Congrats again to you and DH! It must have been good to hold at least one of them!
Do you mind me asking how many weeks you got to?
That must have been such a whirlwind to find out that your babies were coming!!!
Emma just wanted to add that I couldnt see the pics either. I think its some sort of access/permission prob to your facebook page...

ok...roll call done :-)
AFM....i am back to hospital tomorrow and have actually been very up and down the last week. I feel pretty sick when my blood sugars are up or down...but am getting there slowly with the balance.
I see the OB tomorrow as well and will hopefully be given much more of a plan on what will happen next (again lol). I should be having another scan in the next few weeks.
Bubs has been nice and active, she has dropped over the last 2 days...is lots lots lower...she can be a bit painful now when she wiggles and kicks!
Hope everyone is travelling well...great to see some extra people back and posting over Emm's big news...would love an update from you all :-)
Emma - loved the pics on facebook.
smiley - sorry to hear you have been up and down. hopefully they will sort something out for you at the hospital tomorrow.
hello to everyone else.
AFM - getting my chest of drawers delivered tomorrow. first piece of nursery furniture. yay. I started antenatal aquaerobics yesterday. was really good, but have sore legs today.

Hey everyone,
Its a bit quiet on here during the last 24 hours. Hope everyone is doing ok...especially you Emma and your little girls.
Afm: just slowly getting bigger. Have had some stretching type pains that can freak me out a bit but all is good.
She wiggles lots and I love the feeling. In fact, if I haven't felt a wiggle I really do wait for it.
Trying to work out a name that we agree on. Its hard!
And starting to organise our study that will be her room.
Went to mathilda markets on the weekend and picked up some removable wall stickers. These markets are very cool. Will post the link.

Hi everyone
it has been very quiet on here :) hope everyone is doing ok.
Smiley- sorry to hear of the dramas with your sugar levels. Hang in there hopefully all will be ok
jai- yay for getting your first big piece of furniture. It's funny how we get so excited about our purchases it just makes it feel more real :)
lulu- I was abit like that too worrying about pains until I realized they were stretching pains. As for names we haven't really decided either. I was telling my niece and nephews the other day that I was thinking Isabella and they said that's the girl from the twilight movies :) didn't know that... But kinda like the name but not quite sure yet? I'm thinking maybe when I meet her I will just know.
Emma- how are you and your little girls?Hello to everyone else
AFM- nothing happening much at all, which is probably a good thing. Bubs is moving heaps so that's good. Just love lying there with my hand on my tummy and just talking to her.

Hi all :sunshine:
It is quiet in here.
Emma - thinking of you and hoping you are all going well. I'm sure this must be the most intense week of your life, with lots of ups and downs.
Smiley - hope you got a good report from your hospital visit yesterday?
Dragon - that's funny you are thinking of Isabella (gorgeous name BTW) as our little boy is called Edward (Bella's love in Twilight). I also didn't think of Twilight when we chose it but coincidentally I was reading the books around the time of conception so perhaps there was something subconsicous going on...
AFM- not much going on at all. Just really want our renovation finished so we can go home. I'm starting to get anxious about it, there's no way I'd bring a baby to the dump we are staying in now but I don't even want to be there all day on mat leave before the baby comes. It's getting more uninhabitable by the day but there's no where we can go for two months, with a dog and a cat.

smileygirl hope your feeling a lot better! Cant be good for your spirits when you feel like crap! And good to hear your little one is so active!!
Jai must be exciting to start getting your furniture together! How did you find aquaerobics? Other than the sore legs. Did it feel good to be in the water? I had been thinking about doing it myself, or at least just relaxing in a pool! :D
Emma hope everything is well with your little family!!
Lulu good luck with picking names!
Dragongal I think the girl in twilight is called Bella not Isabella. But anyway, who cares if she has the same name. You should pick whatever name you like! When she's 20 odd people arnt going to say she has the same name as that girl from twilight. :D
Good luck with picking a name also!!
AFM had my baby shower on saturday and I think it went well. I had a lovely time. The only thing I didnt like was that the food was over an hour late! We had pre-ordered some platters a week earlier, so they would be ready. But they said they were really busy with a wedding and a conference! But thats why we had pre-ordered them! Anyway, had a good time! I cant believe I was thinking about the shower a month ago and its already been and gone!!
My back has improved dramatically from having physio. Its great!
I cant remember if I said how my babies were a little bit bigger for their size at the moment!
But doc said that it will even out at the end.
Been trying to get the nursery together. I decided to paint a tree on the wall. Very slowly getting that done.
And we are finally getting tiles put down in the kitchen in a couple of weeks!! yaaay. :smiliedance: We had a new kitchen put in more than a year ago and have been meaning to do the floor. So have been waiting a while!
Anyway enough :ecomcity:
 to everyone. Hope you are all well!!

peanut we must have been posting at the same time!
Must be soo annoying waiting to have your reno done! Think happy thoughts and how wonderful it will be when its finished!
I am sooooo sick of our terrible floor in the kitchen/dining. Its half concrete and half disgusting old tile! So I can sort of sympathise with you! Some times it just makes me feel gross!

11-08-2010, 12:17
Muse - glad you enjoyed your shower! I think the character in Twilight is called Isabella but generally goes by Bella...
Yay for your new tiles too!

11-08-2010, 12:52
muse- glad to hear the back is improving, I think mine is much better now too - pysio has been taping it up for me and that seems to make a huge difference.
My sympathies to everyone doing renos! We got most of the big stuff done pre-pregnancy, but still have plenty left. Since my back went bad I've had to accept that most of it will be on hold until after bub is born.
Hi to everyone else
Well we've finally given up on the cot - we bought it awhile ago and got it 95% assembled but can't get the drop side to work. We've taken photos and sending to the manufacturer as it looks like a component is actually broken rather than it being due to our ineptitude. hopefully they will send a replacement part or something!
By the way, the physio told me its not my bra or bloating that's causing the pain under my bust, its my ribs expanding outwards.
herewego
11-08-2010, 14:20
Doughnut - I've had pain under my bust too and it's because that's where the stomach muscle joins the ribs and it's all a bit fragile while it's expanding. I obviously chose to rip up the lino and strain myself at precisely the wrong time. Also, I think the fact that I'm losing strength through there means I'm not supporting my posture as well as I should.
Hello to everyone else. I'll try to get back for more personals later - between students at the moment.
Smiley - so sorry you are still having a rough time of it....hope your next few weeks can be smoother! How are your levels today?
Emma - how are you going lovie? Hope you have been able to have a few more cuddles. How is Bridget going?
Jai - yay for getting some of your furniture! You will will have a fully decked out nursery before you know it!
Muse - glad your back has setled down....it must have been awful for you! Sounds like you had a great baby shower apart for the late food.....you wonder why places take on business if they can't fulfill their orders (on time)!
Dragon - ohhh...i love Isabella! Such a pretty feminine name.
Peanut - It must be a pain not being in your own home. Is it likely that your house will be ready for bub? I hope it all works out for you!
Lulu - Names can be so hard....especially if you both like different sorts of names! Luckily DH seem to be on the same wave length when it comes to names so we haven't found it too hard this time around.
Doughnut - awww....expanding ribs sounds horrendous....but I guess that is what is happening inside of all of us. Are you a small framed person? Just thinking that if you are maybe your ribs expand more??? Can you tell I didn't human biology at school!!!!
Herewego - hi there! How did the painting turn out?
AFM - 31 weeks tomorrow! so excited about that. Had an appointment with my ob today and all is going really well - have not put on any weight, blood pressure is spot on and no swelling at all! BUT.......I have a hernia just above my belly button. I have had lots of stomach pain lately....mainly when I walk arround and have felt a bulge in that spot. Doc says it is a umbilicis hernia. should not affect the preganancy in any way....except for the pain....but will have to have it surgically repaired after bub is born. but he also said lets cross that bridge when we come to it. At least I know what this strange lump is now....was a little worried. I had two surgeries close together last year (lap and gall bladder) which both involved an incision near the belly button - he said this would have weakened the muscles there and then to be pregnant not long after has all led to the hernia. Anyway, compared to what some of you other lovely ladies have gone through - I should not complain!
:hugs: to everyone!
herewego
11-08-2010, 18:07
May - I got the ceiling and the window frame done, and then I was well and truly over painting! DH came home on Sunday and has spent the last 2 evenings sealing the floor boards - lovely (and b****y expensive) Planet Ark sealer so no nasty fumes or chemicals. The floor boards look lovely now. Next we will paint a brick wall which shouldn't be too difficult, and then we're going to attempt to wallpaper a wall  Should be interesting! Then I can finally clear all the stuff out of the nursery and start getting my furniture set up :smiliedance:
That hernia doesn't sound too pleasant. At least the lump wasn't anything more serious :(
Musebaby - I'm glad you enjoyed your baby shower. I was just discussing dates for mine with my SIL the other day. I'm going to wait until I finish work, so it will be around the 26th of September. I can totally understand how easy it is to put off those finishing touches with home renovations. We had a built in wardrobe installed when we moved into our house and I decided to save money and not get them pre-painted. I will never try and save money that way again. It took me a year before I got round to painting them, so for a year we had a plain MDF wardrobe in our bedroom.
Peanut - are you doing the renovations yourselves or have you got builders doing it. If DH is doing most of the work I am sure he will start to feel the pressure soon and get into turbo mode. If not, then I doubt the builders will feel the same sense of urgency....
Dragongal - I've been feeling bubs move heaps lately as well. Occasionally there'll be a sudden outburst of movement from my stomach and then it will be all quiet for a while. I keep joking that wingnut is throwing a tantrum :p
Lulu - I've seen mathildas market advertised from time to time but haven't been. I was looking at some of those wall stickers in a wall paper shop but have also seen them on ebay for a lot less. I think I'm going to have to stick with Winnie the Pooh since that is pretty gender neutral. DH and I have a couple of names that we agree on, but for a girl so far the favourite is Chloe. I also quite like Evelyn (Evie) and was surprised that DH liked it took, but I think Chloe is still winning the race. I always wanted Adam for a boy so automatically discounted Evelyn (Adam and Eve) but since DH isn't overly keen on Adam I have been able to reconsider Evelyn. For boys we are leaning towards traditional names like James and Matthew.
Jai - I hope your chest of drawers arrived okay. Did you get that in the DJ's sale?
Smileygirl - is the hospital visit diabetes related or baby related? I hope it goes well and you get your levels sorted out soon.
Emma - I hope you and your girls are doing well and that you're getting a bit of time to rest.
AFM - I feel like I'm getting bigger by the day. It's taking more and more effort to roll over in bed lol. I'm looking forward to the baby expo on the weekend :smiliedance: Are any other Perth girls going? I've got my little list going, and am definitely going to get my Ergo baby carrier (I've got a list of competitors prices in case I have to bargain them down ) I'm also going to check out the various nappy companies.

Wonderful news Emma, that is fantastic, so glad to hear the early delivery has gone well.
DW and i would love to see pics, i'll send you my FB link, and you can friend me if you want to:o
Herewego - Hearing your pain, sounds like you guys are doing what we are, painting, sealing floors etc...
Over it....baah
Peanut - you renoing too?
Everyones turning their house upside down at the most appropriate time:p
It does feel like, now or never though..
Smiley - You must be commended on your high spirits and managing yourself through the issues you've been faced with. Hats off to you. Not long to go now
Sydney - Did you get your house sorted yet, i recall you were doing reno city also..
Doughnut - those dropsides are mental! i had a similar problem, we got a second cot off a friend and repainted it...and um, dropside is kinda 'fixed side' now..
Hi to everyone else, nice to see a couple of bubs on the roll call!! Makes it all feel very close now.
DW is going well apart from; about to expl(((O))de, ribs feel broken, lack of sleep, baby limbs making weird shapes through her stomah and a couple of other comfort issues.
Seriously though, she is doing very well, larger than our first bub at full term already, but healthy and happy.
Stay well ladies!

Hi everyone,
This thread is abit quiet I don't think we are chatty enough. I think it's also because everyone is doing so well and we are at the content stages of our pregnancies which is great. No scan or blood test results to report so abit quiet. I lurk on the other threads and the other girls love talking about food .
Peanut- Now that is funny especially when we have the same due date. Happy 26 weeks tomorrow buddy.
Musebaby- glad you enjoyed your baby shower and love your pic.
May- congrats on 31 weeks, don't you just love it that your ticker is down to a single digit. I don't know what a hernia is but it doesn't sound too good.
Herewego- I love feeling the movements, at the beginning it kind of felt like butterflies and wasn't very pleasant while you are working but now that I read that lots of movements is good I don't mind it and worry if I don't feel them, the little one is definately starting to get big kicks in though , Rolling over in bed is definately one of the harder tasks now :)
Cazz- where are you? You can't just drop a line and disappear again, would love to hear your progress.
Hello to everyone else. Lots of renovations going on, hope they all fall into place in time for bubs arrival.
AFM- Not much going on at all, just plodding along and enjoying this time as much as possible, everyone keeps saying get lots of sleep cos once bubs is here it will be a thing of the past.:hugs: to all
smileygirl
11-08-2010, 22:58
hi gang!
dragon - sorry will be more chatty, i promise lol Don't listen to any of the people who say negatives...life changes but it's mainly in good ways...you might get less sleep at night...but nap with bubs during the day when you can and life will be peachy hee hee I love the name Isabella...but with the movies i guess that it is possible it will be very common this year.
simon - good to see you on here again! Am glad DW doing well, she looks so good!
herewego - have a great time at expo!! I went to one ages ago (gee, it feels like a life time...but i was preggy) and it was great. Some great nappy specials :-) The next one here is in October...so depending upon how old lil miss is (and how she arrives) i am VERY keen to go again.
May - the hernia sounds ouchy! one of my other friends has one too and it sounds well worth complaining about to me. Don't compare with others...your journey is yours and you do what ever feels good...and sometimes a good vent is just what is needed.
doughnut - i hope the cot gets sorted!! That sounds so frustrating, i really hope the company comes through. My ribs ache atm too...when the lady was fitting my maternity bra she said that is why they have so many "loops" as the ribs will expand every month.
muse - so glad you had a lovely baby shower...i am counting down to mine now and very excited. the tree idea sounds pretty....we'll need some pic's!
peanut - Do you have an "end date" for the reno's?
AFM - well...my hospital visit was not good...i came away thoroughly ****ed off to be honest!
I arrived at 10am and left at 1.30pm....i spent a total of about 25 mins with doctors...
The first i saw was the diabetes doc ... who did not look at me once! He has changed my diabetes meds...so now on 2 shots a day. I was then sent back to wait more...sigh
Then i saw the "rotation" OB...and i wish i had not bothered!
she was all about standard hospital procedure. In her mind insulin = induction at 38 weeks = constant fetal monitoring = not allowed off the bed. She did not care about sizing (which i have been told is the only reason for induction)...just that hospital procedure is.
she did not cope well with my question of "what if i say no?"
She also said if i did go into labour on my own and went to hospital they would put me straight on monitoring and again not allowed to leave the bed.
I then asked what would happen if i got up anyway? again she got all flustered.
I am anti induction...i would prefer a c section as the impact on the bubs is less (less drugs get to their system, high chance of intervention with induction, high chance of epi dural plus instrumental birth, high chance of being c section anyway). She again failed at any level to discuss things...rather referring back to "procedure".
I am really ****ed off...i don't think the machine of medical intervention works...and i don't want to be caught as yet another helpless cog in the wheels.
I am seeing my specialist high risk OB again in 2 weeks and also my accupuncture guy on Thursday. I also have a scan in 2 weeks (so just before my OB appointment) and i will be discussing things further.
sorry for the rant (omg, you guys must be so sick of me lol) but i am feeling positive as DH, my middy and I have an agreed plan...and we will be starting to petition for that immediately....stay tuned...there will no doubt be more...
on a positive note...and possibly a way TMI...i am finally allowed to have sex again!!! So for the first time since april...our bedroom no longer passion free lmao

Dragongal - I think it's quiet because emma's not around as much lol! She probably posts more than anyone. I do remember there being a lot of food talk when we were all early on and discussing what we could eat without throwing up lol
smileygirl - sounds like a very frustrating hospital visit. I never realized how unpleasant an induction is - a couple of people have told me they really didn't want one and would opt for a c/section instead.
I think 'wingnut' is pushing right on my bladder plus my maternity jeans are getting a bit tight and cutting into the bottom of my belly so I'm feeling very uncomfortable tonight. Outgrowing my maternity jeans - that's a worry...

Smiley- wow that was a frustrating hospital visit! But I love how you always remain cheerful & positive. The end of your post made me laugh too. Enjoy the sex :)
herewego- uhmmm wonder how Emma is going with her little girls? I agree with you though at the beginning food was a major issue, what we could & couldn't eat without feeling sick. Now we are all past that stage and are just getting expanding tummmies :) i'm on the iPhone so can't see your ticker or if you have a pic are you really big? How far along are you now? I'm pretty big for 26 weeks and get ask lots if I'm due soon. I've been pretty lucky though haven't had any back pain yet. Just a lot of waddling going on :)
AFM- still sleeping on my back, the only position that I'm comfortable with, everytime I try to sleep on my side it's very uncomfortable and sore. 26 weeks today! Taking it in my stride now, everyday I feel more excited! Hope everyone else is doing well. Will be getting exciting soon when our babies start arriving and we post our birth stories :) xxxx

Ok Baby Update (sorry brain not functioning for personals)
Both Bridget & Taylah are doing great they have them both on what they call CPAP which is just oxygen through the nose to help them get more air into the lungs and Taylah has been on that since day dot but Bridget need some extra so they had to put a tube down her throat for a few days but she off that now and back on the CPAP and each day they will take them off that for a hr or so, so they develop the skill to get enough air to their lungs, Taylah does really well at that and yesterday was off for a total of 3hrs but it tuckered her out a little and then would forget to breath a little and you just have to nudge her and she remember its like sleep apneoa (ph sp)
Taylah & Bridget look alike in person the photos you can tell and their hair looks darker on them as well (i will put some in BH for those who cant see my FB)
I'm hoping to be able to go home tomorrow i have been here since Saturday so starting to go mad i just want to be able to wash my hair as the showers dont have preasure in them grrr it's like washing under a tap
Some asked if i was getting rest unfortunatley not ..even thou the girls arent with me i still have to do 3hrs feeds and have to do them manually into a syringe as my milk hasnt come in yet the hardest ones are in the middle of the night trying to stay awake while trying to get what little colsutrum i have into a syringe without falling alseep and dropping everything its going to get harder once i go home too as i'll need to transport it in each morning
Well i need to shower and go see the girls and DH's grandparents are coming to see the girls today and DH is at work so i have to deal with them solo ..his pop is cute but wanders off and looks at other babies LOL so you have to keep and eye on him LOL
Take Care all ...and no one go off and have babies early please one of us is enough :-)

Happy Thursday :flowerz: everyone
Nice to see some more chat in here!
Muse - painting a tree in your nursery sounds very ambitious, you are obviously way more artistic than me. I ordered some wall stickers and a cute bird shaped mirror yesterday.
Doughnut - that's interesting about the rib expansion. My SIL was saying the other day how she got wider around the underbust area and back, I guess that explains it. She said it took a while after birth to go back to normal too as she could feel it in her clothes.
May - the reno is supposed to be finished by end of October but we are hoping it will be mid-October:fingerscrossed:. Sorry about the hernia, hope it doesn't give you too much more grief.
Herewego - wow your DIY work is very impressive! How nice to be able to get onto the nursery. When are you planning to finish up work? I'm trying to decide that at the moment. We're not doing the reno ourselves, it's a pretty major job as we only kept two rooms, demolished the rest and went up. We have an architect managing it and I've asked him to give the builder the hurry up. Late penalties kick in from early November so he does have some incentive altho I want it done early! I love the name Chloe. I got an Ergo the other day too, can't wait to use it!
Simon - great to hear that you, DW and bubs are going so well. Things are getting to the pointy end for you guys now!
Dragon - happy 3rd trimester to you! The constant movement is so reassuring isn't it.
Smiley - love your positive approach to live with bub. I think (not that I would know) that if I just go with bub's routine and nap when he does that life will be lovely. Your hospital visit sounds really frustrating. If I were you, I'd ignore it all, chat to the specialist OB and make the plan you want! Sounds like you are really well informed and hopefully you can be assertive enough too. Shame that it seems you have to fight for what you want.
Emma - thanks for the update and I'm totally thrilled that your girls are doing so well. I knew you'd have little fighters! I'd love to see some pics. How long do you expect they will have to stay in hospital?
AFM - 26 weeks today, yay. Off to do my glucose challenge test tomorrow.

Emma- thanks for update sounds like the girls are doing real well, and you too. Bring in hospital does drive you abit batty hope you are well enough to go home soon.
Peanut- are we in the third trimester? I thought that was at 28 weeks?
peanut22
12-08-2010, 11:04
Dragon - some say the 3rd trimester starts at the beginning of week 28 and some say at the beginning of week 27. Up the Duff and Bub Hub both say from the start of week 27, which is today, so I'm going with that!

Dragongal - I'm 27 weeks on Sunday. Lots of people say I'm small but I think it's just because I've got a small build. Other people who see me regularly have commented how much I've grown in just a week. I agree - it feels like I'm growing bigger every day. I'll take another photo soon.

Goodluck with your glucose test peanut & herewego. That reminds me to book mine too :)
herewego that means you are just a few days ahead of me & peanut.
Peanut- third trimester sounds good so I'm going with that :)
Hi Everyone
Not sure if you all would have seen the catelogue....but Target have a sale on at the moment (started today). They have bags of Huggies wipes (240) for $10....that is really cheap. I buy them for $14 on special usually (still use them for DD's sticky hands and face etc). I went today and bought 2 more packs - I use the green pack...they are none perfumed and for sensitive skin. Huggies wipes are alot thicker than others on the market and they are not as 'wet' if you know what i mean....they are wet enough to do their job, but dont leave bub bottom wet.
Target also have Huggies nappies on sale for $33.
It was my birthday yesterday and I was very spoilt by DH and DD. I was so surprised to receive a digital SLR camera.....was hoping to get one for my 40th (2 years away!) but DH said what better time than now to get it so we can take lots of pics of bub! I am hoping the new camera will MAKE me take lots of photos of this one....as I have heard that you dont take half as many pics of bub #2 as you do of bub #1.......I am the second child in our family and can attest to that theory....lots of my brother, hardly any of me!
Emma - so pleased to hear Taylah and Bridget are doing so well.....they are super bubs!
Smiley - yay for you and DH ;)
Herewego and Peanut - good luck with your glucose tests! Dragon - go and book yours!!!!!

Do you need to book? My ob just told me to go to a Western Diagnostic clinic (judging by the name it's obviously a WA clinic) with my referral and be prepared to sit there for an hour.

