Just looking back now and realise how amazing giving birth is i just re read my dd's and ds's birth and thought some people might like to read it is edited because i now remember more:yes: .

Serena Bella's Birth
I went in for my 38 weeks check up and was sent for an ultrasound. The results confirmed that she was growing too big. They said she was a bit bigger than 9lbs and because I am diabetic they said that I needed to be induced. They gave me an internal and to my disbelief I was already 3cm dilated. The ob done a stretch and sweep and booked me in for an induction for the following Tuesday which was 12th April 2005.In that week I got quite strong Braxton hicks but did not go into labour. On the 11th April 2005 I was getting very nervous and excited of the awaiting arrival of our daughter. I tried to go to bed early as I was to get up early and be in hospital by 7.30am.I tried every position in bed to get comfortable and go to sleep but I just couldn't. At 6.00am I got all my gear ready and into the car had breakfast and off we (my mum, partner and I) went to the hospital. We arrived there at around 7.00am and they organised all my files and transferred me to the delivery suite. The midwife introduced herself and said that the doctor will be in shortly to break my waters. At 8.00am the doctor checked me and I was 4cm dilated and already having small contractions. The doctor broke my waters and I felt a big warm gush like I had peed myself (worst feeling). I talked with the midwife and decided to wait an hour to see if labour started by itself. At 9.00am I was still only having small contractions and agreed to have the drip with syntocin inserted. They slowly upped the dose and at 9.30am I started to get stronger more regular contractions. I walked around for a while and sat on the birthing ball and walked and sat and so on. At around 5.00pm I was exhausted and just wanted to lie down after walking around. The midwife done an internal and said that I was 6cm dilated asked about 5.30pm if I could have some pain relief as the contractions were getting very strong and coming about every 5 minutes. I was given some morphine, as I didn’t want pethidine cause it makes u sick and they gave me some Phenergan to help me rest. The pain relief took the edge off the contractions but I still felt them. With every contraction I concentrated on my breathing. At about 9.00pm I started feeling funny, the contractions were about two minutes apart and was onto of each other. I was trying so hard with my breathing and in the end gave in and asked for an epidural. At 9.25pm the epidural was in and the midwives done an internal I was 10cm dilated. They said I could push and my baby would be born soon at 12.00pm with no success with pushing the doctor was called to come in the my babies heart rate was dropping with each contraction and needed to be out. I agreed to have her suctioned out with the vacuum they attached it to her head and within half an hour I gave 2 big pushes and my baby girl entered the world at 12.31am 13th April 2005 weighing 7lb 14oz(not 9lbs) head circumference of 35.5cm and a length of 46cm with dark brown hair oh so BEATIFUL. She was placed on my tummy and the cord cut and put on my breast to feed. I was then stitched up with only a 2nd degree tear (not too bad having had a vacuum birth).

Sasha Brandon’s birth
I was to be induced on the 15.07.06(my due date) due to me being diabetic they don’t let you go over because you can get placenta previa. So the night before I made sure all my bags were packed and went off to bed for an early night. I could not sleep at all I was so excited and nervous tomorrow I was to meet my little Prince. I rang the hospital at 12 to see wether I could come in but they said they were very busy and to come in at 4(meant to be there at 2) but 2hrs later they rang and said they were still busy so now had to come in at 6.We dropped dd off at her nanny and Opas and went and got dinner and then off we went to the hospital. When we got in there they were still quite busy so I had to wait a while for them to put the catheter in. At 9.30pm the ob came in and put the catheter in (natural way instead of gel) at. My mum and my partner left to go home and get some sleep the catheter usually takes 6-10 hrs. At 11.00pm I got up to go to the toilet and the catheter fell out. Doctor examined me and I was 2-3cm dilated but my cervix was not favourable. The ob decided not to break my water yet because they babies head was still high. The midwife put the gel in and waited to the morning. At 8 am the ob came to examine me again I had been getting small contractions all night I was still 2-3cm but my cervix was still favourable but bubs head was still a bit high. The ob decided to break my waters while someone pushed the baby down so the cord didn’t slip around his neck. Everything went fine and was allowed to walk round to see if I got spontaneous contractions. I walked around till 10 had small contractions but not big enough to do anything. So they put the syntocin drip in and by 11am I was in established labour. By 4 pm I was getting pretty strong contractions, the midwife examined me and told me I was still only 4cm, which was a bit of a let down. So I decided to have some pain relief they gave me some morphine & Phenergan. The morphine didn’t do much for pain just made me sleepy so I tried to relax a little by 7pm I was getting really restless contractions coming on top of each other with no break and just knew I was in the transition I just couldn’t handle it I decided to go with a epidural I knew I had came so far but the pain was unbelievable they are much stronger in subsequent births. As I was getting the epidural I felt like I needed to push and I told the midwife who asked me if I still wanted the epi regardless and I said yes. By 7.30 it was in and I just rested they checked me at 8.30pm and told me I was fully dilated and they said to rest for an hour and wait for the head to come right down and for the epi to wear off so I can push. By 9.35 they said I could push I could start to feel my legs and contractions. I was on my knees and gave three good pushes with the first contraction and his head started to come down further. Then with the next contractions he started to crown In-between the next contraction I started panting with the next contraction I gave a little push then another and his head came out then one more push and his body came out after ten minutes of pushing Sasha Brandon was born at 9.45pm on 16.07.06 1 day overdue weighing 7lbs 15oz, 47cm long & 34cm head.He has strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes. His daddy cut the cord and was put onto mummies tummy to feed.
