View Full Version : How old was bub when the nlearnt to settle themselves off???????
Just curious to see what age other people bubs were when then learnt to settle themselves off to sleep
DS is 10.5 months old and still eithers needs to be rocked off to sleep or will fall asleep having a bottle (the later ususally only happens at the 6 -6.30pm and 9.30pm feeds).
I have tried CC , but he just plays in his cot, with what ever he can find, the bars, the sheets, the bumper you name it. This went on for ages. (we tryed CC for 2 weeks then I threw in the towel)
I was also wondering should be be doing it by now?????? And how I get him to?
Thanks

My DD is also 10 months old & I have been wondering exactly the same thing!! (So nice to know I am not the only one!!)
She slept through from around 6 weeks old, but then re-started night waking at around 6 months.
She has been waking on & off since then, but lately, when she has been waking, she just refuses to go back to sleep, no matter how much rocking, cuddling, singing, feeding we do!
Rocking or feeding her to sleep never really bothered me too much before now, but now that we are expecting bub #2 in March, and especially now that I am having to sit up with her for half the night every night, I've decided that it has to come to a stop!
re-started night waking at around 6 months
DS is the same. Started sleppign through at around 10 weeks and has been wakign since 6 months once or twice a night.
Glad to know it is not just me too

PS DS is only 11 days older than your DD

All 3 of mine did it from birth. :o I never got them into needing help to settle, I just put them to bed when they started rubbing their eyes or yawning etc and they fell asleep not long after.
I hope you all get them to settle themselves soon though. :hugs:
My DD is 7 months old slept through for 2 months untill 5 months and then started waking 3 - 4 times a night, she just sreams no amount of cuddling etc will help and she refuses to go back to sleep. I have had enough, i have tried cc and wrapping her again, we put her in our bed and no matter what we do she just cries and throws herself around. It is so frustrating and being so tierd doesn't help because you don't see things clearly. She will cry herself to sleep at the start of the night and throw herself around the cot until she falls asleep but wont do it through the night, she used to be so good i don't know what went wrong we didn't change anything, im thinking maybe teeth.
From 6 months indy has been settling herself to sleep. as long as shes been fed, changed etc.. we just put her in her cot with her dummy and her lil baby pillow and she goes off to sleep.. her pillow is her comforter, she lays there playing with the corner of i till she falls asleep.

My DD started sleeping through when she was about 11 weeks. I don't rock her to sleep, I just put her in her cot when she's getting tired and she usually just talks to herself for ten minutes and then goes to sleep.
I don't know how I managed to achieve this... it just happened :smiliedance:

Thats what I do with my 3.5mnth old DD, just pop her in the cot when she starts getting tired & off she goes to sleep:sleeping:
I would rock or tap my DS's to sleep when they were bubs so they didnt start putting themselves to sleep until they were like two!
It only took me 4 babies to get it right!!!

I'm another lucky one in that both of my babes just seemed to be able to settle themselves. Doesn't mean they always do it but most of the time its good. They also re-settle themselves if waking in the night.