Hi Everyone
Emma - thats wonderful news about your girls. Are they putting on weight?
Simon - glad to hear things are going well with you guys
May - happy birthday for yesterday. Sounds like you had a lovely day.. oh and thanks for the tip on the huggies wipes.
AFM - There has been a bit going on for us lately so haven't posted much. Better give you ladies an update!
One night last week, woke up with severe period type pain about 2am.. It was coming and going (not necessarily at consistent intervals) and continued for about 4 hours before I thought... hhhmmm, maybe I should ring the hospital. Probably silly to wait that long i suppose, but I was only 28 weeks at the time and was basically in denial that it could be anything to be too worried about. In the end, the thing that really worried me was the fact that my normally really active baby wasn't moving at all.
Once I called the hospital they told me to come straight in.. and ofcourse as soon as I got there, everything settled down (the pain) and the baby started kicking..
So anyway, I have no idea what the issue was... maybe it was just wind pain??
I'm sure that the first of many sleepless nights to come.
Other than that little trip everything has been pretty boring!

Yep I was also told no need to book. Just turn up at the pathology with your referral, drink the sweet stuff, wait an hour, have a blood test and you're done.

Herewego & peanut-the pathology down where I live always ask people to book for glucose tests cos they are so busy. But that's for the 2 hour not sure about 1 hr so should ring and ask tomorrow- should have done that today was slack and decided to have a nap instead :)
may- happy birthday for yesterday! Yay for camera now there's no excuse not to take lots of pictures of bubs :) I was intending to ho to target tomorrow so will pick up a few of those wipes.
Sydney- well that was abit of a scare, glad

May – yeah, i’m quite small framed, usually a size 8 and have narrow shoulders – don’t feel very petite anymore though! Hernia sounds worse than what i’m experiencing.
Does anyone know if our ribs will go back to the same size as pre-pregnancy or is this a permanent expansion???! I am wondering if I’ll ever be able to wear my pre-preg bras again!
Simon – If the manufacturer doesn’t agree to fix up the cot, then I’ll have to permanently screw the dropside into place too..... not happy about that as I am so short I will find reaching into get bub out quite a stretch! DW certainly is expanding! I always get a bit scared (imagining what its like) when I see pregnant women with those massive pregnancy bellies – very glad that I am only carrying one bub!
Emma – great to hear the twins are progressing. Expressing into a syringe sounds like hard work, I guess there isn’t enough material for a pump to be useful.
Dragon – I’m also getting lots of movement and sometimes find it a bit weird when at work in a meeting etc, but it is good reassurance that baby is doing well. on the topic of food - I find a lot of people asking me if I have cravings (typically men for some reason seem to think this is interesting and that I must be eating lots of weird $h!t), but I haven't had any other what I consider 'normal' non-pregnancy food craves like 'gee I could really go some vanilla ice cream with hot chocolate fudge' etc :p

May - happy belated birthday! Sounds like a nice one.
Doughnut - know what you mean about the movment, it's lovely but it's also weird sitting in a meeting in a fitted top looking at your belly quivering!
Simon - DW looks amazing!
Sydney - sorry about your hospital trip but glad it was nothing serious. I had one night like that and it was awful, think it was actually wind pain or some sort of stomach cramps.
Herewego - six weeks left for me too (unless I extend it a bit but not feeling so inclined at this stage), bring it on!
AFM - off for the glucose test shortly. I sooooo hope I don't have to go back for the second one.

on the glucose test issue - I had the short test only. My doctor gave me the drink at my 24 week checkup and told me to keep it in the fridge and drink it an hour before my 28 week appointment. As soon as I got there, she took blood. pretty simple really, can't imagine why you would need to book in for it...
my glucose levels were fine so there was no need for the long (2hour) test in my case.
Hope everyone has a great weekend
:flowerz:
Interesting about the different ways the glucose tests are administered. The one hour test at the pathology place I go to consists of an initial blood test, then the drink, then sitting for an hour (dont like you to move around to much cos you burn the glucose quicker), then a second blood test. The same for the 2 hour one except you sit for another hour and then have a third blood test.
I didnt have to have an appointment for either of my 2 hour test - but maybe it depends upon the size of the clinic and how they administer the tests?
I had a nice surprise today.....I had a call from one of the nurses from my fertility clinic. She was ringing to see how I was going with my pregnancy and to 'touch base' - I thought that was really nice! I must admit when I saw the number come up on the screen (I recognised the number) my stomach did a bit of a flip.....a thousand things went through my head......OMG, they got the results wrong.....hello - I have a huge stomach and a little creature jumping around inside of me :laughing::laughing: Always thinking the worst!!!!

Hey Lovelies
I've been super slack with BH lately :o I think I'm probably like Zac, everything has been going along quite smoothly for me and not many issues. Have been keeping track of you all and sending lots of happy vibes :)
Dragon - I was soooo glad to see you back in the thread. I'm glad you couldn't stay away. I promise to pop in more ;)
Sydney - Your hospital trip sounds like quite a scare. Were the pains mainly on the left hand side? My BF had the same thing when she was preg with the twins and rushed down to the hospital only for it to stop when she got there. Her obs was there and said it was most likely gas/digestive pains but it's hard to tell when everythings squished around! Glad everything is ok now x
Em - Been looking at pics of your girls on FB. They look so cute and tiny. I'm glad you are getting more cuddles with them.
Simon - Woah! DW is looking fantastic! Will she be having a c-section? Do they know around when yet? Saw your reno's on FB too, they look great!
Herewego - I'm pretty sure our ribs go back to normal afterwards. I have giant norks so have to buy from specialist bra shops, they lady I spoke to the other day said that closer to due date our ribs actually get smaller again when bub drops & some women have to go down a hook before birth. Fingers crossed!
Muse - Glad the shower went well (except for the late food). Your profile pics looks lovely, I wish I were game enough to have some shots done.
May - A hernia sounds really painful, you poor thing. Hope it eases up for you. Happy Birthday for the other day too! I got a DSLR for my birthday too!!
Smiley - That obs sounds like a stickler for 'procedure', I'm glad that you know what you want and are willing to stand up for yourself, there's a lot of women that would just give in. It's your body & your birth!!
Peanut - I remember reading a while ago that you were upset or worried that some people have been commenting on how small you are (maybe it was your dentist?). I hope my comment on your FB photo didn't upset you. It was honestly meant as a huge compliment, I think people are probably quite jealous that you are so petite! They def wouldn't mean any hard feelings by it. You look fabulous!!
Sorry for anyone I've missed! Trying to reply from memory so I'm sure I've missed lots.
AFM - Had my glucose test this morning, fingers crossed it's all good. I dread the thought of not being able to scoff dessert! Been working lots and keeping busy. We've been to a few antenatal classes which have been good. Starting to get tired again now especially after work. Hit the wall while shopping last night & had to sit on the 'husband chairs' while DP finished off the grocery shopping! Despite it all, loving being preggers and can't wait to meet our little girl :flowerz:

Hi everyone,
Hideously busy week so this is just a quick one.
Ive been really tired this week. Was just having a rest on the sofa on my back and got more and more nausea and felt like i was going to have vomiting and the other end.
After 20 minutes of getting worse and worse I wondered if it was because i shouldnt be on my back.
Im up now and feeling slightly better. Has anyone experienced this? Is it normal?

Sydney - I hope I'm like you and done with one glucose test.
May - I totally would have had the same thoughts cross my mind seeing that number on my phone:laughing:. That was very nice of her to call.
Cazz - good to hear from you! Noooo totally no offence at your lovely comments. I was only annoyed at my dentist and her nurse cos they kept saying, you can't possibly be six months, and are you really sure you're pregnant, even oh your gums are way too healthy for you to be pregnant! It was just the way they went on about it, but I know people mostly mean it as a compliment. Just those preggie hormones got me all sensitive! Hope you did well on the glucose test, all that lovely baking you've been doing can't go to waste!
Lulu - I haven't had that but I'm beginning to think pretty much anything is normal in this pregnancy game:yes:
AFM - glucose test all done. Ugh I hate lemonade and this was like Sprite on steroids. After I had the blood test I was so glad to get out of there only to have the nurse chase me out the door saying she didn't realise she needed another vial for something so I had to go back and have another blood test in the other arm! Grrr. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend. I'm off to Baby Bunting with my Mum tomorrow, Inception in Gold Class tomorrow night and on Sunday, brunch, footy and then dinner. Should be nice.

Peanut - I had my glucose test today as well. I didn't find the drink too bad - just like flat lemonade. I took my book club book along with me so got a bit more of that read! I only had a BT at the end, not at the beginning and the end.
Simon - hello again  I'm sure DW is appreciating all the comments on how huge she is  Is she booked in for a particular date?
AFM - DH is tired and grumpy this evening so I think I might go and do a bit more painting! It's his off-roster and he has spent all week at a course (at his own instigation mind you) but I think the lack of sleeping is making him a grumpy bear. Oh well, he'll be much happier after I've dragged him around the baby expo tomorrow :D Not! I've updated my avatar photo so you can see my rapidly expanding tummy. Even though everyone says I'm very 'neat' I feel like I'm growing by the day! I saw my Mum on Tuesday and then ran into her at the shops yesterday and she said I'd grown in those 2 days! My Dad wanted a photo of my belly to show to his mother when he goes to England next week so he took a photo on his phone of me in the meat department. Nice! My pregnant belly with shelves of steak as the backdrop.

Doughnut- I enjoy the movements now, I get worried if I can't feel them :) everyone asks me if I get cravings too and give me funny looks when I say I don't crave anything. DH hasn't had to run extra errands at all. Anyone had any funny cravings?
Cazz- so glad to see you back, the thread sure looks brighter and more colourful with your posts. Great to hear everything is going so well and you are enjoying your pregnancy. I'm enjoying it heaps too especially the pampering but I'm still wishing the time away so I can hold bubs in my arms.
May- that was nice of your clinic to give you a ring although I can understand your reaction. I'm sure your heart skipped a beat :) btw, I have a cousin named may and her birthday is 11 august too :)
lulu- I always lie on my back, I have felt uncomfortable a couple of times and rolled over but mostly I'm ok. I'm more uncomfortable lying on my side, my tummy gets really sore.
Peanut- hey DD buddy, I get opposite comments from you. People can't believe I'm only six months. They then go on to ask me if I'm having twins :). It's quite funny actually alot of my regular customers just stare at my big tummy and are too afraid to ask if I'm expecting in case I'm just getting fat. I have to admit I've made that mistake once and will never ask anyone if they are pregnant ever again I felt so bad.
Herewego- haha, bet you just fit right in with the meat department.
Simon- when is DW actually due? Sorry can't see ticker on iPhone. Goodluck can't wait till we start welcoming more bubs to our thread.
Hello to everyone else I've missed. Hope everyone had a nice Friday 13th. Enjoy the weekend!

Hi Dragon - 38 week due date is Oct 1 but my tip is early - mis september based on that fact we are still growing twins at the same size as 2 x singles!
Ob's and Dr's seem unfussed about anything at this stage, so i guess we just wait.
Problem is, you can see them moving through the skin!, it's very tight - i don't where the next two months accomodation is for these two dudes..

Must be exciting to see all that movement too but I can see where your coming from worrying about how to accomodate them :) I bet youre just getting impatient to meet the two "dudes". Glad to hear DW is doing so well though now if only you could load a pic on BH :)

Simon - wow DW is big! I bet she's finding it hard to move about.
Dragongal - I'm getting all sorts of discomfort lately, particularly a bloating type feeling really low in my pelvis. It's not crampy though.
Actually, I'm not sure if anyone has or is experiencing a similar thing to me. **TMI** I find that every morning (after I've been to the loo so my bladder is empty) I get quite a bit of 'leakage' and it just runs down my legs if I haven't got any pants on yet. I don't know if it's urine or not because I don't need to go the toilet, and I have no control over this mystery flow  I've wondered if it could be a UTI because I sometimes (not always) get a bit of pain when I go to the loo, but I've had a couple of UTI's before and they were a lot more painful than this. I've also been getting a lot more discomfort in my pelvic area, especially after eating or wearing clothes that are a bit fitted. Any ideas??

Herewego how long has that been happening that you have been leaking ???
herewego
14-08-2010, 12:09
Weeks? It's not a continuous flow, more like a one off small release. Normally I get dressed straight away and put a panty liner in so I don't notice it. If I don't put a liner in soon after getting up then that's when I notice it. I have to wear a liner every day though.

Hi y'all. hope you are having a nice weekend. :sunshine:
herewego - Might be worth asking the doctor about the leaking - I haven't had anything like that, apart from a small mishap once when I sneezed (fortunately had just gotten out of shower, so just stepped back in again)!
Simon - how is DW's back holding up? I've had so much trouble with my back, all I can think when I see large preggy bellies is "her back must be really hurting!" If you are wondering if there will be room for the 2 bubs by October..... did you see the 'octomum' photos? Obviously there is a great deal of expansion capacity in the female body and DW is no where near octomum size!!
musebaby
14-08-2010, 16:12
herewego, I have that. I know what you mean. Its usually after you go to the loo.
I used to think that it was urine. But it does happen every now and then through out the day... well Im kinda glad Im not the only one...
I dont have any pain tho... I know you can have some leakage..
Hi everyone - sorry I have been a bit quiet!
Emma - so glad to hear the girls are doing well.
May - that was nice of the nurse to call you, but yes I think I would have been worried too if pivet's number appeared on my screen. Glad to hear things are going well. Sounds like you were spoilt for your birthday, enjoy taking photos with your new camera!
Sydneygirls - wow sounds like you had a big scare, glad to hear things are ok.
Simon - sounds like you have two very healthy dudes growing there! Hopefully they can stay put for another month or two!
Doughnut - have you sorted out the cot situation? It's funny how people are so interested in cravings.
Cazz - glad to hear things are going well, not long for you now!
Lulu - I don't know if lying on your back would make you nauseaus, I think it usually makes you light headed. Have you had any more problems?
Peanut - good to hear your glucose test went ok. Sounds like you have a very busy weekend - enjoy!
Herewego - we went to the baby expo today too! Did you find anything interesting? I was surprised how busy it was - so many pregnant women and babies! I'm jealous that you have only six more weeks of work! I'm going to try to work up until week 8 of term 4. Someone tried to tell me you have to finish 6 weeks before the birth but I looked at the agreement and from what I can gather that isn't the case anymore.
As for the leaking, I haven't had this either, but I think I would check with your doctor or midwife just to make sure.
Dragongal - I dont like to ask people either to avoid embarrasment! Asking if you are having twins is just as bad!
Musebaby:wave:
Hello to anyone else I missed!:)
AFM - well DH and I went to the baby expo today, and we ended up buying our pram and car seat:D:eek: I also bought some wraps and a digital thermometer.
A lady at one of the stands asked if I was pregnant - I'm not sure if that was a compliment or not. If I'm not pregnant then I must look fat! I guess she didn't want to assume, but it's probably a safe bet at a pregnancy, baby and child expo!
herewego
15-08-2010, 10:43
EKMum - the expo was pretty crazy wasn't it? I wanted to get one of those digital thermometers but I didn't see the stand. After stopping at numerous nappy stands and buying the ergo baby DH had well and truly had enough so I didn't push it  I bought 2 peapods, 2 bumgenius and 2 itti bitti nappies to try out, as well as the ergo baby. What sort of pram did you get? Did they have good deals on? I didn't look at any of them because I've already got our pram.
Musebaby - it sounds like we'll both keep Libra afloat during our pregnancy then
AFM - more painting today....and then we're going to attempt some wallpapering. I woke up feeling so overwhelmed and anxious to get it all done today. I know DH is getting a bit depressed over the state of the house and the garden so I just want to get this room finished so we can clear all the stuff out of what will be the nursery. I've had my cup of tea in the morning sun, finished my book club book, and am waiting for DH to wake up before I make some pancakes for brekky.

Wonder when the next expo in Sydney is I missed this years one
Herewego - I looked at some of the nappies too I want to try and use a mix of MCNs and disposables. Some people have told me that I will end up just using disposables as the MCNs are too much work and not as good as disposables. But I might give them a go anyway. I liked the Green Nappies - did you see them? They are made in WA which is good!
We bought an Emmaljunga Nitro Pram. It wasn't a huge special, 10% off plus a couple of freebies - a bag and a sheepskin. But it was the pram that I really wanted so DH said we might as well get it.
How did your painting go? It can be so overwhelming when there is so much to do around the house, I know my DH gets a bit stressed about it, but I try to tell him to do what he can. We have lots of roses, so he has been trying to prune them all over the last week!
Emma - We only get one baby expo a year (that I know of)- are there more in Sydney?
AFM - I my first baby dream last night, that the baby was home, but I only had two outfits to dress him in. I was really stressed about it! So I went and bought a couple of outfits today:D (any excuse!).

Tell hubby not to stress about the house/garden - ours has been a vortex for the last 6 months and after a big weekend of finishing off stuff and some time in the garden (****ing down rain:() things are finally looking normal.
It will come together for you guys...
I've had a big rush on, ever since Emma had her babies, i'm feeling like ours will arrive anyday, plus it's DD's birthday party next Sunday (bought forward by 2 weeks due to immenent labour lol).
So yeah, there's been quite a few nights painting until 11pm etc but it's mostly done now..

Don't be too fussed about the roses - they are glorified blackberries. Hack em back as hard as possible and chuck a handful of fert on them. don't get technical about it. Trust me, i'm a horticulturalist - :D

EK - Nope only one expo looked it up but added myself to their info list so that i get a reminder ..i had my baby shower on the weekend that Sydney has theres and missed out on going
Simon - i dont think you should panic dont forget i had ID twins so i have had dramas since the beginning and was going to have them at 35wks anyway so dont panic..oh the moving belly is really freaky hey DH would always miss it as they were active late at night mostly and by then he is snoring (actually like now!!) my belly would go pointy in the front when i would sit up and that would freak me out too
The girls are going great guns they have all the nurses wrapt around their itty bity fingers they are both only on the CPAP which just oxygen up the nose but Taylah can go with out it for 3hrs at time before she has a lapse and forgets to breath usually happens when they get into a real deep sleep and you just have to nudge them out of it and they pick back up and Bridget goes for about 2hrs max without hers as the weeks go on the brain develops that part that tells them to do that natural and once that happens they will probably move to level 2 and into a crib together and both are on regular feeds only a couple of mils every couple of hrs but they have been getting bigger feeds each day, we have to remember that at this age they wouldnt normally be getting food so they are coping with that really well and as they get more food one or both and may have a hick up and go back down a little but so far they are both coping really well..
Even thou they arent with me 24-7 i still have to get up every 3hrs to express which is a struggle as you are only answering to an alarm on the phone but even if we are out i have to make sure that i get home in time to express the real test comes this week when DH is at work and i'm out of hospital so i can just go down a floor to see them i have to bus it in and back home in time to express then meet John at home and then back to the hospital for afternoon cuddles
Hope everyone else is well

Simon - my dad normally comes round and prunes the roses for me but he's heading overseas today so it looks like I'll have to get the shears out... :-(
I so overdid it with the decorating last night and then couldn't sleep properly because I had leg cramps. Hence I feel like c**p. Also, DH turned the power off yesterday but didn't turn the computer off first so now I can't get windows running again. I have tried restarting it so many times.... Grrr....

I missed a few posts/personals.. sorry
herewego you sound very busy with getting house stuff finished. I know how you feel by wanting to get things finished! Yumm pancakes!!!
Emma your av is soooo cute. Your babies look sooo precious! No wonder they have the nurses wrapped around their little fingers!
Gowd sounds pretty full on for you. But sounds like your coping! Must get pretty tiring tho!
My DH name is John too!
EKmum I am going to use both nappy types. I think I am going to be too lazy to use cloth nappies all the time! :D Sounds like you got a good deal on your pram!
simon that party sounds great! Ponies!! Kids will LOVE that! How far along is DW now? She sounds like she gets quite uncomfortable! Well thats something for me to look forward to!
You must be getting pretty excited if you think their birth isnt too far away!!
AFM had appointment with OB today. Babies have moved AGAIN. They were lying on top of one another and now they are back to being side by side again.
They seem to change position every time I have a scan.
I have my next scan on the 30th and then every 4 weeks (Unless I have any probelms - but has been clean sailing so far - touch wood!).
So that will be fun! Get to see them that often. :D
Also have my glucose tests coming up, which lucky me, will happen on the same days as my anti D injections. yaaay - not. I hate needles.
But I do feel very greatful for having a such a good pregnancy so far!! :D

Hello all :flowerz:
Herewego - great pic, and I agree that you look very neat. I get that pelvic pain too but no leakage (so far anyway). You have been so busy with your redecorating, great effort!
Dragon - ha, your customers must really think you've let yourself go . I can understand them being nervous to ask though, still at 6 months surely it's obvious that it's a baby belly not just too much chocolate?
Simon - your DW looks great but she must feel pretty awkward already. I always get nervous with preggie bellies like that, like the woman is going to topple forward on her face or it's all going to get too heavy and drop out. It's a lot to carry round for two more months. The body is an amazing thing tho!
EKMum - sounds like the expo was fun, with some nice purchases. Sometimes when people are nervous to ask if I'm pregnant I get insulted, like do you really think I've just got this fat:laughing:?
Emma - love the pic, the girls are gorgeous. How are you feeling physically since the birth?
AFM - had lunch with a couple of friends and their DH's yesterday. One is 3 weeks behind me and had great 3D photos from her 19 week scan. I was so jealous as I only got 2D (and paid more!). I'm thinking of going to one of the specialist 3D places for a 'fun' visit to see bub again and get some nice shots. They recommend between 26-32 weeks as the best timing.

hi all:wave:
i have been lurking but not posting...i know, shame on me lol
Sorry for any personals i am about to miss!
Peanut - the 3d ones blew me away, i was really surprised! Def worth a fun visit if you can afford it :-)
Muse - sounds like the twins are having loads of fun in there! Playing twin twister inside mummy's tum!
herewego - i seem to over do things at the moment...i start and then just can not stop:o I love ticking things off the list though, it is a really hard balance!
Em - so glad the girls are thriving! It's great that you are expressing so much, i hope that their suck reflex comes in really soon and you can feed them directly and cut out the expresssing part, will make it easier on you i think.
Simon - it does look like Adi would have a sore back! But yes, the human body is amazing and it sounds as if she is going really well!
EK - i love the bringing baby home dreams! I am doing a combo of cloth and sposies until i find my rhythm. I just got a new batch that i ordered....and they are so damn cute!!!!
AFM - plodding along, trying really hard to manage my sugar levels...mostly succeeding so that is good news. Getting braxton hicks every day now which is good...and have a lot more energy at the moment too....am about to go and scrub out the kitchen lol
I have E home sick from school today so have been having a lazy day.
My acu guy is really positive about being able to bring labour on or basically having me ready to pop as soon as they do a S&S so am feeling better about how lil girl will enter the world now!
Baby shower is saturday and is here now instead of at my gf's place (long story) so am excited about that too!
Hope all are doing well....it's getting so close now...although i am due in 7 weeks...looks like baby girl should be here in 5 or less ...still nameless at this point though hee hee
hello everyone. am going to have a go at personals, but as it's been a few days since I've been on, I apologise to anyone I miss.
May - happy belated birthday. love the present.
herewego - I have had something similar in the morning too, but just thought it was normal for pregnancy. Love your new belly pic. I must put one up.
EKmum (and herewego) - I went to the baby expo yesterday with my MIL. It was fun. I ordered our pram (DH and I had already decided on it and they a good deal at the expo. We went for the baby jogger city elite in green with the bassinet. So excited about it.
simon - love the photo of DW.
emma - the girls look gorgeous. Sounds like the breathing is coming along. How long will they stay in hospital for?
Smiley - glad to hear you blood sugar is mostly under control. have a great baby shower.
Peanut - I had dud 3d photos from my 19 week scan. 12 week was much better.
muse - glad to hear all is going well.
hello to everyone I've missed, dragon, cazz, sydneygirls and everyone else.
AFM - busy few days. Had Friday off to look after my nephew as my sis and BIL had to take my niece for tests at the hospital (they came back good - yay). Saturday Xmas in July (my friend was running a bit behind) which didn't finish till midnight, so I was v tired, and yesterday was the expo.
I have been getting pain in my pelvis, low down in my pubic bone. I am guessing it must be pressure from expanding joints and ligaments, but will ask ob when I see him next. Has anyone else had this?

