Hi All

I am just on six weeks and have been feeling fine until the last couple of days, its grose, its started and i feel sick all the time..I work full time and its really hard my job is stressful aswell and i make the effort to come in but when i feel sick and think I am not been very productive here feeling like this, i have no support from work if I wanna go home. The girls in my team have gotten a bit nasty since they found out I was pregnant and feel they are trying to accomodate me but I havent asked them too!! Hello, um im pregnant!! they whinge if i leave early or if i dont come in and im finding it frustrating and making me feel worse.
If I keep going home early or taking days off i am scared ill lose my job is this fair that i feel this way?? I have plenty of sick leave and i dont feel well!!

:hugs: big hugs for you!!

i was so sick (very lucky it was just me and my boss in our office and he was so very understanding) in the end i had to quit at about 13 weeks as i was not getting better (hyperemesis :()

But if you have sick leave accrued, your boss etc is happy with u leaving early etcit shouldnt be an issue. Make sure u dont find urself in a workplace harrassment position.... i know a GF of mine was harrassed horrendously during her pregnancy and when she returned to work...

Sometimes other women are just so harsh...

Perhaps it might be worth sitting down with ur boss working out a more flex situation for the next few weeks until the MS passes... not sure if they would be up for that but its worth a shot!

Good luck :hugs:and i hope it passes soon!!

big :hugs: work can be so stressful on its own without the added baby-ness!

I would try to ignore the other women, one day when they are pregnant they will be feeling just as sorry for themselves and hopefully feel bad about taking it out on you!

If you are worried about your boss or jeopardising your job, is it possible to get a docs cert for the time off you take when you are ill? I always get one just in case, i dont always send it in but i have it kept somewhere safe so if anyone ever does decide to start pointing the finger i have it to back me up :)

My work has actually been great, it may be different working for a group of males, they cant really relate

I hope your MS eases soon and you can get back to feeling normal and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy :hugs:

There is a woman that I work with, she is about 4 months along, she has also been ill, I was unawares that she was even sick until she told me! She takes a wafer (I think it is Zofran?not certain) that stopped her from feeling sick. Worth looking into with your GP?

I think you need to be open and honest with the women at work and confront them about how it feels when they are giving you a hard time. Some people arn't happy unless they have someone or something to winge about!!

Don't worry about them, take care of you first. They will survive if they have to do a "little" extra work boo hoo for them. Ha Ha ;) good luck

I'm in a very similar situation! I'm now 10 weeks and it is getting worse if anything.

Luckily my boss has been very understanding and is allowing me to work from home as much as possible. BUT I can't concentrate at home either so really I'm not getting much done!

I have tried the small meals, fizzy drinks, late starts, extra sleep NOTHING has helped. I finally cracked it yesterday when I threw up on the train on the way to work and then again in the lift. (as well as 4 other times in between!) No more going in to work unless absolutely necessary or I start to feel better.

Another bubhubber replied to one of my similar threads with if you had 2 broken legs you wouldn't go in and you wouldn't feel bad about it! S true, just because we know why we are sick it doesn't make it any easier to get over. I've also read "don't expect to wake up one day and it will be gone" it could be many weeks yet..

I may lose my job - but I think my boss is being understanding and it won't come to that, but being healthy and not stressed is more important to me right now.

See you GP, maybe ask them to right a letter explaining that it is a medical condition and you will be sick, get some maxalon (hasn't helped for me but try it!), and talk to your boss about doing reduced hours for a few weeks and then re-asses from there.

I hope your partner is being supportive at home and you at least get a break there!
Lots of hugs and understanding from me!

I had the same problem. Found out after 2.5 weeks that I was pregnant and lost my job a week later. HG set in, I had to then find a new job, while pregnant, suffering HG, and NOT tell them I was pregnant til the contract was signed! Luckily I was only 5 weeks when I found a new job so was able to say I didn't know before then :o and found it to be a change for the best even if it was massively stressful trying to work out how to live off unemployment benefits while paying rent, etc, AND save for things for a baby. It worked out though in the end and they were quite supportive of everything.

I worked in a childcare centre at the time I fell pregnant and ended up working in a Catholic school through pregnancy.

Its a hard thing to manage morning sickness as it can come and go and you have good and bad days.
I would suggest getting a letter from your dr to give to your boss explaining that you have a confirmed pregnancy and are suffering from morning sickness so may need to make use of your sick leave over the next few months.
Can you speak with your boss and ask him/her to speak with the rest of your team about hopefully showing a bit of compassion when you leave early or can't come in as you are well entitled to use your sick leave without feeling guilt or having others talking behind your back.

Hi All

Thanks so much for your replies, I took yesterday off and i am in today and struggling!! I was desperate and took stemetil as I seem to suffer an allergic reaction to maxalon and im still drowsy!!! I am counting down the hours till its 5pm so I can go home and crash. I have great support at home from my partner and also my parents who take care of my 5 year old to give me a break. Perhaps I will go see the doctor and get a letter and ask for part time till I feel better and this phase passes (hopefully soon LOL). Yes some people don't know what compassion is and are selfish!! But my health is more important and this baby that is growing inside me so if I loose my job well its not the end of the world!!

Thanks all and good luck =)

If its getting worse, i would look into Zofran (as mentioned by a PP)

I was on these from 9 weeks (and still am.....) but they did manage to stop the actual vomtting most days (still felt like hell but could at least keep the water down)

They are not cheap but if u have private health, they may help cover the cost.

Best wishes and hope it passees soon xoxox

It's a bit of a tough situation as you don't want to announce that your pregnant till about 12 weeks but I was just feeling so sick that people started to assume so I confessed that I was 7 weeks along. So far so good, they have been excellent but I wonder if their patience will wear thin if I feel sick all the time. Let's hope the sickness goes away after 3 months!! I have been lucky not to vomit yet but I get the most queezy stomach about 80% of the time :((
