I have had a child who tt under one year old ( she is a funny child who is very determined and stubborn, she just said no nappy big girl and that was it. Yes she was an early talker too) the rest were between 18 mths and 2 and 1/2 years. DS2 hasn't yet and he is 26 mths.

DD was 3yo for wee and 3.5yo for poo.

I didn't 'train' her as such I just put knickers on her during the day and at 3yo she was old enough to tell me she needed to do a wee. She also would tell me she needed a nappy because she needed to poo, so I gave her one.

At night time I just had her in undies and she has never wet the bed. Not once.

I had to crack down a bit and stop buying nappies at 3.5 because she was starting school and needed to be able to do a poo on the toilet and she has done really well after that.

I wasn't in a rush to get her toilet trained and let her take her time and let me know when she is ready.

Ds is 3 and still cant feel himself doing poo. I have tried him being naked but poo and wee just drip down his legs. He has no feeling yet.

Dd is 16 months corrected and she could be tt if i could be bothered but it is winter and i prefer no accidents until summer. Usually she sits on the potty for wee and poo

Day time or night time?

DS is pretty much for day time from about 2y 10 months but still needs nappies overnight.

Both DD1 & 2 were toilet trained day & night by 2. They just decided them selves no more nappies.

DS1 is 3 years 10 months and we still haven't been able to TT him. We have been struggling with it for around 18 months now.

He just doesn't care. We have had him out of nappies for the last 3 weeks and he will just wee and poo when he wants. I will spend the whole day getting him to sit on the toilet and he will do nothing. Take him off and he will do it in his pants. He doesn't care that he is wet either. He will just continue playing and spreading it all over the house.

Bit of a sore point at the moment, feeling like such a failure. :(

My eldest two were trained day and night by 3, but my youngest is a smart little chappie, and has decided at 24months to train himself:) we are now nearly nappy free and he does all poo on the toilet:):)

I think she bribed him with chocolate to start with but from memory things went very smoothly once he decided he wanted to do it, as in no accidents. Hope it happens for you soon, and don't stress yourself too much in the mean time, he WILL do it eventually.

DD - 28 months
DS1 - 26 months

I can only hope that DS2 is as easy as they were! Both DD and DS1 just got to a stage where they were so toilet aware, all I had to do was say "if you need to do a wee or a poo, let me know and we'll go to the toilet" and that was that, they were both toilet "trained" and no accidents to speak of :)

Edit - this was for both day and night.

I included being dry at night - is that what I was supposed to do?

Anyway, that was about age 3.5.

DS has just turned four and is not tt yet. He still has no awareness, as well as other struggles to conquer in the learning process, but I am optimistic that we will get there eventually.

My DS was toilet trained by 2.
Before having him I worked in a child care center that made a goal to have all the 2yr olds completely toilet trained before they moved to the 2-3yr old room. I just assumed this was the normal age so when I had my son I made that my goal.

DD was day "trained" at 25 months. She now has all day naps (if she has a day nap) without at nappy and she is 29 months. Will probably hold off night training till the summer months.