Jai - I've had quite a bit of discomfort in my pelvic region lately and I think it's just because bubs is pushing on it. Often when it is uncomfortable it also feels quite hard, that's why I've assumed it's just to do with the position.

Muse - LOL I must be tried forgetting that i was on here and putting DH's name thanks for saying my av is cute i think so too ;) when i had my scan each week the girls would change too mainly Taylah would change head down head up on top of Bridget and Bridget stayed head down from about week 28
Peanut - Physically good i was up the same day of the c-sec i walked from the city to home today i forgot how quick and easy it is to do that from where we live now..we never got a chance to get 3D pics instead we got the real deal
Smiley - At the moment i think they would choke on my nipples their mouths are too tiny but maybe once they are closer to their the due date they will be able to do that just happy that we can have cuddles each day thats great that the acu dude had good things to say to you i know you will get your wish (i keep missing you on FB) have fun at your baby shower you'll be glad that you ended up have one
Jai - At this stage they will be in hospital until they reach their due date so about another 7weeks i had those pelvic pains from about week 16 doc explained it like this to me ..you have two sides to the pelvis and in the middle there a ligaments with bubs in there they become loose to allow the head to pop through and thats why we get pains he said there is nothing we can do about it esp if you have to walk etc but bending down etc use your knees its something i dont miss :D
AFM - i think i'm over the sleeping thing i'm now waking up before my alarms go off for the dairy farm but it soo hard to express every 3hrs esp during the day when you are running around like a chook i wish had something more interesting to report back ..cant wait until you all have your bubs :)

Hey everyone,
Have been really busy - my mum is unwell. So haven't had much of a chance to post.
Emma - good to hear your little girls are doing well. It is great news!
Jai - I have had pain more so in my right hip and the top of my right leg. Booking in for pregnancy yoga and got a few stretches from a gp friend today. Plus a wheat pack.
Smiley - great news that your little girl will arrive soon. It must be exciting for you. Have you finalised names? And did you get much input into planning the baby shower or just hand over the reins?
Hi to everyone else.
AFM- have so many things i want to get done at home before the little girl arrives and while it looks like december 17 is the date - there is so much to pack into the next 18 weeks.
She wiggles so much I love it. Only problem for me really is this hip and right leg pain and now not being able to sleep on my back. Can't complain though, everything else heading in the right direction!

ok...long update lol
ok, i just have to say i am a very very happy girl today...what a change from last week lol
I still spent a tedious 3 hours in the waiting room of the hospital...but i did get to see the Lovely Leni so that was a good thing.
ANYWAY - when i checked in they made a mistake and actually put my file in the head of departments review pile (was not even supposed to see and OB today) ...i have a sneaky suspicion the last doc i saw marked me as a trouble maker (but that might be untrue lol). So anyway, he calls me in.
So...he says...."i've started reading your file...umm, do you want to tell me what has happened so far, it seems comfusing"
so...i run through the basics....placenta previa, diag vasa previa incorrectly, placenta has moved, have diabetes, on insulin...scan next wedensday..then appointment in the thursday clinic
he said...yes, thats what it all says lol. Then he said...what now...and your next appointment back in high risk...whats up?
so i said ... "well, the last OB i saw here said that insulin = induction at 38 weeks and CFM whole time and no active labour and i was sort of hoping for a more reasonable decision from high risk"
he went "oh, that is not my view...I would be much happier to let you go to 40 weeks dep on scan"
I said " i know, i thought it was size dependant but she said she would not allow it!"
he said...ummm, well, i am writing on your file that I will review it before induction...so, here is my name...and if you feel you are being pushed...then ask them to call me
yay yay yay
he also asked me if i knew the name of the other OB cause he wanted to have a "training session" with her about how to deal with GD cases!!! I don't know it...but i was so happy that he listened to me and heard me when i said i did not want to be induced too early and that I wanted an active birth (which he also supported and said he would suggest monitoring regularly...but not constant and would not require me to be on the bed).
so my acu guy will still be inducing...aiming for 38 ish weeks...but it gives us time and breathing space and i now feel i have someone to support me within the hospital! I feel like i could fly!
Then i saw the diabetes doc (like i was supposed to lol) and he was the registrar so also a wonderful experience. He listened, he advised, he supported, he reviewed...he left me feeling heard and understood.
So all in all...a wonderful experience!!!!
i will add, he did say they would be keeping a close eye...with scans at 34/36/38 weeks...and that if there was any signs of my placenta breaking down or bubs not coping then intervention would happen...but i said i am totally keen on that..if it is needed...just not because "standard procedure" says a GD case = xyz
so he is not saying i am without issue...or that it is all smooth sailing...just that my case will be treated as an individual person..and not a number.

lulu - hope your mum gets better hun. No, our baby STILL nameless....we can't agree...i am going to wait till i am in labour and demand my own way!
Emm - lol on the choking...they will get there! It must be hard waking every 3 hours when they are not there...so much easier when woken by crying then by alarm (and i mean that).
herewego and Jai - i get a lot of pelvic pain too...part of the joys of pregnancy i think lol. I am getting braxton hicks now too and i love them...every one is my body toning itself for labour and helping bubs get ready for entering the world.
:wave::wave: to everyone else...hope everyone is having a great week!

peanut I dont have any 3d pics either. Would love to get one! I'm very poor atm so cant afford to go to a 'fun' one.
Jai I have been getting pain in my pelvis too! Only just recently tho. Ugh, hurts to walk! Dont know if its because the babies have moved. They are both side by side and head down.. :o
Lulu hope your mum gets better! :goodvibes:
Its funny my 40 weeks is dec 17 too! Wish I could make it that far! lol
Bummer your in pain, makes it hard to get things done!!
Smileygirl so glad you had a win! :smiliedance: Must be a relief to have a doc on your side!! Its really good when your being listened to!!

Hi everyone:sunshine:
Jai - I think that sort of pelvic pain is pretty normal. Good to hear what your OB says tho.
Emma - your reports are soooo interesting, seriously! Please keep them coming. It's just so amazing to hear about your life with bubs, makes it real for all of us and you are our pioneer!
Lulu - hi, hope your mum is getting better. I know what you mean about feeling like there is just so much to be done.
Smiley - I am SO happy that you got some good news. This pregnancy has been such a rollercoaster ride for you and you totally deserve the birth you want. It's great that your accupuncturist is so positive and that you will be able to get cooperation medically. You've been amazing and I'm sure it will all pay off for you!
AFM - very excited bc we've booked the 'fun' scan for 5 Sept. You get 35mins of viewing on a big plasma plus a cd of 3d images, a dvd of 4d images and some prints to take away. The centre recommends between 26-32 weeks as the best time to do it and I'll be just over 29 weeks. My OB mentioned that bub will stop moving around so much after around 30 weeks cos there's less room, so I hope we've not left it too late. He's moving around so much at the moment, I hope that is still the case at the time of the scan. Anyone notice when movement changed? I'm hoping we've timed it okay...

Peanut - thanks I was only thinking the other day do they really want to hear me go one about them cause I could for days :-)
well today is another good news day both girls have put on their weight that they dropped after birth (normal for bubbas to lose weight at birth my mum was telling me that she went 2wks overdue so 42wks and I was only 2kgs at birth wow little and then I drop heaps of weight yikes) back to my girls Bridget is going well with her feeds so they are talking about taking her off the drip big step and Taylah won't be too far behind and I'm starting to make more boobie juice thank god .. Today Taylah (or lala as Dh calls her) was awake when I got there and I was just say her name and this massive smile came across her face it was sooo cute I wanted to give her a big kiss right then but me big head doesn't fit through the hole lol
I'm on the iPhone so I will check in later and read up on you all and do some personals

Emma - so exciting reading about your little girls doing so well :yelclap:
Peanut - how much is the 'fun' scan? we were really disappointed with the 19 week scan pictures, although there wasn't much the sonographer could do because bub just didn't want to show us his face.
Smileygirl - what great news that you will be supported in your birth choice rather than forced into induction early
AFM - The cot saga continues! The manufacturer has sent us a replacement piece for the damaged one ; but when DH put it in, he still couldn't get the dropside mechanism to work :(. I'm going to wait until the weekend and have a go at it myself (i'm more of a 'handy person' than DH) and if I can't get it working, we will go to the shop and ask them what we are doing wrong since they must have to assemble them for the show room displays.

19-08-2010, 08:53
Lulu - how's your mum doing? Is she in Sydney too?
Em - very happy to see that your girls are getting bigger and doing so well
Peanut - I'm just over 30 weeks and my little one is still moving heaps. My tummy is not too big either yet, so not sure how it moves so much.. anyway, hopefully you will get to see your little one wiggle away
Smiley - so glad for you sweetie.. it was only a matter of time before they listened to you! lol!
AFM - working from home today. Been really busy at work and just had to have a quiet one today and stay off my feet. The swelling is a little frustrating so I figure if I have a day where I stay off my feet, things may get a little better

Helloooo:flowerz:
Emma - fantastic that your girls are chubbing up and that you have more food coming through for them. 'Lala' - sooo cute.
Dougnut - the 4d is exy, $275 for the package we are doing. That's a shame about your 19 week one. At the place we are going they will give you time for a walk or book another visit if there's no good shots whereas some places cost the same but it's just too bad if bub is not cooperating!
Sydney - good idea to stay off your feet, hope it helps.
Dragon - happy 27 weeks, now no one can say we're not in the 3rd trimester!
AFM - bring on the weekend!
Smiley - glad to hear that you have been 'heard' finally! It sounds like this doc will keep a close eye on things and will be ready to support your decisions as things progress.
Emma - yay that the girls are doing so well. Love your pics on facebook! It sounds like you are a super recoverer (if there is such a word).... a week after surgery and you are pounding the pavement - go girl!!!
Peanut and Dragon - happy 27 weeks to you both!!! Peanut - i am 32 weeks and bub is moving around like crazy...I am sure it does star jumps at times....so I am sure your bub will stll have heaps of room to move around!
Sydney - hope you enjoyed your day working at home. Have you had trouble with swelling? Just your feet or all over? I hope staying off your feet helps!
Lulu - hope your mum is okay lovie!
Herewego - hows the leakage lovie??? I would definately get it checked by your ob....but I am sure it will be 'wee-wee' escaping. I have it happen alot, but only when I cough or sneeze - not just standing. Worth getting it checked though!
Hello to everyone else...hope you are all well!
I am 32 weeks today! Went for a 'sizing and well-being' scan this morning as doc thought bub was on the large size.......but only slightly larger than average......they estimate it is about 4lb (can't remember what she said in kilos) at the moment....so on track to be about 8lb....which is what DD was (8lb 1 oz or 3.655kgs). Everything else was great....she checked all the major organs (didnt see any distinguishing features in the nether regions...so still a surprise!!) and we got a very good look at the face....well for all of about 3 seconds when it put it hands up to it's face! It has very cute little chubby cheeks and pouting lips!!! So cute!! I am even more excited now......hate wishing time away....but roll on 8 weeks!!!
:hugs: to everyone!!!

Okay Emma, but I'm on my iPhone so this might not be a long one...
1st of all - happy birthday smileygirl! I hope you have a lovely day
sydneygirls - I hope you had a productive day working from home yesterday. Are those builders nearly finished yet??
Peanut - hello 3rd trimester! I definitely feel like I'm in the 3rd trimester now - bending down is becoming more of an issue lol.
May - it sounds like you've got a good sized bub there. I don't know about you but I feel like the weeks are flying by!
Hello to everyone else - I can't read back any further than this page sorry...
AFM - I've woken up with a headache this morning so I'm hoping DH hasn't given me his cold grrrr.... My feet and calves are aching and I blame mean old DH who wouldn't give me a foot massage last night :-( I saw some friends on Monday night and the ones I hadn't seen for a while were amazed at how much I'd grown. We've finally finished painting/wallpapering the office so now we have a lovely new room :D It also means I've been able to clear out the room that is going to be the nursery. I've got all the furniture (in the shed still though) so we just need to get a wardrobe. We're going to get the Hermes one from IKEA as it's a good size and not too babyish (it also doesn't come with a babyshop price tag!)
I've finally settled on a date for my baby shower. It was set for for Oct 2nd but I completely forgot we'd been invited to a wedding that day which we weren't going to be able to go to as DH is meant to be working but it looks like he'll be free now. TBH I don't really want to go but I would feel rude turning it down and then holding my baby shower on the same day. A few of our friends will be there, so they wouldn't have been able to come to my babyshower anyway. So....I'm having it in the Sunday. Now I just have to figure out what I can wear to a wedding when I'm 34 weeks pregnant :-/
BTW - for the Perth girls - if you're keen readers you should check out the save the children booksale at the uwa undercroft thus weekend. I go every year and there are heaps of cheap 2nd hand books there. They have all sorts - baby books too.
Have a good Friday everyone :-) I'm off to bake some choc brownies to take to lunch.

No but she has seen the girls either my aunty said she wanted to come to the hospital yesterday never called to say she wasn't coming but called my mum and said she couldn't handle seeing them with tubes etc but had she rang me she would have known that they don't have any tubes in them only oxygen she totally made it about her and not about meeting the girls which ****es me off
smiley - happy birthday. hope you have a great day. glad you had a good appt with the head honcho and that you may get the birth you want.
emma - MIL can be annoying. hope she gets over her own fears and comes visit the girls soon for the sake of you and your DH.
herewego - yay for finishing the office and starting to get the nursery sorted. hope you're not coming down with anything. hmm wedding at 34 weeks pg, you might have to check out the maternity shops, although, there are lots of normal dresses that come just under the bust. my gf wore a maxi dress to a wedding when she was about 34 weeks, and she looked great.
May - glad to hear everything is on tracke and bubs is normal size. that would have been lovely seeing him/her again. If I have another scan am sure I'll be asking if they know what it is.
peanut and dragon - yay for being in the 3rd trimester.
Lulu - hope your mum gets better soon.
sydney - hope the day off helped with the swelling.
doughnut - good luck with the cot this weekend. wow, what a saga.
hello to everyone else.
Yay its friday. :flowerz: got a 40th to go to tomorrow night, first one. then my mum's bday on Sunday. hoping to do some sorting out in the nusery tomorrow as it is still full of stuff.
have to say, does anyone have a thermomix? I bought one a few weeks ago and it is amazing. they are very expenisve, but they can do so much. Went to a demo last night and had the most delicious food cooked in it.

Emma - great recovery and the honour roll looks lovely! Grrr for the MIL, that's such a selfish attitude. I have a friend who's always like, ooh I hate hospitals and doesn't want to visit anyone. I feel like saying, suck it up honey they are sick so get over yourself and get in there.
Herewego - hope you're not coming down with something. Must be great to have a nice fresh new room.
Jai - I've been wondering about the thermomix and you are tempting me now. What have you cooked?
5 weeks of work from today and really having one of those days that makes me want it over now. Had a tough meeting this morning followed by a 5 hour management meeting that I am supposed to be in right now but ran out for some lunch cos I can't eat the ready made stuff they serve. Soooooo boring.

Jai - I have heard how good those thermomixers are, and DH's aunty was showing me hers and saying how fantastic it is. I can't help but wonder if it takes some of the fun out of cooking though? Also, can you really just chuck everything in and leave it or do you need to do things along the way?
Peanut - I've got 5 weeks left as well :D
I'm feeling a bit better now. I'll try to dose up on the herbal tea and lots of fruit as that is how I've tackled my other colds that I've had this pregnancy and it seems to have got rid of them pretty quickly.
Anyway, off to lunch now with my freshly baked brownies :chef:
Peanut - have made few things so far (but am still learning) custard, rice, dukkah, curry paste, thai chicken curry, steamed fish, soup, white sauce. so exciting, only 5 weeks to go.
Herewego - Depends what you're making as to whether you can just leave it or not. Eg white sauce, just put everything in, but for a curry you have to add stuff as you go. I thought about that too before I bought it as I really like cooking, but I figured that it would just make certain things easier. I still cook on the stove top and in the oven, depends on what I'm cooking. I also thought it would be good for baby food. I think that it makes cooking certain things from scratch easier. enjoy your brownies.

Quick update before I head out - today, finally, DH let me have a go at putting the cot drop side together (refused to let me even try before), and guess what, first go, I got it working! Go woman power!
Baby is moving around heaps - so cool!
Hope everyone is having a good Saturday despite having to vote and deal with all the electioneering - I am sooooo tired of it! :)

Doughnut : go the girl power! Those things are all so tricky. I'm not handy at all. We invited 4 bloke mates over today to swap 2 rooms around in our place. Can't wait to get all the rooms worked out. Its fun.
Sydney: yes my mum is about an hour away.
Emma: the relatives can be a total pain in the #ss! I'm going thru some aunty and uncle issues at the moment which I don't even dare start on about on here. I would never stop. Let's just hope we don't all turn into these people some day.
Afm: 22 weeks! Very happy about that. So much wiggling inside. It is very cool.
Baby is coming by c section and while they can't confirm date it is likely to be dec 17.
My mum loos like she has cerebral vascular disease. Not good - she on one hand has some memory of a 16 year old. But its effecting her planning and organisation. It
Has been pretty stressful. Hopefully get things worked out for her quickly now we have got to the bottom of what's wrong.
Smileygirl - Happy Birthday for the other day! Glad to hear that you have finally had the docs listen to you!
Emma - what a poor excuse your aunty has - and yes she has made it about her. Love the photos of FB the girls look like they are doing well.
Herewego - I hope you can fight off any dreaded lurgies! How exciting making a date for your baby shower and only five weeks of work left.
I'm sure you will find something nice for the wedding - I know Egg has some nice dresses. We have a wedding in November so I will have to find something for that - I will be about 34 weeks.
Jai - sounds like you have been cooking up a storm with your thermomix! I haven't got one but have heard lots of positive things about it.
May - I can't believe you are 32 weeks already! Looks like you have a healthy growing bub there.
Peanut - Yay for five weeks of work! It must be hard sitting through long meetings though.
Doughnut - go girlpower! Glad to hear you have your cot sorted out.
Lulu - I'm so sorry to hear about your mum's illness, it must be so hard. My thoughts are with you.
I have been having lots of movement too, it's great isnt it. Have fun sorting out your rooms!
Hello to Sydneygirls, Simon, Musebaby and anyone else I missed.
AFM - have had quite a sore back, but I think I have just strained some muscles. I have been having lots of movement from bub and even saw my tummy move last night:)
:flowerz:Have a great weekend everyone!:flowerz:

Jai - I have never heard of a thermomix what do you cook with it ??
Doughnut - in my last post that i lost yesterday i did say you should give it a go yourself i put both of the cots together men just dont have that logical part of the brain if you ask me for putting things together i only use DH for his muscles and even then sometimes i dont bother
Peanut - Woot woot for 5 weeks left of work i know the feeling of wanting it to hurry up ..i didnt even get to have a little break before the girls arrived i knew that would happen
EK - Yes it is a **** poor excuse but i'm used to it now everything always has to be able her ..funny thing is my aunt and DH's mum are only 2 days apart in age and carry on the same ..i feel for DH as his mum has even bothered to ask about the girls

Grr... I'm sick of waking up super early then not being able to get back to sleep because of my stupid restless legs. I feel like a zombie this morning.... I'm wondering if the sugar rush from the Turkish delight I ate last night had anything to do with it. I hadn't felt 'wingnut' move much yesterday (my 4yo niece really wanted to feel it so I was waiting for some kicking all arvo, otherwise I probably wouldn't have noticed) so I decided last night that a bit of sugar would get it moving and reassure me. It worked lol :D
Anyway, I've got 2 mutts and a dirty house to clean today :-( Hopefully I'll find a home for the remaining few items in wingnut's room. I can't wait to get the wardrobe as that will allow me to clear all the bags of clothes off the floor.

hi all!
Thank you for all the birthday wishes! I have had a lovely 4 days hee hee. I haave just woken up from my nap after all the excited and am feeling much better. We did everything from being out and about to chilling with takeaway on the lounge.
My baby shower was really good...am so glad i had one. There was about 20 people, lots of yum food, some games and lots of chatter. I got really spoilt with pressies and even MIL behaved!
Then it was Dh cooking homemade curry for the 6 of us (me, DH, my sister, my 3 friends here staying from interstate). WE popped a movie on about 9pm....but i promply fell asleep so DH woke me up when it was finished so i could go to bed.
Then this morning we had to leave at 7am to drive 2 of the girls to the airport...then into the city for a cafe brekky and to go the the Tim Burton Exhibition! It was great, but i was so tired...i even fell asleep in the car on the way home.
SO, i am very happy...34 weeks pregnant...and going strong!
Will do personals in a sep post lol

herewego - i find i sleep badly after a sugar rush! I hope you get a nap between cleaning today.
emma - wow, you are right it does seem to have flown...happy 2 weeks to the girls!!! Glad you have your ankles back! Hope your aunt pulls her head out of her butt lol
ek - i love seeing my belly move lol I hope your back feels better, are you seeing someone for it?
lulu - hugs for your mum! I hope they can find something that helps. Yay for 22 weeks and a wiggling belly!
doughnut - yay for girl power, well done with the cot!!!
jai/peanut - is funny, one of my friends was raving about them yesterday. I like the idea...but am not sure...something to investigate!
Everyone else - i can't see back the rest of the posts but i really hope you are all doing fantastically!!

Good morning all :sunshine: Hope everyone had a lovely weekend.
Herewego - we can count down the work weeks together :D
Jai - the thermomix is very tempting, must look into it some more.
Doughnut - I knew you'd have success with the cot, well done.
Lulu - sorry to hear about your Mum, I hope she can get the right treatment now. Yay on the room swap!
EK - hope your back is feeling better today.
Emma - congrats on two weeks for your little girls, hard to believe. That's right, you didn't get a break after working at all did you. Hope you are managing to get some sleep between feeds in preparation for bringing the girls home.
Smiley - glad you enjoyed your birthday and had fun at the shower! Look at you go - 34 weeks and all good, yay for you.
AFM - mistakenly had a cup of green tea last night after months of no caffeine so was awake till 1am with my mind spinning, grrrr. Anyway one of the things I was thinking about was where bub will sleep for day time naps. We have a bassinet in the bedroom for night time in the beginning but during the day I'd rather have him downstairs with me than up there alone. Not sure what to use though, don't want anything bulky or big. My SIL just had a little mattress thing with moulded sides that you can put on the sofa, table etc. Otherwise I thought somewhere here mentioned about using the basinette from the Bugaboo, anyone know if that's safe? Or maybe something like this: http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=2002&e=product&pid=51903&ncat=thumbnail&pcat=bgpy ?

