Hello everyone
Thought I might take the time to make my own little announcement.. James Isaac born 12.07 pm, Sunday 21st August 2005, weighing 3.630 kgs (8 pounds) and 52cm long.. He was 4 days early..
Labour was only 5 and a half hours which was pretty quick when I look back on it and when I compare it to my last. My waters broke at 6.30am with contractions starting only 10 minutes later, they came quick but mild lasting about 20-30 seconds every couple of minutes. That lasted for about an hour or so. The contractions then started getting stronger but now lasting a lot longer up to a minute. I stayed home as long as I could, as we had to wait till a decent time to call my sister so she could come and pick up my little girl, my husband still packing clothes for her stay at her aunts. DD was excited that her little brother was on his way. Once she was off so were we (to the hospital) with my contractions getting stronger. I was relieved when we got there and met up with my midwife. Once we settled in the birthing suite I went and jumped straight into the hot shower, which felt really good and eased the contractions a little, what made it better was my husband in there with me massaging my back. After about an hour in the shower the midwife examined me and said that I was 9cm dilated. I was surprised that I was that far already, and glad that it would be all over soon and I’d be holding my little one. After the midwife examined me I really wanted to get back in that hot shower, the contractions felt much more bearable in there. I was only in there for 30 minutes when I felt the urges to push. So out I was again and found myself on my knees leaning against the front of a recliner. After 20-30 minutes of pushing out came my beautiful boy. I delivered naturally with no tears and with no drugs what so ever which is pretty good. I had an epi with my last, which made this labour a different experience. Overall baby and I were lucky, we had no complications with the labour and birth.
I would also like to include and thank my husband for doing such a great job. I couldn’t have gone through this without him. He is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Thank you Robert, LOVE you FOREVER.
Thanks for listening and letting me rave on. Hope everyone had a good labour and birth and for anyone who’s still waiting, hang in there. :D
