Hi

I was just wanting to know what everyone pays for their scans?

Our 19wk scan is going to cost $240 & I have a feeling that's very expensive. Our 12 wk scan was $175. You then have to pay DVD/CD costs on top of that.

I hear of people getting them done for free or for the most about $160. Where??

I'm in Sydney going to RNS private & have been getting scans done at the hospital at the North Shore Obstetrics & Gynealogical centre just because it's easy & at the hospital. Anyone got tips on where to get the same thing done cheaper?

Thanks alot

Sharyn

Hi there,
I'm not in Sydney, am in Melbourne. I have had 4 scans so far and the cheapest was $160. The 20 week scan was $180 (plus $20 for dvd). I have heard of people getting it done for free too but i have no idea where they are going.

Two of my scans cost me around $180 but i could claim that back through medicare didnt get much back mind you !
The rest were charged fully to medicare !

If your going through a public hospy they can do them onsite which often means you dont pay anything !

hi
i had mine done in SAN / sydney (last year) . they were $220 each and a video cost extra $ 10.
i wouldn´t do it any different. i had wonderful 3d/4d scans and they took their time (30 min in average)- beautiful.
i also got a free disc with all the pics they took form bubby plus HEAPS of printed pics (good quality photo paper).
yes, it is dear, but you get something back from medicare. not sure how much though...sorry.

That's cheap. Mine was just under $300 at Sydney Ultrasound in Chatswood. Costly business indeed having babies.:D That's not including a CD or DVD and they didn't even give me the films. Just 2 pieces of paper with some of the scan pictures, not including the face .....etc.....:(

I haven't paid anything for any of mine, only because I am going public.

You can try looking for someone who bulk bills / covered by medicare.

I know each OB charges differently when you go private though.

We have private health cover but chose to go public for the $$$ side of things. Public is free, private can get quite expensive.