On the phone
But peanut what about a Moses cot they are portable ??
peanut - I'm planning on using the bassinet in my pram for day time sleeps, so I don't see why you couldn't use your bugaboo.
herewego - waking up early is so annoying. that often happens to me on the weekend. DH reckons it's cause I'm so excited its the weekend.
Emma - a thermomix is a machine that combines, a blender, food processer, mixer, cooker and steamer in one, so you can chop and cook in the same machine. wow, the girls are 2 weeks already, time flies.
lulu - sorry to hear about your mum. now they know what's wrong, hopefully they can treat it.
smiley - sounds like you had a lovely few days.
ekmum - hope your back eases up soon. it's so exciting when you see your belly move.
doughnut - yay for fixing the cot. sometimes I think girls take the time to read the instructions more carefully which can help.
hello to everyone else.
AFM - another busy weekend of sorting things out at home. got rid of my desk from the baby's room. only the bookshelves to go now, but still have loads of stuff on the floor. Was my mum's bday yesterday so went out for a nice family lunch. the 40th was really fun too. Got to catch up with a few people I hadn't seen for a while and everyone said pregnancy really suits me, so that made me happy.

Peanut - My friend used the bassinet from her Bugaboo for her baby to sleep in because she lived in a tiny apartment. I can't see how it would be different to a regular bassinet! I think I'll do that when we are out too :)
Emma - Love seeing the pics of the girls on FB. Keep them coming! :yelclap:
Smiley - Sounds like you had a fabulous birthday weekend! So glad that you are off bed rest now & can enjoy your pregnancy a little more. How are you coping with the GB now?
AFM - Just came back from my 2 hour glucose test. I had the 1 hour one a couple of weeks ago & my levels were elevated. I'm terrified they are going to tell me I have GB, meaning I can't eat cake any more

23-08-2010, 11:43
Peanut - I purposely didn't have my usual cup of tea and piece if choc last night and I slept like a dream. I woke up once but went straight back to sleep again. I think that may be the answer to my sleeping probs.
I'll be back for more personals later :-)

Peanut - I think your bassinet will be fine. I'm either going to use that, or the bouncer chair that I've got - similar to the fisher and price one. I don't see what harm it could come to in the bassinet, and at least you can move it around if you need to.
Doughnut - so all the cot needed was a woman's touch ;) I'm glad you got it sorted at last.
Smileygirl - it sounds like you had a jam packed weekend, fitting your birthday and baby shower into 2 days. It must be so nice being able to get up and move around. Do you know why you're not getting as much bleeding now, even though you're moving around more?
Emma - 2 weeks have gone quickly. I know you said they've reached their birth weight already - are they continuing to put on much weight?
Cazzstar - I hope your glucose test results come back okay. If not, I hope you enjoyed eating all the chocolate in the house :p What will you eat now if the results come back okay?? You'll have to send DH out for an emergency chocolate dash.
AFM - As I said before, cutting out the tea and chocolate before bed made a world of difference to my sleep. I woke up feeling like a new woman :) I went and did a bit of shopping this afternoon and bought myself some much needed new sneakers. The shop assistant was putting the shoes on my feet for me and I was saying that I wish I had someone who would do that at home for me  It's getting harder and harder to reach my feet! I've also been buying little Christmas presents as I see things because I figure I won't be in much state for Christmas shopping after the baby's born. I found this lovely little nursery rhyme book where you can record yourself reading each page out loud. I thought Wingnut could give it to DH for Xmas so that he can still read a bedtime story when he's away on roster.
Has anyone had a look at a book called 'Birth Skills' by Juju Sundin and Sarah Murdoch? A friend lent it to me and it's really interesting. It doesn't tell you you shouldn't have drugs or anything, it just teaches you techniques to deal with whatever birth you choose. It's all about controlling your fear of the pain of labour and ways to manage the pain through distractions and movement. It's worth a look, and it's actually got me thinking that I'd like to see how far I can get before I had an epidural (this is from me, who initially thought a c/section sounded like the most appealing option!)
Peanut - the only thing (so I'm told) with the pram bassinets is that they are not as breathable (if that makes sense). Although lots of people do use them. A moses basket would be another good option.
Herewego - Buying some chrissy presents is a great idea - I think I will have to do that myself!
Cazzstar - hope your results come back ok for you. I'm worried about it too - I haven't had my test yet.
Smileygirl - you are doing so well - nearly at 35 weeks, so your girl must be doing well.
Sounds like you had a very busy weekend. Glad to hear you had a great baby shower.
Hello to Emma, Musebaby, Simon, lulu, positive thinker and anyone else I missed.

Have you heard of lactation cookies? Do you think you would give them a go? I heard they taste yummy!
Im going to try them - at least to see how they taste.. :p
doughnut funny that your more of a handy person then your DH! My DH works with nuts and screws and I am the one who puts together the flat packs as he cant figure them out!
sydneygirls hope the swelling has gone down!
May glad everything is well. very cute chubby cheeks!
Smileygirl Happy Belated Birthday!!!! Glad you had a great time at your baby shower!
Herewego sounds great that you can get stuck into the baby room. Im so excited for you!
Have fun at your baby shower!
Hope you were able to get more sleep. Ive been having restless nights also!
Jai hope you had a wonderful time at all your parties! you must be happy about getting closer to getting your nursery ready.
Lulu sorry to hear that about your mum! :hugs:
EKmum hope your back is better!!
cazzstar I hope you dont have GB. I would hate not to be able to eat cake!!
AFM I have been up and down... Baby hormones dont help! DH got on a job, so his away now. So he is now in north QLD for 3 weeks or more.. :( So dont know when I'll see him again. Its good that we will have more money, but I miss him!
Yesterday my older dog (he is 10) was moping around and I noticed he had problems with his eyes. I used some eye drops to help to clear it up. But he didnt eat his dinner!! Which is not like him at all!!! :( I am hoping that he is just missing DH! And he eats his dinner tonight!!
Bloody tiler was suppose to start on Monday and said he had to put the job off until Wednesday! He was suppose to ring me last friday to confirm and when he didnt, I rang him on saturday and this is the news I get! Too bad if I was sitting at home on monday waiting for him to turn up.
I told him I organised days off with work so I could be here and he said he cant understand why I need to be here when he is doing the job. wtf??? Am I crazy?? I leave for work at 5am. Im not leaving a key out! Plus I dont know him from a bar of soap! Anyway going to call him today to see if he is still coming tomorrow!
Got my next scan on monday. Babies have been moving like crazy. Especially the boy! He packs a mean kick!
I am getting huge!! And I am growing outwards! Everyone that sees me says I look like Im ready to give birth!
Ive been getting weird *** spiderveins on my right ankle! i know that can happen, (and I have others in other places) but it seems to be spreading quite quick there and last night I noticed a blue type bruise on the top of my foot. I am wondering if that can wait until my ob visit on the 17th??
Im starting to get a bit uncomfortable and wondering how long I am going to last at work.
I am wondering twin mummies how long are you/or did you last at work???
My mandatory 6 weeks starts on the 5th of Nov. But dont think I'l last that long.. Especially if I give birth before then!!
But everything is going well so far! The only prob I have is that I am a RhD-negative mummy.. which is easy fixed!
sorry for the super long post!!!!!

Cazzstar - sorry your results came back sucky that really bites
Musebaby - No i havent heard of lactation cookies ..but i lovvveee cookies so i might have to look into those ....Bummer about DH being away but yah about the extra $$..Make sure you tell that tiler that he is being paid to do a job so he should turn up when he says he should ..I never got any time off work i still had another week left when i had the girls thank god work paid me an extra weeks annual leave that i didnt have
Hi everyone else
Bridget & Taylah Update
So both girls are doing great they have taken them off the cpap and put them on the air flow which starts at level 6 and they are already down to level 4 once they get to level 1 they will move them to the next level in the NCC at this rate that could be next week but not getting our hopes up too much ..i was also approached by the doctors to write a blog for the newsletter they have this is the first edition so i was quite happy to be asked they wanted me to put together my thoughts etc to help out other mothers so that they know they are not alone...so this is what i wrote (with the help of Positive Thinkers editor skills who re-jigged it for me) the doctor came up to me after she read it and gave me a big hug and said it brought her to tears so thank you PT for helping me out
No matter how many NCC tours you have, nothing can really prepare for when you have your baby early. The thoughts beforehand of “how many wires and tubes will my little ones be connected to?” and “how long until we get to take them home?” were a huge mental struggle.
We tried to prepare ourselves for those “ups and downs”, but those first few days and nights when Bridget & Taylah were born at 30 weeks, were overwhelming, scary and we just felt utterly helpless. We had a little relief when we saw that the girls didn’t need to have that many wires and tubes on them. However, I would cry myself to sleep while I was still in the hospital when I just wanted to be home with John and my girls, I wanted to be a family at home. The thought of them being in NCC without us was agonising, the thought that someone else being their main caretaker is extremely frustrating, wasn’t that our job as Mummy and Daddy? Someone else was there when the girls were upset or just need comforting, but not us because we couldn’t be with them all the time.
During our first visits to see the girls in NCC, John and I felt guilty about being happy or for even smiling in there. Wasn’t this a place for sick kids? Shouldn’t we be upset? But we knew crying all the time won’t help the girls. We knew they would sense it when we had come to see them, so we make sure that we are happy when we see them, as we know that Bridget and Taylah will only get better faster if they feel our positive attitudes.
The important thing for us is “balance”. It is not possible to be at the NCC 24/7, trust me if I thought I could have negotiated that, I would have! So, having a routine is the key for us. It was (and still is!) a challenge, as a Mum, to wake up at 3am to express. Now I know interrupted sleep is one of the downsides of parenthood, but it takes a lot of will power to wake up to the alarm instead of crying babies and I just have to do it, it is best for my girls. The pressure to produce breast milk can be stressful in its self, so I try not to put too much pressure on myself and take comfort in knowing that I am doing what I can for them.
John and I are doing our best to enjoy being Mummy and Daddy, we are sure to smile and stay positive around our girls, and we are doing what we can when we can. Sometimes even if it is just changing that dirty nappy (had to laugh the first time John changed a nappy ever in his life and Bridget shoots a poop straight at him ... what luck!).
We think by the time the girls reach their due date we might have met every NCC nurse that works here. We might have to keep a record of their nurses to see how many we do meet!
Throughout all of this, it is a blessing to know that Bridget and Taylah are in the best place for them and receiving the best care and attention, even if it wasn’t us that could personally provide it. Don’t be afraid to smile for your baby, a positive attitude can only be good for them.

Em - That was really lovely. Nice work! It will be really inspiring for other couples in your position.
Muse - I agree, twin mummies should definitely finish work sooner. My friend worked until 36 wks with her son but there was no way she could have done that with the twins. It's so important for you to take it easy. Sounds like that tiler needs a stern talking to! :shame: How your doggy today?
EKMUM - Good luck for your test! When do you have it? Do you start with the 1 hour one?
Herewego - That book sounds good. I'm always on the lookout for a good one! I think I need to get new sneakers too. I absolutely hate wearing joggers but they are the most supportive thing at the mo. I keep wearing my converse but they have no support & my feet really ache. Not keen to be rocking the Jerry Seinfeld look with joggers & jeans!!
AFM - My brother moved out yesterday so we can finally start getting the room ready. Also got rubbish news from the docs that I do have gestational diabetes :( I have the specialist appointment today so will see what he says. It's weird because I feel fine, haven't put on an excessive amount of weight and obs always tells me that baby is the 'right size'. I guess I'm just going to take this as a big kick up the bum to eat super healthy for my little girl

:gloomy: lil bit upset this morning. Had to take my dog to the vet yesterday.. His very sick. Vet said he had kidney failure, bad heart and enlarged prostate. They put him on a drip and he stayed over night to see if he gets any better. Vet said he has improved a little, but not much.
Its a bit devestating as there has been talk about putting him to sleep. Very hard decsion to make. And wish DH was here! He wishes he was here also! :( Been very hard to keep my emotions under control!

muse - hugs about your dog, i really hope that he improves!! You should def be finishing work before 36 weeks, if not altogether stopping...then cutting hours and days so you get enough rest.
cazz - the GD is not too hard to manage once you get the hang of it. My bub is small for dates...so there goes one of their theories! Mostly i feel great too...it is not logical, it is just what your body does :hugs:
emma - you made me cry lol I think it is wonderful what you have written and will help many people and poss even the staff. Am so glad the girls going from strength to strength!
EK -
herewego - now my placenta has moved it is not getting battered, so it has been able to heal and not bleed. They still a bit worried about the edge not being totally attached but not bleeding is a great sign. I've been reading Birth Skills too...i really like it :-)
hi to anyone i have missed :-)
AFM....
well, ultrasound again today and lil miss is doing really well. She is weighing 2.267 KG (5lb) and is 40 th percentile (so a bit small for dates but not too small). She has enough fluid, placenta looks ok (still functioning and no more has come loose) and is clear of cervix (about 6cm away). Blood flow through umbilical cord to bubby is also in optimal range.
bubs is head down and sitting nice and low...she was very happy to kick back when ever the "doppler" thingo was pushed where she didn't want it pushed lol
Got some awesome pictures too.
Am totally exhausted atm, i think that the weekend may have been a lil too much for me lol Am home now (with Elliott) and we are both having a rest.

Hello everyone:sunshine::sunshine::sunshine:
Thanks for the feedback on my bassinet question. Think I'll try the Bugaboo and see how it goes, saves buying yet another piece of equipment. I wonder how long he'll fit? My SIL has a simple portable mattress thing that could be good too. I do love the Moses baskets though, very cute.
Jai - you must have that pregnancy glow on, based on your friends comments! Nice.
Herewego - glad you've been getting more sleep. One horror night was enough for me, just because I mistakenly grabbed a green teabag instead of my raspberry leaf, argh. That book sounds worth reading too. I'm a bit like you, was all for the caesar and now feeling like trying to see what I can do.
Muse - so sorry you are without DH for a few weeks, that must be really hard. You need to take it extra easy with twins on board so an earlier work finish might be necessary for sure. I am so sorry about your dog, I know that I would be devestated too. Hang in there, no need to decide anything immediately.
Emma - I loved reading your story, thanks so much for sharing. It brought tears to my eyes, you've been so strong and brave. I know the family will all be together really soon.
Cazz - so sorry about the GD. That sux. Pritikin cake perhaps? Not much help I know...but it's all for a good cause and not too much longer.
Smiley - so glad you got a good report and some nice pics too.
AFM - it's my birthday today so very happy as I got an iPad from DH and a nice dinner tonight then no work till Tues as we are off skiing (not me!) for the weekend. Yay.

Smiley - You too! How strange, neither of us are overweight, we feel fine & bubs are average size! How is your blood pressure? Apparently that's another indication but mine is great so who knows! I think it's all just a cruel joke so we can't eat cake ;)
Muse - I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. They are such a huge part of the family it's devastating when something goes wrong. Do you have family close by that can help you if you guys decide to put him to sleep? Sucks so much :gloomy:

cazz - my BP is perfect lol I am a little over weight:(:(, i put on about 20kg before getting pregnant (3 iui, 3 ivf, steroids, blood thinners and comfort eating lol). I have only put on 10 since getting preg though (thank god) but still have a LOT to lose after i have lil miss!!!!

Hi guys!
Been abit slack with the posting lately but read daily to keep up with where everyone is at.
Cazz- boo on GD, I just did my 2 hour test this morning too, hopefully it comes back ok, been pretty bad so probably gonna pay for it.
Peanut- happy birthday DD buddy! I thought raspberry leaf tea wasn't good for you... I might be wrong but I thought I read it brought on premature labour.
Smiley- glad to hear everything is back on track now and your little one is doing well.
Muse- sorry about your dog, mine died of cancer a few months ago, it was devastating he was only abit over 2 years old :(
EKmum- sorry to hear about your mum, hope everything turns out ok.
Emma- love the update on your girls , can you post a pic on BH?
Hello to everyone else I've missed on the phone and can't see back very far and the pregnancy brain won't let me remember what I've read over the past week :)
AFM- elevated levels on My 1 hr glucose test, did 2 hr one this morning, BP abit high too. Bummer! Otherwise doing great bubs is happily learning Kung Fu in there, trying to master the big kicks. 28 weeks tomorrow! Yay! Only 12 weeks to go but hey who's counting :)
Peanut - Happy birthday. Hope you have a lovely dinner tonight. I love raspberry leaf tea, but like dragon had heard you shouldn't drink it till your last trimester. I have been sticking with my normal cup of tea a day and the occasional coffee for now.
Cazz - bummer about the GD. How did your specialist appt go?
Muse - so sorry to hear about your dog. they are truly part of the family. Hopefully he will get better. :hugs:
smiley - so glad to hear your scan went well today. sounds like everything is improving.
Emma - loved what you wrote about the girls being in ncc, it was so honest.
dragon - hope your gd test comes back ok. I am really craving strawberry freddos at the moment - prob my first proper craving.
herewego - I am definitely going to have to check out that book, it sounds good.
hello to everyone else.
afm - went to hbf today to find out about getting baby put onto my private health after birth and was amazed to hear that children are covered under a family policy until they are 18 for no extra cost (and 25 if in full time study) - no wonder health cover is so expensive.

Muse - Sorry about your puppy hope he gets better and you dont have to make that decision
Dragon - I already have pics up and my profile pic too you might have to log on via a pc to see them :D
HI everyone else

Peanut - happybirthday A skiing trip sounds very excited. Will you be rugged up with a good book and some hot choccie? Or maybe you could spend the time figuring out how to use your ipad
Dragongal - I hope your GD results come back okay.
Muse - I really hope your pup pulls through. How much longer is DH away for? I love my dogs to bits and really dread the day I have to say good bye to either of them
Jai - I happened to be speaking to someone at hbf yesterday and was told the same thing. We're on one of the twin pack plans which are a bit cheaper, but that still covers a child. We were advised to think about upgrading when the child gets a bit older and might need things like braces etc.
Emma - that was a really beautiful article you wrote about the NICU and I'm sure a lot of other mums out there will draw a lot of comfort from it.
Smileygirl - good to hear everything is going well. My friend had a baby at the start of the year who weighed 5lbs, and that was full term! He was a tiny little thing. That's amazing that yours is already that size and still has a lot more growing time.
Hello to anyone else I've missed
AFM - not much happening here. I'm feeling a lot more kicking, especially right now because I just had a piece of bread with nutella on it. I think wingnut is feeling the sugar rush right about now

Muse – so sorry to hear about your dog, that is such awful news and terrible to be on your own. When my cat had heart failure it was gut wrenching, so I know how painful having a sick pet can be. Knowing when it is the right time to say goodbye is the hardest thing.:gloomy:
Lulu – hugs for you and your mum, must be terrible to have this bad news at a time you want to be as happy and stress-free as possible.:hugs:
Cazzstar – sorry also to hear of the GD :gloomy:
Smiley – great to hear your little girl is doing so well and no more bleeding – yay! :D
Peanut – happy birthday! Sounds like a fun weekend ahead.happybirthday

Jai- uhmm... Strawberry Freddos something I have had for ages :) you're putting bad thoughts in my head :) I love sweets and have been kind of bad. The thing is I do a finger prick test most mornings and my levels are fine that's probably why I'm not being careful enough.
Herewego- don't you just love those kicks... They are getting more powerful too. Sometimes I find myself awake at 4 am cos bubs is happily kicking away. I know the more movement the better but not impressed when my oh so important sleep is interrupted but should probably start getting used to it cos when bubs is here sleep will probably be a thing of the past so trying to make up for it now :)
Emma- will try and log on pc. My belly won't let me sit long enough, lying in bed with the iPhone is much easier. You are doing a great job expressing for the girls and they sound like they are doing fantastic! How does it feel to be a mummy?
Cazz- do you have to take any medication for the GD? Not looking forward to getting my results .
Hello to everyone else. This Christmas is going to be a special one for us all. Xxx

Howdy Ladies,
Peanut - Hope you had a great birthday yesterday.
Cazz - so what is the verdict on the GD?? Did the Dr confirm it (or have I missed a post :o)
Muse - sorry to hear about your dog.. they are certainly one of the family, I understand completely.
Smiley - so proud of you, you have had one hell of a journey so far and you are still hanging in there. You must have one special little girl in there
Em - your blog was beautiful. I'm sure it will provide a lot of support for others in a similar situation. That's one of the things about being on here isn't it, you don't feel so alone. Its great that you have been able to reach out to help others too.
Anyone heard how Simon and his DW are doing???
Hi to Dragon, Jai, Doughnut, Herewego and anyone else I have missed
AFM - everything is progressing fine... swelling is still there, its annoying and a little painful, but I'm sure it could be worse, so no use complaining.. just part of the deal I figure..... everyone keeps telling me that I am really little for 31 weeks, I just tell them its quality not quantity that counts

Well hello ladies. Thought I would jump on and see how you all are and catch up! Havent been around much lately, bit over the computer I think, enjoying these last few months of 'me time'!
Cazz- Bugger about the GD, hope you are coping ok with it? Not long to go I suppose in the pregnancy so hopefully it wont impact too much.
Sydneygirls- people tell you if you are too small and then when you get bigger, they say you are huge!! One of the office ladies at school has this theory that because she thinks I havent gained tons of non baby weight that I will need a CS?? What the?
Muse- Sorry about your dog. That is tragic, esp with the impending birth. Would have been nice for them to all meet.
Herewego- I have been religiously reading birth skills. It was recommended to me by a g/f who used it- drug free birth. It kind of inspires me that book!
Jai- weird having a family policy hey? I had to change mine from singles and its weird to think we are now a family with dependent child on the policy- nice tho too!
Emma- How are those little ladies of your going?
AFM- Been really great, still really active and trying to plan a getaway with DH when I go on leave. Dying to go to the beach, I feel so white! Enjoying the antenatal classes too, they are great for DH! :flowerz:

Knew things were going too smoothly for me. Hope everyone else is doing well.

cazz and dragon - big hug...it sucks to start with but gets easier :-) My big success food things have been ... low fat custard, bakers delight multigrain bread, milo, steam fresh veges for when i am feeling lazy, those sugar free lollies, really basic food like steak/chicken/lamb and vege. I have even gotten away with having a KFC zinger burger but on a multigrain roll lol I found that day time eating was ok....but my overnight levels just went up and up...it's not just about eating right...so don't be too hard on yourself!
zac - hiya! glad things going smoothly for you...a beach getaway sound LOVELY!
Sydney - aww thanks hun! ahhh, the comments too big , too small, too high too low....gotto love being a mummy!
doughnut -
herewego - i know...she is doing well in there...4 weeks should hopefully see her to 7 or 8 lb....no 10 like her big brother lol. Love the kicks...and oh i would LOVE some nutella lol
emma - chuck the computer and the mobile broad band!!! How the girls? They turned the machine down again?
Jai - oh strawberry freddos!!!! I used to have my mum send those over to the UK when i lived there lol
AFM - nothing to report so that is good. Have been very very tired the last few days...slept 10 hours last night and still needed a nap! But, at least i got some housework and cooking done today. Have also started drinking red rasberry tea 3 times a day...it is supposed to help tone the uterus and also to reduce blood loss during birth and help reduce any tearing...it's only OK after 32 weeks though!
Is anyone else doing anything to prepare for labour???

