Hi Girls,

Just thought I would do a quick post about conceiving after being diagnosed with PCOS. I'll make it quick so it's not too much to read through.

I was diagnosed with PCOS 18 months ago, after ttc our third baby for 9 months. I had weight issues, was getting the odd facial hair and wasn't ovulating.

I was put on Yasmin, which helped me to no end. Obviously it regulated my cycle. And I started losing weight, in conjunction with a calorie controlled diet.

I am 168 cm and weighed 86 kg at my heaviest. Within 12 months I had dropped down to 66 kgs. And I maintained that 66kg for 6 months before thinking, perhaps we could try again.

Convinced DH and we tried again.

I have heard that losing weight is a MAJOR factor in controlling PCOS. And in my case, the were right.

I came off the Yasmin on the 11th July (I was on sugar pills that week, having AF). I conceived that month. I actually FELT ovulation happen for the first time in a very long time.

I've also read that it doesn't take a major weight loss to kick start your body into action.

So that's my story. Just wanted to let all those suffering that there is hope, and there are solutions :D

Congrats again for your BFP Mummamoo...:smiliedance: and you are right  There is definitely hope for women with PCOS. I was diagnosed with PCOS about 9 years ago and was told that when I wanted to have kids "some day" I would have trouble conceiving. Well that "day" came 2 years after DH and I were married and decided to TTC. After 12 months of TTC, no luck, so my obgyn put me on Clomid and on our second cycle we conceived our beautiful DD. However we conceived our second pgy naturally. I was at my most healthiest at the time (I think so anyway, oh and prob most fertile as my DD was 11 months old). Funny thing was, we wern't even trying!! Unfortunately we lost the baby and they don't know why...anyway, that was 3 months ago, I'm pretty sure I'm Oing every 6 weeks or so (I know, long but, hey ....... better than not!!) and...today I got a + OPK :yelclap: AND its CD19...so not bad!! (I think its the chinese herbs I'm taking this month).... so my point, PCOS is not the be all, end all some drs and ppl make it out to be.

Thats a encouraging story Sara and cmd :)

I have pcos too but didn't find out until I went off the pill and had been ttc for a year so we saw a gyno. Once it was diagnosed he put me on diaformin to regulate my insulin resistance and loose weight. After awhile I tried a few cycles of clomid which didn't work.

BUT during that time I lost 8 kilos. After 8 more months of charting my ovulation and taking clomid with no sucess we thought we'd have to do IVF so we thought we'd have a break before doing ivf. I'd been to a few info sessions on it and was already stressed from charting and clomid etc. Our relationship was suffering.

While we were on a break, I fell naturally! No clomid or anything - though I knew I was ovulating.

So girls it CAN and does happen eventually :D have faith and patience. I believe that its made me a stronger person and I appreciate the blessing of my pregnancy so much more.

Best wishes and hugs to you all ttc! :hugs:
