i figure if i make up lots of yummy meals for DP to eat while i am in hospitial with #2 he wont live on junk :D
and if anyone can give me ideas on how to label the containers it be a great help :)
and also we have a 850watt microwave so if any can give a rough time on how long to reheat it be a greta help (i will write it on the label for dp lol)

I did the same thing for Angus when I had Hugh, he was home alone for 4weeks, and our pub- closest place to eat for 100km- shut the first week I was away!:banghead: Prob saved us a lot of money in the long run:laughing:
I froze things like spag bol, lasagna, curries (Angus would just cook some rice or pasta himself to go with it) and if we had a roast I'd do an extra serve and freeze it.
I just stick white labels on the container with the contents and the date I made it.
Not sure about reheating times, we just bung in and check as it's going along. As I used to work away every month, and his Mum used to be away a lot before I moved here, Angus is really good with the microwave! :chef:
The other thing I used to do was have plenty of frozen veg mixed bags so if Angus did cook himself chops, sausages or schnitzel all he had to do was chuck veg in a dish and then in to the microwave- otherwise he'd only eat meat!

When you cook rice, cook the whole bag and freeze what you don't need. Its a lot easier to just zap it when you need it. You can do it with pasta too.
My dh spent most of his time at maccas when I was in the hospital though.

Another really easy suggestion is those fresh pasta meals? Latina fresh is one brand, but there's a few different ones now. You buy the sauce too, the sauce is 5 minutes in the microwave, the pasta just needs boiling for 5 minutes. My supermarket puts them on discount when they get near the due date, so whenever they're going out cheap I grab a heap and chuck them in the freezer. The first week of DS's life we ate gourmet pasta every night  Chicken and sundried tomato capiletti with creamy pancetta, chives and white wine sauce MMMMMMMMMMM

Another tip: if you don't have enough containers to keep the food in the freezer, what I do is put meals in my Tupperware Freezermates, then a day or so later I pop them out of the containers whilst still frozen, put them in freezer bags and put it back in the freezer. It also means that your food is shaped better for space-saving in the freezer. I then put a white sticky label with the item and date on the bag.
Good things to freeze:
Soup
Curry
Pasta Sauce, Lasagne, Pasta Bake, Macaroni Cheese
Casseroles - Chicken/Beef Stroganoff, Chili con Carne
Meat - put single portions of steak, lamb backstraps, pork spare ribs, chicken schnitzels, sausages, etc, into bags. You can get marinated meat to make it even more interesting! :)
Quiche
Pasta and Rice
Make sure you have a bag of frozen vegies (as mentioned above) and chips/wedges so they can be added to meat meals.

An easy chicken cassarole is
2 cups of vegies copped (i. e. oinons, celery, corn kernals, brocccoli, zucini, mushrooms, etc)
teaspoon or so mixed herbs (dried)
papriki - optional
chicken pieces ( i use about 8 legs)
2 tins of creamed soup ( mushroom, asparagus and chicken & corn are good)
salt and pepper to taste.
mix together and put in a 180 oven and cook for about 1hr 20mins.
sometimes I might thicken with corn flour if needed.
serve with rice or pasta.

I would love to contribute but DP refuses to eat reheated dishes . I wish i knew why
Although these sound excellent for lunches during the week for myself :D
