hi,
i am just on 3 months with my 3rd pregnancy... but we have only just moved from nsw less than 6 months ago, & we / "i" am really confused about where to go for pre-natal & booking hospital etc...

i wouldnt care & would love to just wing it at home, but as i have had two previous caesars & have a subchorionic haemorrhage this time
[added to the fact im overweight due to longterm depression/mental health issues exacerbated by 2 previous pregnancies] i have no idea of how to fulfill the desperate need to make decisions about how / where to be cared for pre-natal, let alone birth etc..

my closest "public" hospital [as we are currently on the pension due to my illness'] is wonthaggi district, but it is alllllllllllot different to how things worked when i lived in nsw [ i lived regionally there, but in comparison to my current healthcare it now seems like the big smoke]

has anyone used wonthaggi hospital maternity etc?
we have considered whether to up the expertise & travel to dandenong or monash but with a 3 & a 2 yr old, the 2hr travel each way is pretty tough..
also, i am a bit confused, is monash only for private?
because we have a referral for an obstetrician there, but from what ive read it does not appear to be an option for public patients at all...

anyway, have dribbled enough about what reads as actually not much,:ecomcity:
so hoping someone can help me out with my new location & reality check woes of healthcare in rural vic..

PEACE 2 ALL

I'm not much help but can only suggest that you call all the hospy's you are considering and find out more about them. Monash isn't private,no. Did you have quick labours before?, i don''t think i would risk travelling 2 hours to hospy. Hope soemone more helpful comes along....:)

Hi
I live in S.E Melb and I am having my bub at Casey Hosp in Berwick. But I don't think they would take you as they are a low risk birthing centre.
Dandenong is public but I am not sure about Monash. There is a hospital at Mornington which is private (I think) but it might be worth enquiring there anyway.
Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy :yelclap:

Hello, just me again. There is another thread about Melb OB's, here is the link, not sure if it might help you.

hi stellaj..
thanx for the info about monash.. once i read into it a bit more i realised my appointment was at the jessie mcpherson which is private, but within? monash which is public...
i think hubby & i have just got to go & do some trekkin around different hosps, & see if any 'call' to us...
if it wasnt for our youngens we would likely go the distance for the monash / dandenong as any complications would certainly be dealt with alot more efficiently i would imagine.. but we'll have to wait & see...
[havent had labours before due to caesars, but even when the doctors had told me i had to have caesar for #2, i questioned them & they checked & my cervix was on holidays, so i dont think it would be a quick labour - if i got that far]

hi hel's...
thanx for your info & advice... yes, i wouldnt be accepted for a low risk option, because of my previous caesars & current haemorrhage [also my excessive weight:shame: ]..
hubby & i will just have to do the hard yards & go searching..
