hi girls,

I am on my 6 month of TTC this month and i have been using everything except OPKs. I figured this month I would give them a whirl!! Why not, i figure nothing else seems to work!!!!

So my question - where can I buy RELIABLE bulk pack of OPKs? And how does everyone find the best way to use them? I figure I will O sometimes between the 1st and 5th of September, so do I just test my Pee every time between those days? help! :)

Also it is my 6th month off the pill, do you girls reckon thats a normal timeframe for it to take to get out of your system???

Hey Em, Some people's surge is too short, and testing once a day won't catch it. Also some peoples surge won't be big enough to make the test line darker than the control line. So it could take you two months to figure out how they work for you. I'd say go and get one and follow the instructions on the packet for the first month, and then if that doesn't work, maybe try testing twice a day the next month.

The pill should leave your system within days of stopping, however the time it takes for you body to start doing what it's meant to... hard to say. Docs alway say obstain for the first three months off the pill to let your body return to its natural cycle. I've heard many times girls saying that you're most fertile in the first month off the pill and then not for another 6 moths after that. Have read anything scientific that backs that up though.

Emma - you can buy some bulk cheapies from the internet (there are heaps of sites that sell them). I've used them (I think a pack of 20 was $10) and they are fine, but they are probably not quite as easy to read as some of the more expensive supermarket ones. Basically, just keep testing every day at the same time (after work is a good time) and eventually you'll see a second line.
