I am thinking about going private but i dont have health cover.

I know hospital stay is approx $5,000 and because i want a c-section that will be approx $1,000 aswell.

Do i need to pay it all upfront or can i pay it off???? I have a feeling its not the latter :( :gloomy:

Thanks.

I might ring the private hospital and ask them :)

With a c-section you will also have to consider the Anaesthetist and the Paediatrician. When you ring the hospiatl you could ask who is mostly used, grab their numbers and get a quote on that as well.

Around $1000 a day, bit less for SCN. Should you need NICU, you will have to go public.

Did you find an OB in Gero?

If not have you thought about asking your PHI for a no gap OB? This is what I used for DS1 and I just had to pay my $250 excess, the Pead check-up was free.

If your coming up to Perth I know the private wing at armadale (galliers) uses the public side for c/s so I was told that there was any extra cost involved should I require one, they just do the OP and ship you down the corridor to the private wing after, there very nice :)

I hope no one needs NICU, not a nice place.

Just cause their full term, doesnt mean they wont need NICU.

The private hospital I went to required payment upon admission, I would assume they are all the same except under extreme circumstances.

The anaesthetist, assistant OB and paediatrician will send you a bill to pay afterward.

The hospital I went to cost $760 per night for your stay and $1800 for theatre costs (including c section).

You then have to pay for your obstetrician.

I enquired about paying outright as when I fell pregnant I didn't think my level of PHI covered me at a private hospital, but it turns our they did.

The hospital invoiced my health fund just over $6k for my hospital stay and delivery.

I paid around $1k in bills in total for the anesthetist, paed and assistant.

And my OB cost $5.5k (but all OB's fees are different).

So you're looking at about $6-7k for hospital and c section costs and anywhere from $3-5k for OB.