Happy Friday!
Thanks so much for all the birthday wishes!
Cazz - can't say I have any nipple warmers but will be watching out for that.
Dragon - glad to hear you are doing well but sorry about the GD. Maybe some of that sugar free chocolate, there's some not bad stuff you can get in health stores. The movement is all very cool at the moment isn't it. Sometimes my stomach lurches like he's doing somersaults!
Emma - loving the iPad, very handy for the bed or sofa too!
Herewego - yep it will be hot chocs, facials, reading by the fire and chick flicks all the way in the snow. We're going with friends who have an 8 month old so will have him and his Mum for company while the boys ski.
Sydney - glad to hear you are well other than the swelling. I get the 'small' comments too. My MIL told DH that I'll go early cos bub will run out of room!
Zac - oh the beach would be so nice, just to lie there and get some sun. Where are you thinking of going?
Smiley - no nutella but you can have peanut butter at least, I couldn't cope without that! There might even be a sugar free Sweet William brand 'nutella' I've seen in the health bit of the supermarket.
AFM - had a lovely birthday but yesterday was a bit crazy getting ready to go away today. So much to take as our friends don't like to take the baby out at night so we have to cook which means carrying so much stuff up there. Not really my idea of relaxing!
On the raspberry leaf tea, some say to avoid it early on but there's not really any evidence of it causing prem labour. To be on the safe side tho I started in the 2nd trimester with one cup per day and now on two in the third which I'll increase to three in the last eight weeks. There's pretty strong evidence for its effectiveness so it's worth a go I think. We are heading off today so must get moving. Have a great weekend all!

Ladies, hope everyone is well ... sorry this is a quick "I need information" post.
I have just been to see my OBGYN and am feeling a bit steamrolled. She has told me not to write a birth plan, that I can't use the bath and that I HAVE to birth on the bed. This was not what I was going for. I have written a set of birth wishes (pretty simple stuff) and on it I was hoping to use the bath for pain relief, have an active labour and birth however I feel like birthing. I do not want to be dictated to.
How is everyone else going with their OBGYNs and getting what they want? Have they been supportive?
Any advice would be appreciated.
smileygirl
27-08-2010, 10:14
pos - what were his reasons for that? Is there a medical reason? cause it seems totally illogical to me (and it seems we have similar simple wishes). The whole thing is that adrenilin stops labour and by being forced into an unnatural place and restricted in movement.

27-08-2010, 14:41
Hello Everyone
PT - What on earth are the reasons for you not being able to use the bath? My hospital doesn't do water births, but they do recommend using the bath & shower for pain relief. They also recommend giving birth in any position that feels right for you! Unless you are having an epidural there's no reason you have to be confined to bed if you want to be moving, is there??
Smiley - I'm very jealous of your 10 hour sleep!! If red raspberry tea can reduce chance of tearing, I'm going to start sculling the stuff ;)Do you know if there's a too low blood sugar level? Mine went down to 3.7 after breakfast but has been around 6.1, 6.6 after lunch & dinner. Do you have the ketones test in the mornings? Mine came back high so I have to eat more before I go to bed. I have a sneaking suspicion that my diet is fine exactly the way it is. I will have to steer clear of pure sugar like lemonade, coke & lollies but I don't eat them anyway! I was surprised to hear that my choccy milk is actually good & I am allowed a little cake or choccy!
Dragon - I'm sorry to hear about your GD too  I think the diet is going to be fine but its the constant monitoring that's going to be a pain! I have made a little chart that I have to fill out everyday with food, times & levels. The good thing is that we know now & can keep it in check! Imagine if it wasn't diagnosed, we're lucky we can do something to control it now :-) I'll find out in the next few days whether it can be controlled by diet alone but it looks that way. Not keen for even more meds! Don't feel like you have caused your GD by naughty eating :shame: The specialist stressed to me that it's nothing I have done, it is purely our pregnancy hormones causing havoc with insulin in our bodies. There's nothing we could have done to prevent it.
Zac - Great to hear from you! Glad everything is going swimmingly for you. We had our last antenatal class on Wednesday night & really enjoyed them too. It was great to be able to talk to couples in the same boat. Ours was at the hospital & they invited a couple to come down & have a chat with us who gave birth the day before, she was bouncing around & looked fabulous so we all felt much better
Sydney - Sucks about your swelling. Make sure you put your feet up as much as you can! Yeah, Obs confirmed the GD. Boooo! People keep telling me I have a small bump too! When I went for a BT the other day there were 2 other preg ladies there who were 28wks, I was 31wks and half their size! I'll be happy with a petite one please... with a small head ;)
Hello to all the ladies I have missed!

Zacaudrey - how lucky you are to have nice enough weather to go to the beach. I am just loving the winter sunshine we are getting here at the moment. It's not quite beach weather though...
Smileygirl - I think I might have to start on the raspberry leaf tea soon. I was just asking my ob this morning whether he normally does an episiotomy and he said generally he doesn't, unless it looks like it's going to be a big tear and it's heading towards the anus. That just grossed me out!! I was picturing 1 big rip from fanny to anus  If the tea helps reduce tearing then it sounds good to me. A friend of mine told me that she 'stretched' the area a few weeks before giving birth just using her fingers. Charming!
Peanut - I hope you enjoy your weekend. That sucks that you've still got to cook dinners! I would like to have some sort of routine with our baby but hope to be flexible enough that I don't end up being a slave to it. Having said that, I guess it really depends on what sort of a sleeper the baby is and how it copes with changes to it's routine. DH keeps saying that the baby is going to have to fit into our life (I think he might be in for a reality check there though!) I just look at my sister who was an absolute slave to the routine and basically didn't socialised at all in the evenings for a year after her first child was born.
PT - your obgyn doesn't sound very accomodating. As long as you're aware that you might end up having to abandon your birth plan, I don't see how it can do any harm to go in there with an idea of what you want. TBH I haven't really discussed the birth side of things much with my ob yet. I mentioned that I was reading 'Birth Skills' and he just sort of grunted, so I'm not sure what he thinks of it!
Dragongal - what a bummer about the GD. It sounds like Smileygirl has done a lot of the groundwork for you!
AFM - I saw my ob this morning and everything is going well. I mentioned my 'leakage' problem and he said I'm probably just not emptying my bladder fully. He checked the fluid when he did my u/s and he said there was lots in there so it was fine. He also said if the fluid was leaking from my uterus then it would leak more when I'm lying in bed and the baby isn't plugging the hole so to speak, and I haven't experienced that.
After my appointment Mum and I went to see 'Cairo Times.' If you want to see a slow moving movie with the most bland leading character ever, then go and see this movie. It's had really good reviews, but I don't know why....
smileygirl
27-08-2010, 17:36
herewego - there is also something called an EPIno...which is like a sort of balloon thing that you pop in and inflate to stretch things before giving birth...also massaging can help makes things more stretchy and soft...meaning less tearing.
Cazz - under 4 means you are entering Hypo state and can lead to passing out and dizzyness....so be nice and careful. Under 4 for me means some jelly beans and a sit down...then 20 mins later a proper meal...be careful hun. Your other levels sound great....hope they say that way :-)
peanut - sounds like we will be increasing the sales of red rasberry tea lol I am on 3 cups a day now...it tastes OK so is prob good for my fluid intake as well.
hi everyone else
AFM - well I was up at 3am this morning ... le sigh. I think i am going to see a chiro next week as my shoulders and hips are not feeling very nice and it hurts which ever way i lay down. Oh well, minor complaint i guess and hopefully easy to fix.
I am having issues with E's school again, not sure if it is me being hormonal or them being a PITA...i have a meeting with his teacher and the head again on Monday... we'll see how it goes. I would love to home school....sigh

Herewego and smiley – I asked my ob about epi-no but she said just save your money and use your fingers.... or dh’s . Apparently it can help avoid tearing if you do that in the last weeks leading up to the birth. Good to hear the leakage issue isn’t a concern.
Sydney – sorry to hear the swelling is not improving – but not long to go hey?
PT – Can they force you to stay on the bed? Someone at work told me that during labour his wife was told to stay on the bed and she just refused and did whatever felt good! Maybe ask the hospital about use of the bath/shower because I assume the ob doesn’t stay in the room with you the entire labour.
Dragon – you can get sugar free sweets and sugar free chocolate, but they have artificial sweetener so depends if you worry about that or not.
:hugs:to everyone with GD – I haven’t had a glucose challenge test yet, DH has diabetes and so he is half hoping that I will get GD so that I will feel his pain – how mean!
AFM – sharp back pains have returned, grrrrrr, so taking it easy on the couch for a few days. Had a really busy day planned for Saturday, but think I’ll have to scale that right back. Can’t believe how much my belly has been ‘jumping’ today! So weird, but really nice being reminded that bubs is getting stronger :baby:
Hi Everyone! Sorry I haven't posted for a while....been reading though!
Now, where to start!
Doughnut - sounds like you might need to take it easy over the weekend....hope you back pain goes away soon. Isn't the jumping belly just the most amazing thing!
Herewego - good to hear that your leakage is nothing to worry about! Can i suggest if there is anything you can do to help prevent tearing...do it! I had a bad tear with DD and still suffering the consequences! I did know about Perenial massage before her birth...but it freaked me out a little....wished I had tried it now though! I have heard two trains of thought.....some say the episiotomy heals better....some say the 'natural' tear heals better....well my 'natural tear' took forever!
Smiley - sounds like things are travelling nicely for you....yay...about time for you lovie! Can I ask what the issue is with E's school? Hope it all gets sorted soon!
Dragon and Cazz - bummer about the GD. Hopefully it can be well controlled with diet and you can make up for the sugar deprivation after bubs are born!
Peanut - enjoy your weekend away! I hope you get to go out at least one night for dinner.....your and DH should go on your own if the others can't make it!!
Zac - helllllooooo lovie....great to hear from you!
Emma - can't believe your girls are nearly 3 weeks old! The time is flying by! How are they going in the past few days?
PT - sounds like your ob is a bit strange with all the rules? I can understand being confined to the bed if you have drugs that make it unsafe for you to move around or any other medical reason...but surely it is your choice on the day. What are they going to do...call the police!!! I would just go with the flow until the day and then you call the shots....believe me, they will not want to mess with a women in labour! Good luck with all!
Sydney - that is no good about the swelling.....does anything relieve it? Are you retaining fluid all over (hands, face etc) or just your feet? It must be very uncomfortable!
Muse - hope you are okay hun...hows the pup? I feel for you.....I worry already about when the time comes that we might have to say good bye to our pooch. :hugs:
Jai - how are you going? Hope all is well! How are the nursery plans going?
Ekmum - hello there! Hope you are feeling okay!
Hello to those I have missed!
AFM - well I have hit the wall totally this week. My energy levels have just plummeted (is that a word??). Ob says it is normal around this stage (33 weeks) but I feel horrible. I certainly didnt feel like this when pregnant with DD. I am trying to take rests when ever I can....but a bit hard since I have gone back to work and have DD to look after - lets just say she is watching lots of DVD's lately...poor little love! Going back to the ob next week so he can check this stupid hernia and also see if I feel a bit better than I did on Wednesday. Find I am very emotional as well......I can cry just thinking about something! Anyone else like that? Ohhhh dear...sorry about the whinge....just need to get it out sometime!
:hugs:to everyone!

Positive thinker- I just got home from the birth class in the antenatal series at the hospital and the midwife said that alot of OB's wont let you birth other than on thebed because they dont want to get uncomfortable and get on the floor! Is your an oldie cause she said that this is normally the reason! Outrageous I say. Some also dont want you in the bath for fear of you slipping and sueing them. My guy is cool with whatever but I have heard of lots others in your situation.
herewego
27-08-2010, 21:24
PT - you could always do what the couple on 'Offspring' do and ask that the obstetrician is naked for the birth. You might quickly find them agreeing to your other requests!

sorry quick me post. Had to have my dog put down on thursday, so have had a sad few days. :gloomy: Very hard to get use to him not being here. but I know his better off as he was very sick! And it sucks that I wont ever see him again! :( I know he was old, but it happened so quickly!
DH wont be home for at least another 2 weeks and then he goes off on another job for a month, comes home and then going off on another job!! which will mean that he will be coming home close to when I'll be giving birth!! At least we will have some $$. He plans to have 3 months off after the bubs are born too. So that will be good!
Happy Birthday peanut!

Musebaby - I'm so sorry about your dog. It must be so hard without DH there, and I'm sure it's hard for him too. Have you thought about having him cremated and then you can keep him in a special place or do something with the ashes when DH gets home? Hugs to you

Musebaby – Sorry to hear about your dog, we went through a similar thing a couple of months ago but the poor thing got hit by a car so it was quick and unexpected. DD still sniffles about it…:(
Positive Thinker – I wouldn’t want to be the guy/girl trying to tell you how to have your child while your in the middle of labour, they might get hurt!!
Smiley – good to hear everything appears to be settling down a bit for you (apart from DS’s school anyway..) as you’ve had a fair old rough trot. And a bonus getting some good sleep… DW is on 2 hour stints..:)
Dragongal and Cazz – Sorry to hear about the GD. Chocolate normally fixes everything so I guess you will need to come up with some other quickfix. Maybe just yell at DH or something, I hear that can be another outlet..:ecomcity:
Emma – Your girls really seem to be going (growing) well, I’m sure you’re starting to get eager about taking them home. Say hi to Mrs 8.12 at the bus stop for us all.
Pigglet – How’s the twins going?
Hi to Sydneygirls, Herewego, Peanut, Jai, Doughnut and everyone else. Hope the nurseries are coming along well.!
DW update: 33 weeks now
On Wednesday she had an ultrasound showing the twins within 50 grams of growth of one another, which is great news.
One of them is 2.3kg’s and the other 2.25kg’s so already about 5 pounds each.
They are both heads up and sort of facing each other but one of them has its feet near it’s head (I imagine it to be like trying to kiss your own butt!)
Friday appointment with the OB and we were hopeful of maybe an early delivery date, however as there are no issues at this stage, we are booked in for delivery 29th Sep. (Does that mean I’m kicked out of this thread?)
The only thing that is happening from now on is weekly fetal monitoring at the hospital to ensure everything keeps doing what it should.
DW is ready to have them now as she is a bit over not being able to sleep for more than 2 hours at a time, sleeping half sitting upright, and feeling like she is going to split…:hair:
I’m going to take some more photo’s of DW today so she can remind the twins of where they first lived..
:hugs:

Muse :hugs: So sorry to hear about your pet. You must miss him terribly especially going through it while home alone. Its a pity you still have a while to wait for the babies to arrive, they will be a great distraction. :baby::baby:
musebaby - so sorry to hear about your dog. :hugs: they are such a part of the family, it is hard when they are not there anymore.
simon - glad to hear everything is going well with DW and the twins, they sound like they are right on track.
PT - it hadn't occured to me to ask about birthing in other places besides the bed. TBH, I haven't really thought that far ahead yet, but sounds like I have some thinking to do and discussing with my ob, no idea what his thoughts are.
may - that's not good you are feeling so tired. maybe bubs is going through a growth spurt and sapping all your energy.
doughnut - bummer that the back pain has returned. hope you managed to rest on the weekend.
herewego - glad to hear everything is going well.
smily - hope you sort out the issues at E's school.
peanut - think I might start on the raspberry leaf tea now, sounds like a cup a day will be fine for now.
hello to everyone else I have missed, zac, cazz, dragon, sydneygirls.
AFM - saw my ob on Friday. No scan, but heard the bubs heartbeat on the doppler and ob felt my tummy and said everything is progressing normally. Have to do my diabetes test in a couple of weeks.
Another busy weekend, lots of socialising and going out. Went to a jazz club on Friday night and bubs loved the music, went nuts whenever the drummer was on. Had people round yesterday and ate so much, felt like my sides were going to split last night. Just can't fit as much in as I used too.

Jai - ooh, was it the Jazz Cellar you went to by any chance? Some friends kept going on about it for ages and ages so finally we all went earlier this year and it was great!
Simon - I'm not surprised that DW is over it! Hopefully she won't have too much longer to wait.
May - sorry to hear you're feeling so crap. I must say that I have really started to feel weighed down in the past week or 2. I think I'll be well and truly ready for mat leave when I finish in 4 weeks :smiliedance: Just try and put your feet up whenever you can.
Smileygirl - I hope you get DS's school issues sorted out soon. Is it bullying again?
Muse - how are you doing? I'm sure you're still pretty upset and missing your poor pooch :hugs:
AFM - DH got home last night and as lovely as it was to see him again I had such a bad night's sleep because I was restricted to only 1 side of the bed  I couldn't do my usual sprawl across both sides  Is anyone else finding they get really hot at night? I have had to push the downy off the past couple of nights (it's been a bit warmer here but not hot!). Last night I had to double check that the electric blanket wasn't on. My feet get especially hot. It must be that good old pregnancy warmth that I've heard so much about.
herewego - it was the ellington jazz club. I have been to the jazz cellar before and it is really good. def want to go back one day.

DH finally saw my belly moving today, but I didn’t get the reaction I was hoping for. I thought he would be excited, but instead he seemed to be grossed out by it and just said “I really didn’t need to see that, its freakish” and then just ignored me. It kind of upset me a bit as he’s been fairly uninterested in feeling the baby move etc, and I thought it was just because he hasn’t been around for any of the big kicks, but really he just doesn’t want to know about it. :( Has anyone else had this type of reaction from their partners (ambivalence, lack of interest)?
I’m also getting really tired of only getting a couple of hours sleep every night- its making me really emotional and less able to cope with stress and I have major stressful work stuff atm. Also been continuously thirsty, not sure if its just the dry winter air or a sign I have GD? Sorry about the whinge....just had to off load :ecomcity:
PS Herewego – yes to getting hot at night, its crazy huh?

Doughnut - You poor thing, that's a strange reaction from DH :( I think you should tell him how much it upset you. It's the last thing you need when you're already stressed. I guess everyone deals with things in their own way, I think our partners often feel a little left out, maybe it was more a reaction to him feeling kind of helpless?
I haven't had this kind of reaction from DP, but I'm fairly sure I would headbutt him if I did ;) I have had him feeling quite sorry for himself & kind of jealous saying "everything is about you". I told him it's very difficult for me to feel sorry for him when I am the uncomfortable one dealing with all the pregnancy symptoms as well as GD on top of it all!
It sucks your not getting enough sleep. Stress might be a contributing factor? Can you try some relation techniques before bed? A hot bath works a treat for me. But I think we all go through those horrible nights when nothing works. We just have to remember that they'll stop & we'll have some good nights too.
I've read that excessive thirst is a sign of diabetes but I didn't have ANY signs at all of it & I really don't think it's something you can know before the test. The doc told me that people don't really feel anything different. Do you get enough to drink during the day? If I don't drink enough during the day I drink loads at night.
Muse - I'm so sorry to hear about your dog :gloomy: It's such a rubbish time for that to happen. Are you alone while DH is away working? It's a rough time for him to be away especially being pregnant with twins. Thinking of you :hugs:
Hello to everyone else! Got to go get ready for my scan today! Hopefully Bub's not a chubba bubba due to this GD :fingerscrossed:

Doughnut- sorry to hear about your DH's reaction, you must have felt very disappointed :( my DH gets very excited everytime bubs moves, kisses my tummy all the time and every might puts his hand or face on my tummy and says to bubby kick for daddy. Males usually react different to different things though, I would definately tell him how upset you are about his indifference though.
Muse- sorry about your dog. Always sad when they are like part of the family but take comfort in tha fact that you have two little ones inside you, that's what I did when my dog died, I focused more on the little being inside me and tried not to be too sad.
Cazz- goodluck for scan today, how gave you glucose levels been? Mine have been pretty good. I prick my finger 4 times a day and haven't had a bad reading yet. I seey doc today so will see what he has to say. My friend has GD too and has continued to monitor her blood levels, she is 37 weeks bummer it's such a pain. But it has forced me to watch what I eat a little more.
Peanut- you're nearly going to get those 3d pictures huh? How exciting, hope you can post a pic of buns for us.
Emma- how are bridget & taylah doing?
PT- bummer about your obs, you should ne able to have what you want.
Simon- you cracked me up. Tried the yelling at DH, doesn't feel as good as the sugar though :) and you're definately kicked out of this thread unless you tell DW to hold on for a few more days :) just kidding!
Smiley- sounds like things have settled down for you which is great news.
Hello to jai, may, herewego, Sydney and anyone else I have missed. Not long to go until we get some birth announcements :)
P.S is anyone else terrified about the labour ?

Sorry about the typos, stupid phone but it would be a nightmare to go back and edit :)
Muse - so very sorry to hear about your beloved pooch :(. They certainly become part of the family. It will get easier with time and soon you will have 2 little munchkins to keep you extremely busy! It sounds like your DH is away alot....your doing really well to cope lovie!
Doughnut - Sorry DH didn't react how you expected. Unfortunately I think it does 'gross' out some DH's. My DH hasn't been overly interested in feeling bub or watching my tummy and he was a bit the same last time. He hasn't actually said it grosses him out but I have a feeling it does a bit. I think sometimes it doesn't all become real to the dads until bub is actually born?? I am sure your DH will be a great dad. I am totally with you with the emotions at teh moment....crying is a daily occurance for me at the moment. I am also having trouble sleeping - which has to contribute in a big way to our mood. :hugs: to you lovie - it is all normal....but very good and very important to talk about it! I am also very thirsty (and I dont have GD)....especially at night - dont know what this is all about?
Dragon - pleased to hear your levels are great!
Cazz - yay for your scan! I am sure bub will be perfect size!
Jai - your a social butterfly!!! Good on you! I wish I had the energy to socialise! That is funny that your bub reacted tot he drumming! It is great now when they react to noise! I am not sure if I mentioned this already - but our bub jumped a mile the other night when the timer went off on the oven....so funny!
Herewego - wow....cant believe you only have 4 weeks left at work! Where has that time gone?? Your bub will be here before you know it.....which means mine will be here even sooner ahhhhh.....getting so exciting now!
Simon - hello there!!! Glad to hear DW is hanging in there...poor lovie must be so over it by now! I am about the same gestation as your DW (34 weeks on Thursday) and I am well over it....and I only have one in there!!! 29th of September...wow!! As of tomorrow you can say 'this month'.
Smiley - how's thing with E's school going?
I am back to the doc tomorrow. Getting really concerned about this hernia - just so sore. I think I am having Braxton Hicks alot as well.....dont really remember having them last time. Smiley - you might be able to shed some light for me. My tummy feels really tight - sometime just at the top, sometimes at the bottom and sometimes all over....then it goes away. It can be a quite painful at times. Do you think it is Braxton Hicks? It was so painful on Sunday night I actually got out of bed and sat on the couch and timed them as I was a little concerned it might be early labour . I had about four then nothing. I have forgotten everyting from last time!!!!!!

