Hi All,

We just had our first ob appointment today which was very exciting however he was pushing us to have a c-section. So I am wanting to hear from others how you delivered your twins? Was natural on option with your ob?

hi, I delivered my twins naturally and there are a few others who have done this. I would not be wanting to be forced tohave a c/section just because it was hospital policy or the obs regular method. Good luck, Marie.

Hi there
Congratulations on your twin pregnancy - you must be very excited!

Natural delivery was not an option with my ob. She delivers all twins by c-section. I was not initally happy with this as I would have liked to have given a natural delivery a go. But in the end I wanted her to be my ob as she delivered my first baby (naturally) and I trusted her 100%. I was not at all disappointed that I delivered my twins by c-section. I was just glad they arrived safe and sound.

It's such a personal decision though and there are lots of mums on bubhub that will tell you wonderful stories of natural delivery of twins. Speak to your ob about his/her reasons for pushing the c-section and then talk about it with your DH. Both of you have to be comfortable with whatever you decide to do.

Good luck with your pregnancy!

Congratulations! Look for posts by sheer bliss. She had a natural twin birth and is now a supermum of 4 kids!
If you are not happy with the treatment by this Ob, then maybe look around for one that will support your choices.

A friend on mine delivered her beautiful twin daughters naturally in January of this year.

Did her Ob agree? No! So she went along planning to have a C-Sec, both her twins were also breach. She has birthed her first child naturally and was a little disapponted with the impending C-sec.

Anyway the night before her c-sec (around 38weeks) she went into labour naturally. When she got to the hospital she was about 7cm dialated and asked if she wanted to give it a go naturally, of course she did. The first twin was now head down and ready to go. A few hours later her girls were born without any dramas. First one head down, other one breach. All fine and she went home within 2 days :)

How awesome is that :)

I've supported a Bubhub (Sheer Bliss)mum who vaginally and naturally birthed her twins.
You dont have to have a c/section, challenge your OB and if they don't agree then find one that does support you:flowerz:

my sisters twins were vb, but with an epidural incase of emergency, as hospital policy (regional hospital in rural WA)
twin 2 was breech, but turned during labour.

Thanks for your replies and the link to the other thread. Very interesting reading and natural certainly seems to be an option. My ob did not say he won't support natural but there was definately a preference for c/s and he said that twin 2 would be at a higher risk for natural. I think I will keep pushing for v/b but be ready for anything.

I naturally birthed my twins in April. My ob allows it is twin A is head first as both breech can cause cord problems he said. He also insisted upon an epidural in case Twin B is breech (happened with me and with his arm up inside my uterus to manipulate by bub I was glad of it) I've also birthed 4 other kids naturally.

Ring around and find an ob who will be prepared to naturally deliver twins. There's not many, but they are out there. If you're in Melbourne pm me and I can give you the details of mine.

Hi
i also had a natural birth for my twins who were born three weeks ago i never was told that might need a c-section but i also have had previous pregnancy's all naturally as well i would also look around to see if you can get a second opinion and try for a natural birth if its possiable.

Good luck:flowerz:

I wasnt able to birth naturally as I had a breech twin A and a head down Twin B.
It was just assumed as normal practise in that hospital to birth naturally providing Twin A is head down and c-section if Twin A is not.
Are you public or private? You will have more chance going naturally in public than you will private IMO

Just make sure you do your research and find the option you are most comfortable with. I have a friend in my twins club who had the dreaded natural birth for Twin A and c-section for Twin B!

I'm yet to give birth but thought I would share my experience so far.

I'm with Stephen Morris who is based in Sydney. He has always said he is happy for me to try a vaginal birth provided Twin A is head down. Similar to another post, my private hospital policy is to have an epidural. Stephen said often Twin B is breech which is more painful. Also risk of C section is high. 60% I think. Not sure how it will end for me - Im just playing it by ear.

Good luck with it all. Healthy babies are the main thing!

Heya and congrats on ur twins :D I birthed my twins naturally 12 weeks ago. I was terrified of a c/s lol and my babies summer sulted the whole time and only turned back to hea down at 34 weeks. I had to have an epi as it is hospital protocol (but I also preferred it) just incase something happened and they had to rush mento surgery. But it was a fantastic birth. Good luck with ur birth xo

:yelclap: :yelclap: to all the natural twin births! They were few and far between when I was pregnant, so it is awesome to hear so many have been able to birth the way they want.

I had a natural drug-free birth with my twins. My birth story is in my signature if you want to read - No epi, twin A head down, twin B was breech and then born head first as he flipped as soon as his sister was out. :D
