Hi all

Excuse my ignorance but could someone tell me when testing your body temp, what you look for when Ovulating and when is the best time to bd based on temperature testing? Is it a rise or fall that i need to look out for and how soon before or after O does the rise or fall occur? - or does the change in temp occur at the exact time of O? Or, do people only look at temps as a guide to maybe being pg after O has occured? Ok I am confused! I purchased a thermometer today and am keen to use it (along with OPKs) so that I can get a BFP instead of that dreaded BFN next month. (I hope I don't look too silly asking this question - it's just that so many people refer to their temps and I am absolutely cluless when it comes to all this..... )

Thanks guys for any advice you have to offer me and good luck to us all TTC......

hey Babe

best site to use to chart your temps is www.fertilityfriend.com

normally you will get a DIP on the day of Ovualtion - or your temp will at least be low, it will then start to rise, and needs to be up for 3 days for O to be confirmed. Normally by the time you have seen its going/gone up O has been and gone. You might be in with a chance the day it starts to rise, but less likely on the 2nd or 3rd day.

Your temps should then stay up after O, and continue to stay up if you are in fact preg. After O when you get a big dip it normally means AF will show up either that day or in the next few

there is lotsa info in the FAQ section of FF - Fertility Friend.

:fingerscrossed: for you!!

Tara-jane

Thanks heaps for the information - well explained! I will look at the fertility friend website - I've heard others refer to their fertility charts so perhaps I will start one of my own now that I know what temping is all about.

Thanks again

Parkm - I wouldn't be replying on temps to help you determine when to BD. Most women don't see a noticeable dip on O day, and temping will only help you confirm when O actually took place (as temperature rises after O). It will not help you pick O beforehand. Use OPKs and check your CM - these are much more reliable for giving you advance warning.