Thanks all for your lovely comments!
herewego my lovely parents organised to have my dog cremated - as they live interstate. So that was nice that I didnt have to deal with that. Plus he was a large dog too.
I was getting quite warm a while ago, but now I’m actually really feeling the cold! My temp seems to be all over the place!
Yes - one bonus while DH is away is I have the bed all to myself and no snoring!!! :D Yaay!
simon it must be good to have a date now! I guess for you and DW its just a wait and see now!! Very exciting! :goodvibes:
Doughnut DH was a bit upset that he couldn’t be here when it happened.
As for the belly, at first he didn’t want to touch it, but I grabbed his hand and held it there. He is much more compliant since then. But unfortunately the babies seem to stop kicking when he puts his hand there. He has only felt them kick once!! But he really gets into it now. Puts his face up to my belly saying dad dad dad – trying to brainwash them!
About being thirsty – I get really thirsty after I go to bed!! I usually have to take a glass of water with me so I can drink it throughout the night!! It’s a pain in the *** as I have to get up to pee more often too!
I hope the stress levels come down for you! Cant be good for you!!!
Jai glad everything is going well!
Cazzstar how is GD going? That must suck! Ive got my test in about 2 or 3 weeks.
Yea Im on my own. Im coping tho – for now lol. DH will be home next week for a week. Which will be good! My parents live interstate. I do have a brother, MIL & FIL about an hour away. But my BIL and SIL are the closest and who I call if I need anything.
Dragongal your right about focusing on the little ones. For a few days I was really sad, but thought I had to snap out of it, as I was prob depressing the bubs. I felt bad as a day or two went by and a I didnt think of them! :(
And yes I am terrified about labour. Not sure what is going to happen! Natural or CS?? Ahhhh
May thanks! Sorry to hear about your hernia! That cant help any!! That must be crap, you poor thing! And wow Braxton Hicks! How does it feel? Is it just the tightening of the belly?
AFM got the tiling finished. It only took 2 days!! Looks good! It all happened at the same time as the dog. Although I didn’t like it happening at the same time. It was a good distraction, when I look back!
Had a scan yesterday. I got to see the boy smile. It was a big one too. Was soo lovely. The girl did a huge burp! Lol. As usual the boy was playing up while the poor lady was trying to measure him! He kept playing with his umbilical cord!

May- that hernia has been giving you grief for dome time, hope you get it sorted soon. Congrats on 34 weeks!
Muse- girls are certainly more placid than boys huh? That's great you got to see your two little ones again. It's always great to get some reassurance that everything is going well.
AFM- off to doctors soon. Is it not to have anymore scans after your morph scan. Would love to see bubs again. Will have to ask doc that one when I see him today :)

Hello everyone :flowerz:
PT - I haven't discussed the birth yet with my OB, actually wondering when he will raise it. But you have every right to plan for the birth you want, it doesn't seem right at all the response you got.
Cazz - your ante-natal classes sound great, esp getting to meet the brand new Mum and seeing that she survived so well! I've ordered a skinny bub with a little head too . Reckon he's gonna have DH's big head tho, ouch. Hope the scan goes well today.
Herewego - I'm with your DH, bub is going to be flexible and fit our routine rather than us being a slave to him. Might be delusional but it's getting me through! Watching our friends at the weekend, I sooo don't want to be tied to a routine like that. I'm reading about Attachment Parenting and plan to give that a whirl.
Smiley - the raspberry leaf tea tastes okay doesn't it, I'm in the habit of drinking it while eating a dried fig - just enjoy the combo for some reason. Hope you've sorted things out a bit with E's school.
May - I'm sorry you're feeling tired and emotional, how much longer will you be at work? Hope you get some relief from the hernia pain.
Muse - so sad to hear about your dog, I can't the bear the thought of losing ours and it's the last thing you need while alone and pregnant. I hope DH is back soon and that you can find some solace in the pending arrivals. Your scan sounds awesome!
Simon - excellent news that DW is going so well although I'm sure she's keen to get those bubs out asap.
Jai - I don't think it can hurt to start the tea now and it might help! Sound like a lovely weekend.
Dougnut - sorry about DH's reaction. Mine has also 'joked' about being grossed out and doesn't really show a great deal of interest in the kicks. He says it's all still a bit unreal to him and that he needs to go through the birth and meet bub before he can connect emotionally. Maybe your DH is a bit similar?
Dragon - your DH's reaction to bubs sounds so sweet. The 4D scan is this Sunday, can't wait! Yes, I'm terrified of labour too but sort of in denial about it as well. Easier that way:laughing:. Good luck at the doctors.
AFM - looking forward to the 4D scan this weekend. Back at work today after a lovely long weekend away, very relaxing and now only four weeks of work left. Yikes it's getting real. After watching our friends' approach to their 8 month old over the weekend I'm just really keen to try it out my own way. They got so stressed cos he was waking at night and we were totally bound to his routine. We even sat in the car for 45 mins after arriving in town for coffee as he'd fallen asleep and my friend didn't want to wake him. Is that typical? Each to their own for sure but I'm excited to see how I go with that and look forward to trying a different approach. I might be in for a rude awakening but finally I get to try my way.

Thanks everyone for your replies I found them really comforting. Had a bit of a cry and talk to DH and he is going to try to get a bit more involved and come along to obs appointments etc. Says he wasn't grossed out, just shocked seeing something that looked like an alien moving around inside (that movie has a lot to answer for). He also told me he's been doing stuff on his own like watched a documentary on pregnancy and childbirth (including footage) and he bought a book on being a first time dad (never mentioned this to me), so I guess he is interested in fatherhood, just not good at sharing it with me. I think bubs is jumping extra high in an attempt to escape the stressed out toxic environment inside me atm! Have been promised a massage tonight so maybe that will help with destressing and sleep.
On the thirst... I'm drinking (and peeing) all day and night, sounds like its common!
sorry this is post all about me - I'm completely spent!

Peanut - waiting in the car for 45 minutes does not sound like something I would want to do! When you mentioned attachment parenting it reminding me of a documentary on the ABC last year called 'Bringing up Baby.' Did you see that? They had 6 couples using 3 different sleep/feed techniques (2 couples per technique). 1 of them was the Continuum Concept which I imagine is similar to attachment parenting. It advocates co-sleeping, demand feeding, and generally incorporating the baby part into your everyday activities. The only bit I was a bit unsure about was introducing them to knives when they were about 2
Doughnut - my DH doesn't show a lot of interest in all the baby stuff, although he is interested in my belly. I would maybe tell your DH that it's okay for him to be a bit freaked out but it was quite hurtful the way he said it.
Jai - it's funny that at my previous ob appointment he did the same as what yours did, and I would have been about the same stage as you then. Maybe they follow the same formula  He did a scan at this one, so maybe you'll get one too
Cazzstar - I hope your scan went well today.
Musebaby - that's very unlady like of your little girl to burp
Dragongal - you probably won't have any more scans at the proper ultrasound clinic unless your doctor thinks you need one. You might have one at a regular check up though. I had one at 17 weeks, and then 29 weeks. Are you going through your GP? They might not have the equipment in their rooms.
AFM - I feel a sore throat coming on  Hopefully it goes away before developing into anything worse as I don't have time to be sick! Wingnut has been kicking away, and last night DH was resting his rest on my belly and could hear it's heartbeat. He also kept getting kicked in the head which I thought was quite clever of wingnut

Doughnut - that's good to hear. I've been a bit worried that when it comes to the birth DH is going to feel useless and will wish he knew what to do. It sounds like yours is right onto it!

Heya girls, gotta share this little 6 degrees of separation that Positive thinker and I just had....:flowerz:
We are in the same antenatal class and have had 3 together so far.Something must have clicked with PT after I replied to her post re the OB. Anyway there we go!! same class, same hospital.:)
Off to see the OB tomorrow, using up all my prenatal days that we get with the ed dept here in QLD. Hopefully the privates will be covered as my OB likes to scan each visit. There aint much room in there anymore.
Hope everyone is well!!

Herewego - oh I wish I had seen that doco! Attachment parenting is the same as the Continuum Concept. I'm really interested in it and have been doing lots of reading. Prob won't do co-sleeping in our bed but def right by the bed and want to try the responsiveness and integration into everyday life. Hoping to learn more about the practicalities - how did it go in real life on the show you saw? Haven't heard about the knives but don't much like that idea!
herewego
31-08-2010, 21:27
Peanut - you might be able to access it through the abc website. It seemed to work really well for 1 couple. The other woman had quite a traumatic birth and was having feeding problems so I think she had trouble coping but not because of the continuum concept. There was also the 'Dr Spock' philosophy which was also quite relaxed and more of a 'work out what works best for you' approach. Then there was this awful woman who used this post-war style of parenting where you were not to make eye contact with your baby or play with it! She made the parents stick the baby outside for a couple of hours of fresh air - during an english winter and in a garden where there were often foxes!
Zacaudrey - what a small world!
Zac and PT - wow what a small world it is sometimes.
Peanut - I have definitely learnt a lot of things not to do after having watched some of my friends with their babies and the way they rule their life. have asked my sis to lend me the books she read as she has the best attitude I have seen to child raising so far and a really good child/her own life balance. One thing they always did was to take the children (from babies) out with them and now they often go out for dinner to casual places (at 6pm though) with their 3 1/2 and 2 1/2 yo.
herewego - hopefully I might get a scan at my next appt, that would be lovely. not looking for the GD test though.
doughnut - sounds like your DH really has thought about it, but just hasn't told you about it. hope your massage was nice.
dragon - how was your appt? are you having another scan? think it depends on the doc and their usual practice.
muse - your scan sounds lovely and a nice distraction.
May - hope your appt goes well today. my tummy feels like too sometimes, so figured that may be braxton hicks, apparently they can start pretty early.
hello to everyone else.
Am off to Broome in a week for 4 nights for a girls holiday. so excited. It was organised ages ago. really looking forward to relaxing in the warm weather.

Jai - I def intend to take bub out and about. I have friends who've done that from the start too and their kids are so much more adaptable and easy. I think that balance is so important. My friend says you have to be 'tough' to drag bub about when he's tired etc but I think as long as he's with you he's happy and will learn to sleep anywhere. What is tough to me is letting him cry himself to sleep everynight like happened over the weekend.
Herewego - I think from my reading that the Continuum Concept is the initial research and Attachment Parenting seems to have adapted it to modern life. AP seems more practical, less extreme and no knives involved! There's a good website about it and I bought some books there too. I'll look into Dr Spock too, thanks.

Dragongal hope your doc visit went well.
peanut I dont think I will be sitting in a car for 45 mins... :p not wanting to wake bubs!!!
I know a SIL of mine doesnt have a bedtime for her two little ones. They are 3 & 5 and lets them stay up every night and only puts them to bed after they pass out on the couch!
doughnut your DH buying a book and watching baby related stuff sounds like he is generally interested.
I think it must be a little hard for the partners to bond at this stage! My DH gets jealous, its kind of funny in a weird way! He gets into the belly stuff now, but doesnt read or watch anything!
herewego hope you dont get sick! :fingerscrossed: Hate sore throats. How cool is that hearing the heartbeat!
I dont like the sound of that concept of not making eye contact with your baby!!
zacaudrey how funny is that - being in the same class!!
Jai have fun on your holiday!!! You lucky girl!
AFM feeling really tiired last couple of days. Left work early today, so I could come home and rest! Think I'll only last another 3 - 5 more weeks at work!!
DH comes home in a week! :smiliedance: yay!

Muse- can you finish work early? that would be good esp if you have a full on job and on your feet. Ive only got 2 half weeks of work to go!
Doughnut- its kind of nice that DH bought the book and watching stuff. My DH hasnt read a thing- slack bum. He wishes it is all on DVD!
Jai- we def want to get bub out and about as much as possible. My niece and nephew never go out and have some pretty bad table manners ( dont know if it is related) I have alot of mates who take stuff with them for the littlies to do. Have a great time in Broome if I dont get on here again!
Herewego- I did see that doco a while ago. V interesting!
AFM- Just went and saw the OB. Geez I love him! The baby is on the big side, he reckons maybe a 9 pounder by dd. Will maybe be induced if he keeps getting big. Aparently cutting down on sugar of any kind will help he/she not blow out of control! I was planning a drug free birth!!

Jai & muse- my appointment was pretty short, he was just checking up on my Gestational diabetes and glucose levels and was making sure I had made an appointment to see the dietician ( which i haven't). I asked him about anymore scans and he said none unless they feel there is a problem, if they think bubs is too small or too big or if there is any bleeding. I then asked him how they knew if bubs was breeched or not and he said they can usually tell by feeling where the head is and by where the heartbeat is. So I guess I won't see bubs until she arrives. Yay for 29 weeks tomorrow! C'mon time move faster!

:wave::wave: hi all,
I have been a bit quiet (again) but for good reasons ...as nothing really happening.
Saw my OB on Tuesday and they are going to do an internal at 37 weeks and see if i have started to dialate...give me a week more if i have not and check again. My acu guy is going to be starting his magic tomorrow so hopefully things favourable by then.
I have been pretty busy juggling the school run, the medical appointments, being exhausted, housework, doctors appointments...i really need to find some more sleep lol
Mum comes back in 2 weeks (13th) so she will be here and able to help with Elliott so that makes me feel much safer.
Elliott is doing well again (another bullying issue and some recognition issues with the teacher which she acknowledged and has changed the way she works with him a little to huge successes) and things are settling down to a happy medium. He has 5 birthday parties to go to in the next 3 weeks...right when i am due lmao.
I am raring to go now....i wanna meet my lil girl!!!

Hi Everyone,
Glad to see that everyone is doing well..
Smiley - you have done so well. you should be really proud of yourself.
Peanut - sitting in a car for 45 minutes does seem a little crazy, but who knows how we will behave until we are in that situation... does motherhood = craziness??? maybe sometimes. I don't know how I'll cope, have to wait and see.
Zac - too funny re sugar.. I swear I have been addicted to it.. not normally a sweets eater but my goodness, can't keep away from the stuff! don't know how I have avoided GD. actually, might go grab some choccy now.... :o sorry GD ladies
Doughnut - my DP first felt our baby move when I was 20 weeks pregnant. Her comment was "Is that all? I was expecting more..." I got a little upset too to be honest as I thought, wow, our baby is already not meeting your expectations.. but really, I suppose when you haven't experienced it before, you really don't know how you will react.. I wouldn't read too much into it.
Hi to everyone else..
Not much to report, had our 32 week checkup this week and everything is fine, just a little swelling, which is annoying but certainly could be worse.
Hope you all have a great weekend and happy fathers day to all those daddies out there!
:flowerz:
Smiley - so so pleased that you are finally getting a good run! What a rollercoaster you have been on for the past 7-8 months! Not long now until you meet your little cherub. Glad to hear you sorted out E's school as well!
Sydney - hello to you! Sounds like you are plodding along nicely! Not long for you now either! Do you find the swelling comes and goes?
Peanut and Dragon - Woo Hoo for 29 weeks...your bubs will be here before you know it too! I wonder if they will be born on the same day?? LOL
Zac - nice healthy bub in there! Hope the next few weeks at work goes quickly for you!
Muse - I am sure you are just exhausted with the two bubbas growing in there......it is great that your work is understanding. Bad news that DH might not be home next week - I am sure a big hug would make you feel much better. I guess the upside is DH is earning a few more $$ which will make life easier at the other end of this journey when your bubs are hear. Here's a :hugs: just for you!!!
Hello Herewego, Jai, Ekmum, Emma, Doughnut, Simon and everyone I have missed!
We went to our 'refresher' antenatal class last night. It was great. There was only us and two other couples - so it was very informal. We went through all the 'ins and outs' of the hospital stay and I am pleased to say it seems such a relaxed atmosphere. Didnt go into pain relief and stuff because we covered all of that last time - but she talked alot about our other children and gave us some really helpful ideas to make it a great experience for them. We had a look around before we left and they let us go into the nursery.....awwwwwww - good job I am already pregnant....major cluckyness!!! It bought terars to my eyes to see the little ones....and know we will be holding ours in less than 6 weeks!!
Had my ob appointment on Wednesday - no improvement in my hernia, so more and more likely to be a c-section, especially with my other 'issues'. He also threw a curve ball and asked me if it was possible, would I consider having the hernia repaired at the same time as the c-section. My initial response was yes.....but not sure if I can remain awake for the hernia repair.....dont want to miss my bubs first few hours. Anyway he needs to speak to the surgeon who would do the repair to see if it is possible. I am thinking I might ask if it can be done a few days after the birth - so I am still in hospital, but will be 'there' for the first few days. Ahhh - so many decision to make!

Jai – hope the girl’s holiday in Broome was good
Herewego – That post-war style of parenting sounds really awful! I found some instructions on the web on how to make a ‘hug-a-bub’ style sling so going to make a couple of those so I can carry bubs around easily while I get on with housework etc – I think that’s a big part of attachment parenting?
Zacaudrey and PT – wow, must have been weird realising you’re in the same antenatal class! I just found out a work friend had the same OB as I do now. Yeah, I was surprised and pleased that DH bought a book as I couldn’t get him interested in much of my pregnancy info material, also very surprised he watched a birth video!
Musebaby- that is such terrible news that DH might not be coming home afterall – the money is always nice but it must be hard not getting regular cuddles.
Dragongirl – hope the GD is going ok and able to be managed with diet.
Smileygirl –how exciting that you are so close to the birth after all you’ve been through
Sydney – I think the thing that shocked me about DH’s reaction was earlier on he was similar to your DP, ie thought feeling the early baby movement was a bit disappointing, so I thought the big movements was what he was waiting for! Anyway, its all ok now and he’s also going to come along to more activities now like some of the ob appointments and checking out some childcare centres etc. PS is the ensuite finally finished??
May – wow 6 weeks to go, would be good if they can repair the hernia with just an epidural, you must be really hanging out to get it fixed.
AFM, the week from hell is finally over! Next week will also be very busy, but my major urgent deadline is taken care of.... now I just have about 5 semi-urgent items to get finished!

Muse- must be hard having DH away for so long. I would absolutely hate it. DH was away for three weeks a few months ago and I was an emotional mess. He's never leaving my sight ever again :) when you say 2 months and abit it does seem close and usually it flies but time has been slow for me cos I'm so anxious fit November to be here already.
Sydney- yay for 32 weeks, and you can eat the choccy for me :( trying to be careful now. Gotta do the best for bubs. Glad to hear things are going pretty good for you.
May- not long till you meet bubs. That hernia sounds like a nightmare. Hope it gets sorted and I know what you mean about not wanting to miss bubs first moments in the world. Uhmmm wouldn't it be funny if peanut & I did both have our bubs on the right DD. What would the chances of that be?
Doughnut- I have been trying to manage the GD by eating better. I wasn't careful enough before. Have cut out alot of things. Levels have been pretty good so hopefully won't need injections. Such a pain but l for a good cause.
AFM- plodding along, loving the movements. I have a question though. With your milk does that happen when bubs arrive? Or do your (.)(.) leak before? I have no sign of it yet so just wondering. And does anyone else get annoyed when people touch their tummy? I only feel comfortable when DH touches it but absolutely hate it when anyone else does.
Hello to everyone else, weekend again !
dragongal - good to hear you are doing well, as for milk- I think some people get some leakage while others don't have any until the birth.
Doughnut - oh it sounds like work is keeping you busy, glad you survived the week from hell!
May - the hernia sounds awful - I'm sure you will work out the best thing to do. I cant believe you only have 6 weeks to go!!
Sydneygirls - you haven't got long either! Glad to hear all is well with you too.
Muse - hope hubby comes home soon for you - I know I would miss my DH if he was away for work. Keep thinking on the positive side though. Congrats on getting to 25 weeks. I'm glad Im not the only one feeling tired - but then I'm not having twins - it must be doubly tiring growing two bubs:):)
Smiley - wow you have done so well, not long now!!!! Glad to hear things are going well for you after all you have been through.
Jai - hope you have a great time in Broome, it is one of my favourite places. They have been having great weather lately too, so lap up the sunshine!
Zacaudrey- It's funny how things happen - ending up being in the same class as PT!
It was interesting to see what your ob said about sugar for your bubs growth I haven't heard that before. A couple of friends were told they were having 9pound babies and they ended up being quite a bit less than that.
Hello to Peanut, Herewego, Simon and anyone else I missed!
AFM - nothing really to report. Bub has been quite active which is really good! Looking forward to our next appointment which is MOnday week, so I can see bub on the ultrasound. I'm guessing I will be sent to have the GD test after that too, which I am not looking forward too.
Enjoy the weekend everyone!

A quick question for you all - is it normal for the baby to have a few quiet days where they don't move much? Last week he was so active with lots of really big kicks every day for most of the day. So I've come to expect this as normal. Then yesterday, barely anything and today also hardly anything.... when should I get worried that something is wrong?
smileygirl
05-09-2010, 10:56
doughnut - my bubby has active days and quiet days...so i think is normal. If you are worried, call your hospy though as they can have you in for monitoring. If i am worried i have not felt her for a while, i have something really cold to eat or drink and it always makes her move lol
dragon - i have not had any leakage and i didn't with Elliott either, and my milk came in and i b/f him just fine. Once you have had bubs there are things you can do to help your supply...but right now, all you resources are growing bub so don't worry about lack of leakage.
May - hugs on the hernia, one of my other gf's has one too and it is causing her a bit of discomfort! It would be hard to make the choice on whether to go under a general and get it done in one go...i would not think 2 operations in a few days would be a good idea though. Perhaps, if they want to do that...make sure bub is given straight to DH after birth and that NO ONE ELSE gets to hold/see them until after you have had a few hours with them and got that proper mummy/bubby bonding time. huge hugs
EK - hope the GD test goes ok for you
Sydney - glad things are smooth sailing for you guys now :-)
muse - hugs, i would hate for DH to be away...i think you are doing amazingly well!! Can you get away to see each other for even a night while he is away?
sydney and doughnut - dh loved movements...however a few weeks ago he felt her really having a huge wiggle and he was like "OMG, it really feels like there is something in there" and was a lil bit surprised!! So as much as he did not seem underwhelmed at the beginning, i think perhaps he was lol
pls - glad you are lurking along with us lol
:wave: to every one else...hope you are all having wonderful daddies days.
AFM - DH has been spoilt this morning, a heap of presents that Elliott chose and brekky in bed, going out to meet some friends at bowling (they will bowl and i will watch lol).
We have another busy week lined up (sigh)...last week at school for E this week, i have hospital tuesday, osteo Thursday and Acu on Friday....then Karate grading for E on saturday...then straight to a birthday party and another party on Sunday....EEEEKKKKK. Thankfully, mum comes back Monday morning lol...then...possible start of induction on Tuesday (stretch and sweep if I have started to dialate...which is like 9 DAYS away!!! I am so excited now!

