it could be a girl because: 1) it was not the classic turtle shot. 2) scrotum did not look bulbous enough. 3) the potty / butt bits look very clean with no portruding bits. 4) Have heard stories that labia can be a bit more filling out by this stage, that it's so swollen and resembles a scrotum.
I don't have any image of the ultrasound unfortunately :(
From my description, does this lean more towards a boy or a girl? i know it's hard to judge without an image.. It could be it's 100% boy because i'm sure the doctor knows more than i do and she uses ultrasound machine everyday!! Plus the absence of the penis must not be taken into account that it's a girl - any experienced doctors would know this and the fact that the 'scrotum' does not look like a labia it makes it a strong evidence it's a boy!
However judging from my point of view, i could also call this a girl because of the absence of the classic turtle... it's driving me crazy because i'm still not believing this is a boy . Maybe that's why there are still people being mistakenly told it's a girl where in fact it's a boy because a potty shot can look so girly and the classic turtle is absent.
