hi all, well my little baby is just 5 weeks old, and i believe she is constipated. :( she hasnt done any kaka since late thurs night. ive tried tummy time, rubbing tum, and even holding her legs up, but all she keeps doing is (fluffies) and scrunching up in pain. any ideas? i cant remember if this happened with my other two.
btw she is a breastfed babe thnx in advance
If she is 100% breast fed then she wont be constipated. They can go weeks without pooing and be ok. My DS went 2 weeks and my doc wasnt concerned at all, she told me after 3 weeks they start looking into another reason for not passing ! Such a long time !
If she seems to be in pain though perhaps go to your docs and get her checked.. possibly just wind pains though...
dont worry yet but dont ignore it either, if it concerns you too much see your Gp
EJ once went i think it was 12 days without doing anything when she was soley b/feed  I took her to the doc a few times to check cause i was so worried but everything seemed fine - she was passing a heap of gas at the time also

Good advice Trace !!
She's saving it up, trust me  Sometimes DS doesn't do a poo all day, and the next morning, he literally has a poo explosion, it goes everywhere... he always gets this cute little cheeky grin after doing it LOL as if to say "hehehe sucked in you have to clean that up!!"
My MW told me about her sisters' fully BF baby, when she was a few weeks old she didn't poo for 10 days. And then she did poo. Gallons and gallons and gallons of lovely yellow BF poo. (OK probably not gallons, but you know what I mean  )
Your bubba may have some wind pain, you said that she scrunches up in pain - try holding her in the colic hold - her head in the crook of your elbow, her body along your arm, and her legs either side of your hand. It can take a few weeks for their little system to adjust to all this drinking/pooing/drinking/pooing stuff. My DS used to look like he was in pain for the first probably 6 or 7 weeks when he was pooing. But now he just gets that determined look, bit of a grunt, then big squirty loud poo's. I tell you it's very funny, but quite embarrassing when he does it in church
She's saving it up, trust me
Aint that the truth !!
When it comes you'll know about it !!

MJ used to go every 10days. As the others have said, she's saving it up for you
My DD is also 5 weeks and is exclusively breast fed. She did her last poo on Wed and then I didnt get another one til yesterday (Sunday) and I actually put a post up on the breastfeeding section because I was also concerned. It is 100% normal though, just watch out when the poo comes coz it will be a whopper!
Hmm I think BF babies do get constipated, JMO I do something which may be awful but advice from my LHCN and that's pop a tiny amount of vasaline in her bum within the hour her poopies have come and she is no longer agonising and screaming the poo's are huge but she is much happier. And so am I lol