We just had a terrible night of really wild winds. I think bubs heard it too cos she was moving like crazy all night. Pretty scary, blackout all night just got electricity back on, fallen trees, roofs and signs all over the roads.
Doughnut- how many weeks are you? (sorry on phone do can't see) apparently you can count kicks, but bubs can have quiet days but of course if you're worried ask your doc or midwife.
Smiley- getting close, so excited for you, you sound like you've got a busy few weeks ahead so it will fly.
EK- hope your GD test goes ok it's a pain to have it, can't eat what you want when you want. Glad to hear bubby is active.
Hello to everyone else

Doughnut - at my pregnancy and birthing class yesterday the midwife said if you haven't felt much movement then have a sugar hit like a can of coke and if there's still no movement within 30 minutes then give them a call. I know that when I've had a 'quiet' day and I have a sugar hit it really works!
Will be back later for more personal

Hi everyone:flowerz:
Muse - must be really hard for you without DH, esp now that you are understandably getting tired. I hope he's back home soon and that you can finish up work before too long.
Sydney - yeah I def think motherhood = crazy. It's just which kind of crazy you pick I guess. I'll be the baby wearing nutter whose kid needs a bit of structure, probably:laughing:. You are getting so close now!
May - that would be very funny if Dragon and I delivered on the same day! Hope you've been able to resolve your Hernia decision, it's a tricky one so good luck trying to think it through.
Doughnut - baby wearing is a big part of Attachment Parenting for sure. The philosophy is that you just get on with what you need to do and bubs will sleep when he/she wants or just be happy to be with you. We'll see how it works in practice! I'm impressed you're making your own slings, I just bought the Ergo.
Dragon - I haven't had too many random tummy touches thank goodness, don't think I'd like it either. The one that was a little weird for me was my Dad touching, sweet I guess but I felt a bit weird too.
EK - glad everything's going well with you.
Smiley - wow, possible start of induction!!! That is soooo exciting. Hope you get through your busy week okay, don't push yourself too hard, okay?
AFM - at home sick today. Bit annoyed as a colleague came in sick last Tues and I was stuck in a meeting with her in a small room at which she coughed and spluttered the whole time and after which she went home sick. Come Friday, I'm sick too. Ugh, spoiled my weekend and am v grumpy about it. Anyway, we did the 4D scan yesterday, was sooo much fun. Great to see bub but he is already getting pretty squashed in there. Had an arm over his face the whole time and a leg somehow hooked through that. Not sure how he's going to last another 10.5 weeks in there! BTW, does anyone know when to expect bubs to go head down?
dragongal77
06-09-2010, 15:16
Peanut- was waiting for your post re 4D scan, did you get some good pics? I feel like there's not much room in there now either. Bummer about being sick hope you get better soon, I've been able to avoid catching anything so far. I think they check if bubs has turned at about 32 weeks. Are you going to post some pics for us?
herewego
06-09-2010, 16:08
Peanut - my ob was saying that the baby will continue to move until around 37 weeks, but he has seen one turn at 40 weeks. That's a pain that you picked up your collegue's bugs. I hope you're having a relaxing day at home.
Smileygirl - your school holidays must fall a bit earlier than ours. We've still got 3 weeks left (which means I only have 3 weeks left!!). Oooh how excited that your induction is so close :yelclap:
Doughnut - have you felt a bit more movement today?
EKMum - don't worry too much about the GD test. It didn't taste too bad. Remember to take a book though as you will be sitting there for an hour.
Dragongal - which state are you in? There seems to have been a bit of wild weather over east. We're basking in the sunshine at the moment :sunshine: I don't know if it is really warm or if it's just my pregnancy warmth
AFM - we had our pregnancy and birthday workshop on Saturday and it was pretty good actually. Even DH said it wasn't as bad as he expected. The boys all had to go off into 1 room and make a list of things they would say hello and good-bye to. The good-bye list had things like 'hangover time' - not the hangovers, just the time they could take to indulge in them! After that I dropped DH at a bucks night so he got to indulge in a long hangover recovery time on Sunday  Enjoy it while it lasts buddy! I just booked my pre-admission appointment. I didn't realise until Friday night that I should have booked it a while ago :o Oh well, I got stuck with an 8am appointment during my 35th week (it's meant to be in my 34th week). I've booked in to go the breast feeding clinic the following week.
DH and I are off to see 'Ghostwriter' tonight. I chucked a bit of a sad because we never get to do anything together when he's home from work, so he suggested a movie. He also assembled the cot for me, so the nursery is all finished now :smiliedance: I've just got to order some wall stickers on ebay and then it's truly done. I washed my baby clothes on the weekend - too cute! Now I need to get some little baby coat hangers.

May – Not sure that the swelling ever goes away completely, but it is bigger sometimes than others. It doesn’t seem to matter what I do. I can get out of bed first thing in the morning and find that they are already swollen.. It kind of makes sense to do the hernia and the caeser at the same time I suppose (saves 2 procedures!) but understand what you are saying about not wanting to miss out on the first part of your little ones life.. but when is a good time to do it?? Have they indicated how much longer it will take for them to do if they do it all at once.. maybe you need some more information before you can decide.
Doughnut – well the ensuite is not quite finished. We are using it though.. there is a strip of grouting to be done above the door (and that is all). It has been like that for about 8 weeks. I’ve given up on asking for them to do it. I will probably end up doing it myself when I finish work. It is seriously a 5 minute job.
Dragon – I haven’t found that random people want to touch my tummy (only family like MIL and SIL etc, which I am fine with). Its a bit of an odd thing to do I think.
EK – how’d your ob appointment go today? Did you get to see your little one?
Herewego – thats a great tip about the movement. I’ll have to remember that one! Great to see that you have everything ready to go now.. how exciting!

Hey everyone,
I've been totally MIA. Haven't had a chance to read what's been happening for you all. Hope you are all doing really well.
My mum has been pretty bad. Has a different diagnosis now - alzheimers! Just great.
So lots needs organising for her. I'm feeling pretty stretched emotionally at the moment and physically. Feels like my tummy can't expand any further w/out bursting.

May thanks so much for your hug! :D Im feeling a lot better now! DH is coming tonight! Yaay How are you finding antenatal classes? Are they informative?? Mine don’t start until oct which means the last class will be in early nov, which is when I’ll prob be due! So not happy bout that. They know Im having twins. Going to ask my ob to see if I can start the classes earlier!
Hey about your hernia, if I was you, I would prob want to get it fixed at the same time. Least you wont have to heal twice!! But ultimately its your decision!! I know how you feel about wanting to be with bub right after birth! That would be soo hard!! :( As Sydneygirls said, do you know how long it will take?
Doughnut glad your week from hell is finally over! My hyper boy does have days when he is really quiet. Like everyone else said, have some sugar that will do the trick! White choc seems to do it for me! They both go crazy!! But if your concerned, go see your doc!
Dragongal I’m a little bit use to DH going away now. But doesn’t help when there is drama! Yea, I feel a little weird when people other than DH touch my belly! As for the (.)(.) I have heard your milk can come in beforehand! Im curious to see what is going to happen to me. I guess everyone is different!
Sounds like you have had some hairy weather! Its funny how the bubs react to things!
EKMum its funny the tiredness seems to come and go. I get spurts of energy and then none! Lol. Ive got my GD test next week also – Thursday. Good luck for yours! :fingerscrossed:
Smileygirl sometimes when DH is away I can go and visit. But depends on where he is. This place is 1 hour and 40 min plane trip, then 2 hour drive! Next place he goes to, I think is only a 2 hour drive! Much better! But the place after that is like a 10 hour drive!! And will be close to when I give birth! Arrghhh!
OMG you sound soooo busy! And your sooo close now! Yaay!! Don’t forget to schedule in some rest and don’t over do it!!
Peanut hope your feeling better! I hate when people come into work sick!! Yuck! Cool, 4D scan sounds great!! I would love to get one done. Last scan they didn’t give me any pics to keep and prob wont get any from the others either. Will have to talk to DH about getting one done! These 2 are prob the only babies we will have!
Herewego it must feel great to have the nursery finished! Im hoping DH can move some stuff for me when he gets home, so I can finally get ours finished!
Lulu big hugs for you! :hugs: So sorry that you have to deal with that right now, or even at all! How much longer have you got to go??
Hello to sydneygirls and everyone else!!!

AFM Saw my gp yesterday as I kicked my little toe 2 weeks ago and its still sore!! And wanted to ask her about my reflux/ indigestion /heartburn – its been getting soooo bad!!
Anyway.. turns out looks like I have fractured my little toe! :o Cant confirm with xray for obvious reason, but looks like I’ll lose my toe nail for a while – yuck! Its all blue and the toe has been swollen for 2 weeks! I didn’t do anything about it initially as it all happened around the same time as the dog. I joked with the doc saying, I kicked it because I can no longer see my feet!
She also gave me some tablets for my reflux etc! Yaaaay!!! I use to take tablets for that before being UTD as I have had that problem for a while, but had to stop as those tablets were bad for pregnancy. So just been having gaviscon. Don’t know why she didn’t give me those tablets when she took me off the other ones?? I had a sharps container left over from ivf, I was going to give to her. She said keep it just in case I get GD. I said don’t jinx me! She said the chances are high that I will prob get it!! Then all last night I was sooo thirsty! I must be have been paranoid! Haha!
And yaaay, as I mention earlier DH is coming home tonight!! Yaaaaay! Got a week to spend together before he goes again. Got a tons of jobs for him to do before he leaves! Muahahhaa. and finally get a cuddle!
Sorry for the loooong posts!! I should check in more often!!! :p
musebaby - glad to hear that DH is coming home for a week. am sure you will enjoy your time together.
EKMum - good luck with your GD test. I have mine next week. It's a nice feeling when bub is active.
herewego - sounds like you are getting that nursery all sorted. we haven't done anything in ours for a few weeks. It still has my bookcase with about half my books in it to sort out.
Peanut - hope you get better soon. we have had a few people come to work sick too, but luckily I've managed to avoid the bugs so far.
lulu - sorry to hear about your mum.
dragon - hope the weather is better where you are now.
sydney - sounds like you might be doing the job yourself when you go on mat leave.
smiley - sounds like you have a busy time coming up, hope you manage to find time for rest too.
May - any more thoughts on what you're going to do? sounds like there are pros and cons for each way.
doughnut - hope this week is quieter for you.
hello to everyone else.
AFM - only 2 more sleeps till Broome. Very excited and looking forward to warm weather, sunshine and relaxing.
Got bookclub at my house tonight so that will be nice. Am supposed to choose the book for next time, but no idea what I'm going to choose yet.
Sydney, Muse, Smiley and Jai - your right...I dont really know enough yet to make an informed decision. My ob said it is definately not his area of expertise....so he is going to talk to the surgeon and let me know what the surgeon recommends. The more I think about it the more I hope they can do while I am still in hospital - but not necesarily on the 'birth' day....maybe a 2 or 3 days later. Apparently in a non-pregnant person you would only stay over night after the hernia op (some web sites say 'day surgery'). So I wouldn't think it will add to my hospital stay too much and I would only be out for the count for a few hours. Anyway - it may not even be possible.....they may need to let the uterus contract completely before attempting the surgery on the hernia....will find out next week hopefully.
Muse - yay for DH coming home tonight!! I hope he lots of much need cuddles for you! I would definatley see if you can get in to an early antenatal class....your bubs could be here before you get your license . Our class was just a one-of as it was a refresher course - but the full course we did last time was really informative. I dont think they tell you much that you can't read in a book - but it is really good to hear what other peoples thoughts/fears etc are. It is good to have a sqizzy around the hospital too. OOOcccchhhh - broken toe! I can sympathise....I broke my littel toe on Xmas eve a few years ago and it was very painful - it was weeks before I could wear anything but thongs! I thought DD had jammed her fingers in the back door and jumped over the dog to get to her and caught my toe on the corner of the wall - it hurt at the time, but it wasnt until I had consoled DD (who was fine by the way) that I looked down and saw that my toe was at a right angle!!! There is nothing they can do anyway....my doc just put it back in place and strapped it to the next toe. Good excuse for you to rest more and put your feet up!
Doughnut - my bub has very active days and very quiet days (that freak me out). I have a doppler, so when ever I am worried I have a bit of a listen with that. But it is completely normal for them to have quiet days....not good for our nerves though.
Jai - have a great time in Broome....I am very envious! It looks like we are going to have rain for the next few days too - so you will be sunning it up while we dodge the rain!
Sydney - the swelling must be a pain! But (probably TMI) you will pee like a racehorse after you give birth and all that fluid will be gone!! Hopefully it soesnt get to much worse over the next few weeks. How much longer until you finish work?
AFM - well my last week at work this week (again ). Definatley finishing on Friday and there is no way I am coming back this time! It's DD's birthday next week so will be getting ready for the party etc next week!
:flowerz: to everyone else!!

Hi everyone:sunshine:
Muse - :yelclap:for DH coming home tonight. You need a super special squeeze.
Dragon - I've uploaded a few of the 3d pics. Thanks for mentioning about how exciting Christmas is going to be for us all - it reminded me of last year. Just before Christmas I was feeling pretty down after failed IVF and my SIL and BF both due in Jan, plus having to move out of our house for 9months. I'd visualise this Christmas Eve with DH and I on the sofa in our renovated house, Christmas tree in the corner and Carols by Candlelight on the tv, and with bubs between us. It was my happy place and I'm glad you reminded me of that - I've been using it again to get thru the last stages and remind myself how blessed we are as it seemed like an impossible dream at the time.
Herewego - your class sounds great, I'm looking forward to it. How lovely to have your nursery nearly all done, even the clothes washed. I'm getting so anxious about getting home to do the same!
Lulu - sorry to hear about your Mum, you have a lot on your plate right now. I hope you're getting some support too.:goodvibes:
Jai - have a fabulous time in Broome!
May - how exciting, just a few days of work left. Congratulations!
Emma - hi and hope you and the girls are going well. Check in when you can...
AFM - at home again today. Still not feeling great at all. I don't want to end up on antibiotics like my colleagues have with this bug. Normally I'd force myself back to work but this time I figured I need to put bubs first.

Lulu – so sorry to hear of your mum’s diagnosis. Do you have siblings that can help out? It’s a tough thing to go through at any time, but must be a completely exhausting physically, emotionally and mentally atm. :hugs:
Dragongirl- I’m 25 wks. No one has touched my belly (other than doc and dh) – I think I would find that a bit weird if they did. I can kind of understand it when there is obvious movement happening, and I think there is a general fascination with babies- but I certainly would feel uncomfortable touching someone else’s tummy, so would be taken aback if it happened to me!
Herewego and Muse– I know what you mean about the sugar hit… so on the w/e I ate heaps of fudge and chocolate to try to get him moving, but all I got was one or two very weak half-hearted little kicks, nothing like what its been like, so freaked me out a bit. But good news, Baby starting doing big kicks again on Monday and today – when I’m at work I’m mainly sitting so maybe it was just the extra movement on the w/e rocked him to sleep.
Peanut – I HATE it when people come in sick to work, I think its so inconsiderate. Also hate being stuck on public transport when someone next to you does a big cough – yech! Hope you aren’t sick for too long. Pity you can’t use your colleague’s sick leave up for you since they gave you the bug!
I have a sore throat today, so hoping I’m not getting a cold.
Sydneygirls – sorry to hear the swelling is still bad. Grouting is pretty easy job, but a bit slack they didn’t come back to finish off. Glad at least you can use the ensuite.
Hi to everyone else I’ve missed.

Peanut- this Christmas is definately going to be the best. When we first started IVF about 2 years ago I thought it would happen straight away. I bought a Christmas stocking ready to fill it up for bubs. I still have it and I feel so blessed when I look at it now and know I get to fill it up this year. The best part is we don't feel left out anymore on special occasions and will have our own little family to celebrate. I think going through ivf has made us appreciate the little things in life. Can you believe it's actually going to happen yet? Some days I still find myself doubting that our dream is becoming a reality. But look how far we have come, soon we'll have a single digit on our tickers :)
muse- yay for DH coming home, what does he do to keep him away do often? Hope your toe is better soon.
Jai- hope you have a great time in Broome.
May- yay for finishing up work. Wish I didn't have to work. Gonna have to work until right up when bubs is due, bummer when you have your own business. But it keeps me busy and hopefully time will go quicker.
Lulu- sorry to hear about your mum. I think now when we are expecting our own we learn to appreciate our mums more.
Doughnut- congrats on 25 weeks and yay that bubs is being active again. I found that at 25 weeks bubs would move randomly but after 28 weeks it's non-stop.
Smiley- that's for the reassurance on leakage, thought I was abit behind and was worried I wouldn't have milk for bubs.
Herewego- I live on the NSW south coast. The winds were scary but we were lucky not to get any damage. Many lost their roofs, fallen trees and fences. Does there seem to be more natural disasters in recent years?
Sydney- it's my MIL I'm most annoyed about touching my tummy cos you all know I much I love her :) I just flinch everytime she reaches to touch me. But yeah so e strangers have done it too, pretty weird.
Cazz- how's your GD going? Bummer it, we are supposed to be allowed to indulge during our pregnancy but instead we are having to watch everything we eat such a pain. Love the 3d pics you posted on FB.
Emma- you've been quiet hope eveything is going well with Bridget & taylah.
Hello to everyone else. Why is it that when we are anticipating something the time seems to go slower?
doughnut - love your new pic. all of DH's family were touching my belly on Fathers Day. I don't really like it that much, but I just grin and bear it. The thing I hate the most is when my MIL refers to the baby as 'my baby', I actually thought it was mine and DH's.
peanut, dragon - I agree about Christmas being the best this year. I found out on Christmas Eve last year that our first ivf cycle hadn't worked. This year will be so different. Am already starting to wonder how we will see both families (who do not live that near each other) in the one day and deal with a 2/3 week old baby.
May - enjoy your last week of work.
hello to eveyone else. Off to the :sunshine:tomorrow.

Just moving this up the thread because it was buried deep on page 10!
Wow...quiet in here today!
Enjoy Broome Jai...hope you have a great time.
Peanut - hope you are feeling a bit better today!
Muse - Hope DH gave you lots of cuddles!
Lulu - so sorry to hear about your mums diagnosis. It is certainly going to be a hard road for you all. I hope you and your mum have lots of support around you. Remember to look after yourself too!!
Doughnut - it is weird that people seem to think it is okay to touch your tummy when your pregnant....I am sure they would never touch an un-pregnant belly! I have only had a few this time around, but when I was preg with DD I used to get people at work touching my belly all the time....especially in the lift?? What's with that??
Hello to everyone else!
I am 35 weeks today....woooohoooo......so excited about what is to come for all of us!
May - WOW! you only have five weeks to go! I bet you are getting excited now!
Jai - enjoy the sunshine - I'm very jealous! :)
Dragongirl - your post about Christmas was so touching and I think we can all relate to it. I know I was convinced IVF would happen for us straight away and was very disappointed each time we got another BFN. THis Christmas is going to be very special for all of us I think!
Peanut - I also hate when people spread their sicknesses! Good on you for taking time out to recover!
As a teacher I hate it when parents bring their sick children to school becuase they can't be bothered looking after them at home - I heard a classic today a Mum said to my colleague, they are still sick but they annoyed me yesterday so I told them they have to go to school today! Great - I'm sure the other Mum's will be happy when her child spreads the sickness around
Glad to hear your 4D scan went well!
Herewego - glad to hear your parenting and birth class went well. I can't remember - are you at SJOG subi? We have our classes on Wednesday nights starting in 3 weeks.'
When are you supposed to book the pre-admission appointment?
How exciting getting some of your baby clothes ready! Only 2 more weeks of work for you - Wooohoo!
Sydneygirls - hope your swelling is not causing you too much trouble. You haven't got long to go now either!
Lulu - so sorry to hear about your mum. Sending you lots of :hugs:. Thinking of you. Hope you can put some things in place to make things a little easier for your mum and you.
Muse - Oh No, a broken toe - hope it heals quickly for you! Seems funny that the dr didn't give you the alternative med for reflux before, but glad you have something to give you some relief. Hope you don't get GD - why did she say you have a high chance of getting it?
Doughnut - good to hear bub is more active for you again. I find I have days when my bub is not very active and others when he is really active. But I know I worry if I haven't felt him for a while.
Smiley - not long for you now!!
Hello to everyone else! It's been quiet in here today - hope everyone is doing ok. Hooray for Friday and the weekend!
We are going to start having some bub announcements soon! Very exciting.
AFM - I haven't had my GD test yet - I think the Ob will get me to have it after my next appointment - is that about right??? My next appointment is this monday (not Monday just gone, sorry for confusing some of you!).
Found out today that our school's swimming lessons will be in week 7 and 8 next term which is my last two weeks of work. So I am not looking forward to taking 20 five year olds to swimming lessons while I am no doubt looking and feeling like a whale!
herewego

EKMum - yes, I'm at SJOG Subi. We did the 1 day class because DH works FIFO so we couldn't have attended 3 consecutive Wednesday nights. You're meant to have your pre-admission appointment at 34 weeks, but they say to ring about 6 weeks beforehand. I rang on Monday and could only get an appointment for 35 weeks, and I had the option of a Wednesday evening at 6pm or a Thursday morning at 8am!
Do you have to get in the pool with the kids when they do swimming lessons?
I had my GD test done at 26 so I'd say your ob will give you the form for it at your next appointment.
May - happy 35 weeks  Not long at all now....
Jai - I hope you're enjoying the Broome sunshine :sunshine: I was saying to DH a while ago that Broome would be a great holiday spot to take children. He refuses to go to Bali or Thailand, so I figure Broome is probably a good alternative.
Lulu - I'm so sorry to hear about your Mum. Is it very advanced?
Muse - I bet you enjoyed seeing DH again, and I'm sure he was glad to get home.
Dragongal - I have found the past couple of Christmases particularly hard, so this one is going to be great! I bought some coloured singlets and there was a red and a green one in the pack so I told DH that I already had wingnut's outfit sorted :p
AFM - I ordered some wall stickers on ebay the other night so hopefully they'll arrive soon. I just got Winnie the pooh ones are they are fairly non-gender specific.
This past week has really taken it out of me  I feel like I'm in zombie land. I had one of those days today where I felt I could have easily thrown something at someone if they pushed me, and unfortunately it happened to be the same day as I teach one of my most annoying students. Fortunately he didn't quite push me over the edge
Has anyone else noticed that their pelvic floor muscles aren't quite what they used to be? I try to do my exercises when I remember, but that isn't all that often. I'm entering dangerous territory every time I cough or sneeze and am hoping this isn't a permanent thing
Anyway, this little duck is knackered so it's off to bed for me.
herewego
10-09-2010, 15:57
We certainly are very quiet in here lately!
I saw my ob this morning and told him about some pressure I'm feeling down low on my pelvis. He said they are braxton hicks contractions. I was expecting them to feel a bit different. I also asked if he could 'guesstimate' whether the baby was going to be big or average sized. He had a feel around and said it feels like it's average size, but then he did the ultrasound and said that it actually looks like it could be on the large size. He did say there is a 15% margin of error with the u/s machines so he tends to trust his physical exam more. I guess we'll wait and see!
My dad's coming round this afternoon to walk the dogs with me. DH wants me to take the pram with me so that the dogs get used to walking alongside it, but I think I'll feel like an idiot if I do that  I think I'll just wait until he gets home and he can come with me!

