I would have thought it should be 50/50 with each pregnancy but I have heard that when you have 2 or more of one gender, you are more likey to get another the same.
I have no idea why.

Good luck

do you know when you DTD in your cycle?

ive been reading into shettles method as im the oppisite, have 2 boys and hoping for a girl one day

both my boys were concieved on the day i ovulated. the closer to ovulation are supposed to be boy babies.

where as when we try for a girl, we are meant to DTD 4-5 days before ovulation.

we are having our 3rd boy even after doing everything to sway for a girl. i have also heard that once you have two of a gender, you are likely to have another of that gender. who knows.

My BIL can only have boys,he has 3.How can you know this? Over never heard it before. Do I live under a rock lol.

Someone told me if you've already got 2 of the same you're 75% more likely to get the same gender again. I don't know of there's any truth in it, I think it's still 50/50.

There isn't any scientific evidence of whether dh and his brother can only have 1 gender but we like to torment them.
None of my girls were planned

yeah i think it would be 50/50 cos even some women who have children to different dads, end up with the same genders.

I don't know how true this is, but it was my high school biology teacher who I got it from, so hopefully it has some credibility lol.

Anyway... apparently the sperm with the 'y' chromosome (the ones that make boy babies) are faster than the sperm with the 'x' chromosome (which makes girl babies). But, the 'x' sperm are stronger/longer-lasting than the 'y' ones. So if you DTD at ovulation, you increase the odds of having a boy because the 'y' sperm are faster and tend to get to the egg first. If you DTD a few days after ovulation, you increase the odds of having a girl because many of the 'y' sperm have died off, and more of the 'x' ones are left.

I've got 2 boys (only just had my 2nd!) and I'd also heard the 75% thing. Googling revealed that to be untrue. There is apparently a very slightly increased chance of having a 3rd boy if you already have 2.

http://www.in-gender.com/XYU/Odds/Gender_Odds.aspx

Also there was very little evidence to support the gender swaying concept - however, if I did have another bub I would try it for a girl.

Hmmm interesting.
I have two girls but have always wanted a son (as has DH) we sometimes flirt with the idea of having one more in hopes of a boy but i think if we had 5 kids they would probably be all girls. Not that i would mind - i love my girls but a son would be lovely too.

Good luck op, hope you get your little boy :goodvibes:

I have no idea.. But i can say gender swaying may work as me and dp dtd on day of ovulation and we are expecting a boy, so maybe worth a try! Good luck and let us all know on tuesday :)

Its pretty much 50/50 each time. Based on research of overall births 51% are boys and 49% are girls.

I've pulled this from a great website ;):

"The odds of having a boy seem to increase after having girls, except after 2 girls, when a 3rd girl is more likely." After having 2 girls the chances of having a boy are 46%.

So really still pretty close to 50/50. Good luck :)

a son and two almost three daughters here. Did have a loss last year but unsure what gender was (I felt boy but then I thought this one was a boy too so my instinct is off, lol) WE discussed the idea of going for a 5th early on but I've been far too sick this pregnancy and hate the idea of how sick I could be next time.

I know of two families that have 5 boys, one the mother couldn't 'keep' girls she sadly had many miscarriages over the years and I'd have never known or guessed.

A friend with two boys asks me how come I make girls I said I don't know seems I've forgotten how to make boys all said tongue in cheek of course as we both know we don't really choose at all. ;)

50/50 if you ask me.

DF's step uncle can only & does only hbe girls, 7 to be exact. When trying for #7 they badly wanted a boy & after 6 girls they decided to get genetic testing done. His 100% girls.

My father came from a family of four boys, he and his brothers all went on to have 11 boys between them, I was the only girl:laughing:.
I have two boys, and DH and I are going the whole hog for a girl next year, am going to try and do everything that the ingender forums suggest:fingerscrossed:.

we have two boys and were told this bub is a girl so i guess we'll find out very soon if the sonographer was correct. she put it at 99% certain girl.

so OP, did you find out the result?

I was also told of a rare case where a womans internal environment is the wrong PH for male sperm to survive, resulting in only girl children.

Note - this was told to me rumour style about a mother that had four daughters, so there may be no validity to the statement.

I don't believe the 50/50 thing for a second! I do believe that the more children you have of any given gender the more likely you are to continue to have that gender, but i don't think the likelyhood is as high as 75%.

I had a girl after 2 boys, as did my mother, and a number of other people i know.

I believe it is just luck of the draw.
I have girl, boy, boy, boy to my XH and girl, girl, boy with DH.
My mum lost 2 boys before she had us three girls and my nanna had only my mum...my DS1 was the first boy in 75 years. :D

Hi :)

I have read somewhere that if you have 2 of the same sex and have a third, there is a 80% chance of getting the same sex. After the 3rd, the odds go back to 50/50.

Worked that way for me

And, I'm sorry, I can't remember where I read that!!
