View Full Version : blood in diarrohea...
My DS Samuel (29 mths) Had vomiting all last night and this morning started having diarrohea (sp?)
anyway the last two nappies have had small amount of blood in them
I called the nurse-on-call and she said to watch him for a few more hours, keep him well hydrated and take him to the docs if it gets worse or doesnt stop by this afternoon...
Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this, what they did and what happened?
Thanks
I just wanted to add that he is otherwise in good spirits
Oh Tracey.

I hope he gets better soon :hugs:
Sending :hugs: , I had my DS2 sick with that last week, no blood though. But whenever I spoke to a doctor or nurse they always asked me about it. Hope things get better soon. :hugs:
Thanks guys !
Apparently the blood means its bacterial... not sure what that means though...
his last nappy was blood free so :fingerscrossed: its just running its course on its own and he'll be ok in no time

DD had diarrhea for around 5-6 days a few weeks ago, and had a small amount of blood in it on day 2. I freaked, called Nurse-on-call who told me to just watch it and if it continued to see the dr within 24 hours. It didn't happen again though, and I put it down to her system just being irritated after 2 days of near constant poos.
I hope it clears up soon, nothing worse than a sick kid, though I'm glad he's feeling ok otherwise :hugs:

Really? Interesting. I had DD's poo tested on day 5 (or 6, I forget now) and it did actually come back with a bacteria in it. I'm not sure which one but the dr wanted to put her on antibiotics. The diarrhea had stopped on it's own by the time we got the test results though so we never did get the antibiotics.
Oh thats very interesting Martha.. I am glad she is better now by the way :p
It sounds very similar to Samuels, i had also suggested to the nurse-on-call nurse that perhaps it was his system being irritated and she said it could be that or it would mean it was a bacterial thing... i guess like e-coli or something like that...
I am hoping it just runs its course, he seems ok otherwise, quite happy and keeping down fluids etc...

Yes, bacterial means e-coli or some other sort of food poisoning. Nice eh?
I had a flash of inspiration (well, I thought I was being brilliant anyways ;)) and threw a handful of rice into a pot of broth to cook, and then gave DD the broth - with all the lovely rice starch in it to help bung up her bottom. It seemed to help a little. Small soup pasta would be good too.