Happy Friyaaaaay :flowerz: everyone!!!!!!
Doughnut - I hope your sore throat didn't develop into anything nasty. My colleague came into work for a grand total of two hours this week, and said to me, oh are you sick too:yes:. I hate the public transport sickies too, recently I was sitting next to a girl chatting on her mobile about how she'd been given antibiotics for a contagious rash! And then there's the hairdressers apprentice telling me she's got gastro while leaning over me to wash my hair...
Dragon - that's so awesome you get to use your stocking this year. No I don't really believe it yet either. I won't until I'm holding our baby. Yay for entering the 30's - we're getting there!
Jai - wow xmas eve was a sucky time to find out that news. This one is going to more than make up for it tho. Have fun warming your bump:D
May - thanks and woohoo, 35 weeks is AMAZING. So close. You are one of our first up ladies.
EK - that must be annoying as a teacher, some parents are so thoughtless. I did the GC at 26 weeks which I think is pretty typical.
Herewego - your DH has a good idea about the pram but hmmm I'd be a little embarrassed too, esp if my neighbours popped out to say hello!
AFM - still struggling with this bug, it's a nasty one so TGIF. Going to take it very easy tomorrow resting up for a 40th at night, on Sunday we have a belated Father's Day lunch as my parents have just returned from Europe so it will be nice to catch up with everyone. 2 weeks of work to go!!!
Herewego - THanks for the info - I still have a couple of weeks before I will have to book in then. THe midwife will probably remind me at my appointment on Monday along with the GD test.
Glad you survived your day yesterday! I had a bad day yesterday too, I was so grumpy, luckily it was my DOTT day so I didn't have to deal with the kids. As for swimming lessons, no I don't have to get in the pool, but because they are only five I will have to help them getting changed etc as well as getting on and off the bus.
I have had some minor issues with pelvic floor muscles - especially when I sneeze. I'm sure it will get worse from me. They say it is worse after the birth because the muscles have to stretch etc, so thats when it is most important to do the exercises. I'm hoping that it won't be a permanent thing!:D
Peanut - hope you start to get better over the weekend. It sounds like you have some nice things planned so enjoy! It must be nice only having 2 weeks left at work!

:wave::wave::wave: everyone :-)
no energy for personals but hugs to all.
In the middle of my busy week and feeling very very run down.
Saw my acu guy today and he is going to make me some herbs to start taking on monday so my energy should come up by tuesday....just in time for my OB and start of induction.
Crazy weekend ahead....DH going to be doing as much as possible though as i need a break!
Hope all are travelling well along the preggy ride...

Peanut – so far have managed to fight off the virus, but DH definitely has something so am hoping I manage to stay healthy. Hope you get enough rest to recover fully.
Jai – your MIL sounds like a nightmare. Mine is also a bit like that – fortunately I haven’t had to deal with her much lately, and haven’t had the belly groping from the in-laws yet.
May – I’m with you, 99.99999% of people wouldn’t dare touch a non-pregnant person’s belly so why do they feel ok about touching without an invite just cause you’re pregnant!
Smileygirl – good luck with the induction – so excited for you.
All this talk of last weeks at work has prompted me to tally up all my work tasks I have to get completed before going on leave..... YIKES! Not sure if I will get it all done or not. Still heaps to do around the house too.
I also can’t believe we will have a baby for Christmas – at the beginning of the year this was my goal, but after 2 more failed clomid/AIH cycles I didn’t think it was going to happen. I’m still pinching myself that we got a BFP with our first IVF cycle. Depending on actual arrival date I could still be in hospital (or even not yet given birth!) on Christmas day, so I suspect next Christmas will be the real cracker when we have a 1 year old!

OMG everyone is getting so close now...it is great. I really havent had a chance to catch up with how everyone is doing but I have been thinking of you guys. Have some holidays in 2 weeks so look out...i will get reading and posting!
Thanks for all your kind words and hugs...it has been a nitemare. The alzheimers has been very suttle for at least a year now that I look back. I have been concerned and having tests done since I was 4 weeks pregnant. I remember I got the call from ther fertility clinic to say congratulations at my mum's first appointment with the geriatrician.
Anyway I am now 25 weeks and the speed at which my mum has deteriorated is hideous. There are great services around to assist and put as much in place to keep her in her own home for as long as possible. I am needing to organise lots of this for her though and Im knackered.
On the baby front it is wonderful. My little girl is twirling and twisting and kicking away. I can't wait to meet her.
Hope you are all keeping well. Hopefully get to read all your news very soon! How many babies have we got out there now??
herewego
13-09-2010, 19:53
hellloooo....... Is everyone off giving birth or something??
Lulu - I'm sorry to hear your Mum is deteriorating so quickly. It must be such a hard thing for you to watch.
Smileygirl - so are you starting your induction tomorrow??? I hope your weekend wasn't too crazy.
Peanut - we're on the homeward stretch now! I woke up this morning and thought 'oh no, it's Monday' and then I realised I only have 1 more Monday morning after today :smiliedance:
AFM - not much going on here. I bought a gorgeous little lamp for the nursery on the weekend but I'm worried it's too girly (which will not be a problem if we have a girl!). It's got lots of green and bits of pink in it. We'll just have to 'man' up the room a bit more if we end up with a boy  Now I just need to buy a nice little table to sit it on..... oh it never ends....

lol herewego...i wish i was off giving birth
Tomorrow they are going to do an internal and hopefully, if i am at all dialated do a stretch and sweep (not fun...but last time it was all it took to get me into labour).
I have no idea what next if i am not at all dialated....am guessing they will book me in to be admitted and start a full induction.
I have a huge feeling bubs will be here on Sunday...not sure why....but that is my gut feel....hope i am right lol
herewego - it sounds like your nursery is coming along! Ours has not been started lol....bubs will be in our room for 4-6 months so i am going to use that time to sort a nursery!
lulu - hugs for your mum hun. Is there anything they can do to slow the progression? Congrat's on 25 weeks!
doughnut - yes, it will be an amazing christmas...this year will be special....but next year when our babies can rip paper off and laugh and smile....OMG it will be awesome! I hope you are staying awesome.
EK - the pelvic floor muscles do need to be taken care of lol After Elliott i had to work hard to get things back in order....but it was a temporary thing so make sure you are doing lots of clench and hold now and after!
Peanut - hope you shook that bug hun
AFM (well in addition to my initial :ecomcity:)
I picked mum up from the station this morning and she is now tucked up in bed recovering from her trip. It is such a relief to have her here...i can now totally relax and know that my lil man will be in the best of hands while i have his lil sister.
My lil one been very quiet today and i got the panics and had to bring out the doppler ...she is soooo low now, righ down inside my hips...now wonder i waddle so badly lol
so...keep your fingers crossed for me and send me lots of dialation vibes...i am hoping for 2 cm tomorrow...omg...i want to cuddle my bub!

Smiley- OMG getting soooo close now, I'm so excited for you. Goodluck tomorrow and sending lots of dialation vibes. Bubs is going to be in our room for tge first few months too, haven't really set up anything, DH reckons he's going to do it all when I'm in hospital having bubs :)
herewego- I've been having pelvic pain too. A pink & green lamp is ok, didn't you know pink is in for boy now too. My two teenage nephews walk around in hot punk shoes apparently they are in :)
peanut- getting closer yay!
Doughnut- hopefully you won't have to spend Christmas in hospital, I am so excited about Christmas this year.
Lulu- hope your mum is ok. My mum has diabetes and just had to have ALL her teeth taken out and will be without teeth for 3 months, she looks so old and sad. I think as we get older and now we are expecting our own we appreciate our mums more.
Hi to everyone else I've missed it's been so quiet in here lately everyone must be contently enjoying their pregnancies.
AFM- gestational diabetes is ok, glucose levels aren't too bad. Been trying to be good. Went to see doc today and have been prescribed blood pressure tablets as have been abit high lately. When I went to see the dietician for the GD last week she asked me if the doc was still willing to deliver bubs ( at the small local hospital) she got me abit worried with that question and I raised it with him today. He said as my glucose levels are good and bubs measuring normal everything should be ok. They will monitor me and if any sign of anything being wrong he would get rid of me straight away :) geez can't wait to hold bubs in my arms safe and sound, this worrying is making me crazy. Hope everyone else is smooth sailing hugs to all

:goodvibes::goodvibes: heres a couple of dialation vibes! Good luck for today!!!
dragongal hope your blood pressure improves!! :fingerscrossed:

Hi everyone
back from broome. It was lovely. So warm and relaxing.
Smiley. Good Luck today. Hope u are dilated.
Muse. Have fun at your scan
dragon. Glad to hear the gd is under control. I am in the middle of doing my test ATM. Just finished the drink and waiting for the bt.
Herewego. Sounds like u r getting all sorted at home. Hadn't thought about a Xmas outfit. But that is a good idea.
May. Wow 35 weeks. Not long now. I hit 6 months on the wend. Still feels like ages away.
Hello to everone else. Hard to read back on phone.
Broome was lovely. My girlfriends and I did not stop talking the whole weekend. Was very happy as one told us she is 10 weeks pg. Was great to have some sun as perth has been freezing. Got the bump out in my bikini which was nice. It's getting big now.
Got my next on appt on fri so hopefully everything is good and gd test comes back normal.

Good morning :flowerz:
Wow we are getting to the action end of things!
Smiley - I am soooo excited for you to be starting off the process. Sending you all the postive vibes you deserve for a smooth delivery, exactly as you want it to be:goodvibes::goodvibes::goodvibes:.
Herewego - Yikes, I know just one more Monday. Can you believe it?
Muse - the scan will be wonderful, enjoy seeing your bubs. Can't wait to hear how it goes.
Dragon - I know it's hard but it really doesn't sound like you have too much to worry about. Bubs will be here safe and sound before you know it, I'm soooo sure hon.
Lulu - I'm so sorry about your Mum, it must be really hard to deal with that and your pregnancy at the same time. I hope she an be stabilised at least so that you can get a bit of a break to concentrate on baby.
EK - the pelvic floor stuff scares me too but I hate those exercises! I'm wondering if it's too late to start some pre-natal pilates...
Jai - welcome back, sunning the bump in Broome sounds lovely!
AFM - Saw my OB yesterday and all good. GCT results were perfect but the little guy has sucked dry all my iron reserves. I had above average ferratin (stored iron) at the start of the pregnancy and now it's way down at the low end so I need to take some supplements every second day. I hate the side effects of iron. Think I might need to go see my naturopath as I had one in the past that didn't cause the digestive side effects. Oh and the OB told me to get my bag packed now, just in case:eek:. BTW when did everyone's navel pop? Mine is still hanging in there....just.
Smiley - good luck for today....hope there is some action happening down there for you!!! We are going to have a run of bubs very soon!
Jai - Sounds like you had a great time in Broome. When are you planning on finishing at work?
Herewego - Wow....can't believe you finish work soon. Are you counting sleeps?
Peanut - my navel is just about to pop....but I think it is more the hernia pushing it out. It looks really weird at the moment...I get a bit squeamish about belly buttons for some reason  and mine freaks me out!! Yuck about the iron tablets....they can certainly play havok with your digestive system....hopefully your naturopath can help out a little there.
Muse - hope the scan goes well and great that DH gets to be there for this one! Hope your little cherubs are feeling photogenic today!
Dragon - try not to worry about the nurses comments. I am sure your doc will do what ever is best for you. She may have said that because as in theory, GD babies can be a bit bigger than average....but so are alot of non-GD babies. Plus if your GD is uncontrol, and bub is being monitored (for size) then all will be fine! Not long to go now lovie!
Hi to everyone else....we have all been a bit quiet lately....contemplating what is to come maybe!!
AFM - plodding along....nearly hit the 36 week mark! Having trouble sleeping (or should I say 'staying asleep') and hernia pain....but apart from that all good. Heard back from my ob last week and I can't have the hernia operated on until at least 3 months after the birth! But they have assured me that the pain should lessen dramatically when bub is born (not as much pressure pushing it out). So i guess i know where I stand and only have to worry about recovering from the birth for now! Back to ob tomorrow....will be interested to see what he says as I feel like bub has really dropped down in the past week. Seeing him weekly now and we will make a decision next week in regards to the c-section.
smileygirl
14-09-2010, 14:46
well, 37 + 1 and i can't believe it! I am finding things a bit surreal to be honest...like, as much as i hoped for this to be happening, i don't believe that i will actually be holding bubs soon.
So, today ended up a bit lengthy at the hospital, no surprise there.
Saw the OB who, again, was good. Not super keen to induce too soon but wanting to get things going. Still measuring exactly to dates which is awesome so bubs should not be too big.
Did an internal..and i am just over 2 cm dialated, cervix is ripe and ready to go!!! She did a stretch and sweep and is hoping that will help me get going on my own.
We have booked in another appointment for next Tuesday (so 38+1) and if i have not gone then, i will either be admitted straight in for induction or it will be booked for wed/thurs next week (depending upon bed avail).
I had to go up to monitoring for a trace, all good with heart beat etc. Then an ultrasound to check fluid levels, again, all looking good :-)
I see my acupuncture guy on Friday - so he is hoping to push me over the edge and get me going then.
I thought i was in labour last night but sadly it all stopped after a few hours...le sigh. Will be trying some natural triggers over the next few days too :-)
I have a really good feeling about Sunday though, so i think she will be born then lol

Muse- have fun at your 3d/4d scan sounds exciting to be able to see your babies with DH there with you!
Peanut- I'm still feeling pretty anxious but we are getting there. Really can't wait fir the next few weeks to fly. I was just thinking today about my navel too and why it hasn't popped out yet, mine is still way in :)
May- yeah I'm sure as long as bubs is measuring ok all will be fine I'm just in doubt about my decision to go public and have bubs at the local hospital, hope I don't regret it. Yay for 36 weeks and bummer that hernia!
Jai- goodluck with your glucose test hope all is good, GD is more of a pain than anything else with you having to watch everything you eat. Glad to hear your had a great time in Broome
Smiley- woo-hoo for being 2cm dialated, not long to go, sooooo exciting. Glad everything else is going well with bubby.
Ohhh it's all getting exciting Noe, not long till we start welcoming our bubbas into the world. Are we going to do an SMS buddy system like the other threads have done so we can make announcements when our babies are born? It's great to see it's not so quiet on here yay!

Peanut - my belly button hasn't quite popped yet, but it's getting close. I find myself playing with it all the time :-D
smiley - how exciting, that you're on your way.
May - finishing work on 22 October, so 5 1/2 weeks to go, not that I'm counting . Hope your appt went well today and you are closer to working out what sort of birth you will have.
herewego - my belly button is very close, but hasn't popped yet. I hate it when DH tries to play with it.
hello to everyone. where are you all today? 2 days back at work and already I wish it was the weekend.

Good luck smiley. Hope your bub comes out soon.
My mum is on medication to stop it where it is but it only worls for 1:11. Not great odds and half the time she doesn't remember to take it.
Dragon: what's the sms system?
Peanut: yeah, trying to get everything in place quickly. Can't believe how much there is to do.
Afm: just got puffy feet yesterday and today. Anyone had this?

so busy still.... working very long days trying to clear as much of my work 'to do' list before baby arrives! Sore throat is back again... arrgh and not getting much sleep at all . hi gang,
well, still no bubs yet but things feel like they are moving a bit...loosing lots of "plug" type substance...lots of tightenings :-)
I have acupuncture tomorrow morning...so that should make stuff go to the next level too.
My belly button still an inni lol...didn't pop with Elliott either.
We went shopping today and wandered about for about 2 hours..i was hoping to tip myself into labour lol....mum got me a really good baby bag for my birthday, i had a $200 voucher for toys r us from my baby shower so we went there and i got a good breast pump, a super dooper baby play mat, some wipes and a few lil outfits...everything was on sale...it was awesome lol
Emma will know when i have bubs and will let you lot know ASAP.
Still thinking Sunday ... for no particular reason.
:wave::wave::wave: everyone, must go teach mum to make cheesecake lol

Hello Lovelies
Just a quick all about me coz off for dinner :o
Went to Obs today & she's thinking I'll need to be induced two weeks early. Apparently in a small number of cases GD makes bubs smaller not bigger which might be the case with me. Everyone is shocked when I tell them I have less than 6 weeks to go, bump just doesn't seem to be getting much bigger at all. Stunned that now she might be here in less than a MONTH!
Back for personals soon xxx

Smiley- hang in there not long to go :hugs:
cazz- great to hear from you! how are your glucose levels going? not long to go for you either, two weeks early wow! My friend who has GD also said that because of the GD she can't be induced, she is due tomorrow and if she doesn't go into labour tonight she is booked in for a caesarean tomorrow afternoon.

Dragon: what could the puffy feet mean? I'm seeing my ob on tuesday but just wondered what you thought?

Lulu- it could mean nothing as it's pretty normal to get puffy feet during pregnancy but if you had high blood pressure as well it could be a symptom of pre-eclampsia. I have HBP but my doc test my urine everytime I see him and I have no protein in it and no other symptoms so ok for now. Best to bring it up with your obs, better be safe than sorry.

Happy Friday to all :goodvibes::goodvibes::goodvibes:
Wow, pretty quiet in here at the moment. Hopefully it's going to hot up soon with some exciting and wonderful news.
May - I'm a bit squeamish about the belly button too. Hope your OB appointment went well, you are so close now!
Smiley - sounds like things are on track, hope you had a good accupuncture session today. Will be stalking to hear your big announcement.
Herewego - ick, I don't like the navel play idea much. I'm happy for mine to stay tucked away but it's not got long I expect...
Lulu - hope you're feeling more on top of things.
Doughnut - good luck getting through your work and then you can focus totally on the more important thing - your bub.
Cazz - hope you enjoyed your dinner. Wow, two weeks is soooo amazingly close. You must be incredibly excited now.
Dragon - hi there, our countdown is in single figures now!
AFM - one more week of work after today. About to have a farewell afternoon tea as a few colleagues are on hols next week, already had a farewell lunch. I'm in our e-newsletter this week as leaving so keep getting all these calls and have to say, it's only temporary:laughing:. Have started on Fabol to help with my iron levels, anyone else tried that?

Peanut- I know, pretty awesome huh? I think everyones being quiet cos we are just all waiting for the big day to come now. When people ask when I'm due I say 9 weeks, it's sounds sooner than saying November. In a couple more weeks well have a few more babies to our thread although if smiley is right we will have another by this weekend ohhhh so excited it's all happening! Happy 31 weeks DD buddy!
Dragon - I like the idea of your sms buddy system.
Smiley - good luck for this weekend. hope the accupunture works its magic.
peanut - wow, only 1 week left of work, that is fantastic. enjoy your afternoon tea.
Cazz - hope you had a nice dinner. not long to go, better make the most of dinners out.
Doughnut - hope you get through your work ok. It's hard being snowed under, being utd, I find I'm so tired by the end of the day.
hello to everyone else.
AFM - Had my ob appt this morning. it was short and sweet. Heard the heartbeat which was nice and strong. All my tests cam back normal including GD test, which is good. Asked about when I will have another scan, and my ob at 32 weeks, so 4 weeks till I see my little bubba again. So excited as going car shopping tomorrow. We are tossing up between a mazda CX7 and a Honda CRV.
Have a great weekend.
Hi everyone...it has been quiet here....I guess we are all just waiting, waiting, waiting now!
Lulu - I think alot of people get puffy feet and fingers when pregnant.....retained fluid. I am sure it is nothing to worry about. As Dragon said, it (along with other symptoms) can also be a symptom of Pre-eclampsia......so worth mentioning to your doc. My doc asked each visit if I have had any swelling.
Cazz - wow, your little bundle might be here sooner! Yeah! So are they thinking of inducing you? Just wondering why they wouldn't leave her there longer if she is on the small size??
Smiley - will be thinking of you all weekend. So Sunday's the day???
Em - glad to see on facebook that the girls are doing well.
Jai - have fun car shopping! Glad to hear all your test came back normal.
Peanut - yeah for one more week left! It will fly by. Hope your iron levels increase soon....I have used Fefol and another one (which i can't remember the name of) but not Fabol. I found they both 'clogged' me up though!
Hello to Doughnut, Dragon, herewego, Ekmum, sydney and everyone else!
AFM - Had my appointment on Wednesday. All is good except for this bl##dy hernia. The pain has now moved up my belly and feels like a knife going in...the only relief I get is lying down. It looks like we might be meeting our little cherub ahead of time as well. No date set as yet. Had my 36 week bloods done yesterday and back to doc on Wednesday.
It is DD 5th birthday tomorrow, so i have been busy making the birthday cake. It has turned out beautiful (if I do say so myself ). We have a party happening tomorrow, then i have my 20 year high school reunion tomorrow night and then a family party for DD on Sunday - I will be completely knackered by Sunday night!!!
:hugs:to everyone!

Cazz - is your ob worried that bubs isn't growing enough? 2 weeks does seem very soon!
May - hopefully the hernia pain subsides once bubs comes along. Is there anything you can take for the pain?
Jai - I love the CX7! I really wanted one when they first came out, but already had a new car so didn't really have an excuse. Now that DH has a Pajero I don't think we could justify having 2 big cars....especially when he's not even here to drive his half the time.
Peanut - how exciting is it knowing that next week is our last week? :highfive: (love this new high 5 icon!) It's such a strange feeling, because it's not like I'm just going on summer holidays - I'm actually stopping work (well, for a year at least). Hopefully I don't become bored after a week! My plan is to fit in as many movies and lunches while I still can :p Next weekend is pretty much the only weekend DH and I have free until I'm about 38 weeks and he's going to be tied up for most of the week days so I've told him we WILL be going out for breakfast or lunch or anything as long as we go out!
Dragongal - I was actually thinking about the sms buddy system as well. Maybe everyone should say whether they want to be included or not, and then we can be paired up and exchange numbers with our partner. I'll put my hand up as a 'yes.'
Smileygirl - how's miss 2cms :D Hopefully Sunday will bring good news!!
AFM - nothing to report except for sore feet and achey legs :( DH came home this afternoon and he's off down south for a 'man-moon' in the morning with his mates (his equivalent of a 'baby-moon'). His last hurrah as a free man  Maybe I'll be able to convince him to fit in a foot massage before he leaves.....

Hi Guys!
May- Where is that hernia? What exactly is it? You're doing well baking DD a cake, making me hungry too but no cake for me :(
Smiley- maybe baby soon huh? Waiting, waiting, waiting :)
Jai & Herewego- Just thought it would be great if we find out when everyone has their bubs as soon as they arrive as not all of us can get internet access whilst in hospital and an sms woud be easier.
Peanut- Just got on the laptop and looked at your 4D pics, how awesome.
hello to everyone else. Weekend again! The days do seem to be flying by even though 9 weeks seem like it's ages away I'm sure it'll be here soon. :hugs: to all
P.S oh had to share this with you guys. My best friend had a baby boy today by caesarean as she too has gestational diabetes and was not allowed past her due date. Well I received a SMS from her DH this afternoon letting me know that their little boy arrived safely and that baby, mum and especially DAD were recovering well. Made me laugh! I'm going go up and see them this Sunday bet it's gonna make me more impatient to meet our little one.

Smiley: its a nice weekend to have a baby. Hope she comes along tomorrow!
May: too bad about the hernia. Sounds really tough.
Enjoy your reunion. And thanks for the advice. Seeing ob on tue so will ask him about the puffy feet.
Afm: think I sprained my ankle at the park with our 3yo this morning :(
I hope it comes good over the w/e. Mum has agreed to move to a retirement village with the option of lots of support as the alzheimers gets worse. Wish I could have her with us but apart from having no room the medical staff have said she will end up needing a full time carer. I can't believe this has happened but hoping to get everything worked out before bubs comes. She's an hour away on her own so having her 10 minutes away will be great. Will be able to have her over every day if she wants to be here.

not yet lol
I have come down with a really bad cough...today i woke up with a fever and snotty nose too...so i really don't think my body will let me go into labour when i am this sick.
I have spoken to the birth suite and they have given me hours for my temp to come down...if not i have to go in and they will have to try and get me on some kind of medication to get me healthy as labour with a chest infection is not a good idea.
SO, we might be waiting more the the end of the week before induction...breathing is required and i am not very good at that at the moment.
