My baby girl is 4 1/2 months old and from day 1 has thrown up with every feed. She will vomit no matter what: I have tried feeding her almost up right, keeping her upright for 30 minutes and every thing else they suggest. Have tried smaller feeds etc,

She doesn't seem to be in any pain but I am way over the vomiting, changing, cleaning !! She can vomit the second the bottle is taken out of her mouth or three hours later when I get her up to feed her again.

She is on formula only.

We have her on Zantac but as suspected, it hasn't helped with the vomiting. I am ready to stop this as it isn't helping.

I have heard it may help to introduce Farex to hold down the feed. Any ideas on this ? When do I feed it to her ... how long before a bottle and how much?

our paed advised starting rice cereal at 4 months for reflux DS2. Start slow, mix up the smallest amount on the pack. Most of it will end up coming out. I can't remember precisely how often, but I think it was once a day for a week, then twice a day for a week and then 3 times a day.

Perhaps also investigate hypoallergenic formula, you'll have to see a paed or very good doctor

Starting solids just made the spew more fun in our house. My experience with two reflux babies is that not much stops the spew.

Karicare thickner in the formula helped a bit and DD was pretty responsive to infant gaviscon.....

Mine grew out of it at around 10-11 months.

I had an army of bibs and for me a sort of "spew uniform" that consisted of a ton of black matching cheap tshirts.

sorry to tell you that solids really didnt help here either. We had DS on Karicare HA AR formula (hypoallergenic anti-reflux) which helped with the spew to some extend, but he really only grew out of it when he started to walk at 10 months

Thank you.

Yeah we have tried Novalac Reflux Formula and a formula thickener. The spew just comes up thicker !!

I am thinking of trying Gaviscon Infant and see how that goes. But I believe it just thickens the formula which the above did and that didn't work. I might give it a try any way.

Any thing to stop the spew !!!

I so understand what you are going through my DD is the same, it's puke-town around here, so much so the poor dear now has the nick name princess pukey face!!! You have to find humor in it anyway you can I think!
My paed really just said you have to ride it out and did suggest it starts to improve from around 6 months when the can start to sit by themselves. My doctor has suggested we start solids at 4 months (2weeks away) which I wasn't going to consider till 5 months but if it helps a bit it's worth a try.
I too am going to try the infant gaviscon tomorrow but we've not had much success with thickener so am not holding my breath.
She is also on zantac but we were told it wouldn't help with how much comes up it will just stop it burning which has been the case.
I'm just so sick of the drenched clothing, I can't even smell it anymore so I'm sure we stink!
I can recommend mum2mum bibs (google them) they have a waterproof backing but are very absorbent (can hold 1/4 of a cup of fluid) and can be machine washed and dried. They have made my life a little easier! They also make a playmat which is great.
