I am on my first round of Clomid (50mg) and after a few blood tests along the way went in this morning to get another BT and an ultrasound...

There on the screen I saw a big mature folicle, they said it was a great size! :smiliedance: :smiliedance:

I am waiting to hear about my bloods to see if they think I will need a trigger injection or not... unless the levels are really low they said they will probably give me the weekend to see if I ovulate by myself and if not I will go in on Monday for a trigger injection... am yet to warn DH that this weekend is going to be busy in the bedroom! lol

This is the first time I would have ovulated, since before I was on the pill anyway, and I was about 15 then! I am excited to see if I feel it or anything, I know it is on my right side.

Wow, we actually have a chance while TTC'ing this time! It feels so good just to know I will ovulate!

I have a question though... just curious... Can only 1 egg be released from a follicle or can a follicle sometimes contain more than 1 egg?
I know non-identical twins are from 2 different eggs and identical ones are from the same that splits, just wondering can 2 eggs come from 1 follicle?

Fingers crossed! :fingerscrossed:
Just had to tell someone my news!

OMG Nicole, how exciting, i have been waiting to hear news from you YAY :smiliedance: :smiliedance: ohh i hope you ovulate by yourself, that would be great :yelclap:
You should get some pain when you ovulate hopefully, like a short sharp stabby pain, most people do i think.
Sorry i cant help you with your other questions.

Nicole - I think it would be very unusual for two eggs to come from one follicle. I think non-identical twins result from two follicles being released (usually one from each ovary).

Don't be surprised if you don't feel anything when you ovulate. I have never felt anything. But then if you're watching out for it, maybe you'll notice it more.

All the best and good luck with your BDing!:yelclap:

Funny you should mention ovulation pain.....

Ever since about 10:00 today I have felt a constant pain, kind of like a stitch in my right lower side... not hugely painful but enough to notice... it is continual though, I dont think it has stopped.... can the follicle become tender before it ruptures? The BT nurse did ask if I had felt it (the follicle) and she knew that I hadnt ovulated yet so perhaps this is what she was referring to?

I am trying to tell myself it is all in my head but I know the pain is there! I know that the follicle is on my right side... can you seriously bring on pain just by thinking about it!!??

Thanks for the kind words of support guys... I notice you are both TTC #1 also. I wish to shower us all with bucket loads of healthy baby dust! :hugs:

Wow! that is such good news Nicole. Well done. How exciting for you!! I'm excited for you!!

The pain you are describing sounds just like my Ovulation pains. I have read that pain in the right side is most common. Sounds like all systems go to me! Good luck for the weekend. :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed:

Its now Sunday and I am still feeling the pain in my right side. Yesterday it was there but not as bad as Friday... today it is still there and probably a little worse than yesterday... i definately would describe it like a stitch... right down just in from my pubic bone a few inches above the pubic hair line.

I have never felt this type of pain before and am positive it isnt just in my head so Im confident that I have Od by myself.. i certainly hope so but if i didnt i will be given a trigger injection tomorrow anyway.

Because the pain is continuing would it mean that i have not ovulated yet? or can it still hurt a bit afterwards? Friday was definately worse and longer, yesterday and today it is more off and on again (but funny that today is worse than yesterday)

We have BDd twice already and might again tonight... :D I heard clomid can dry up cervical mucus so, even though it seems like I have plenty for lubrication we have been using PreSeed anyway, you squirt it inside with an applicator so Im hoping it helped out at the cervix a bit! Of course Ive also been doing the legs against the wall and pelvis up on a pillow trick... :p any little thing that might help and cant hurt trying!

I am feeling really positive about this and have a feeling we are going to conceive, however I am constantly reminding myself that it may well not happen this first time round and I do know that and am not getting my hopes up. Its hard to imagine myself pregnant, even after all this time of dreaming about the day I discover I am... I just have this feeling about it, I dont know why but I do know that it is early days and if it doesnt happen this time i am confident that it will eventually.

But I tell you, I have plenty of stocks of prego tests and I will be testing every day from about 5 or 6 days past ovulation! lol, the tests are the ones rated 20-whatever it is! lol and i think for testing around 7dpo... but i wont be able to help myself! lol

oh Nicole i am so excited for you, and i am not going to discourage you from testing early, we ALL do it
but remember, as soon as you get that BFP we will all be expecting a pic of the test ok
Clomid really sounds like a miracle drug :smiliedance:

are you still taking your temp?

nicoleE
20-08-2006, 14:32
thanks doula,

I am still taking my temp but so far i have not had a dramatic rise... the fertility specialist said not to bother taking it as it can be so variable and lots of things can upset it so its useles....

I am still taking it but am not too worried that it is not doing much at the moment... i got the feeling from my acupuncturist that they can be so different in people and lots dont get the typical chart pattern on ovulation..

dont worry if i get a BFP it will become my aviator picture!

yeah i did some research a while back about charting, and found that it didnt work for everyone, which is why i stopped doing it, but now of course i am doing it again :p but ill try not to get too hung up on it

Yes Doula...Clomid is great! It helpred me concieve my DD! :smiliedance:

Nicole...I have a feeling that the bloods will show you have Od. When i was on Clomid, theyd make me have regular BTs and then when my LH was at a peak they would call me and tell me to BD. We conceived on my second cycle of clomid.
Did they call you and tell you you're about to O and to BD????

nicoleE

hi cmd's mum

On my Friday bloods (im having them about every 2 days) they said i would be likely to O over the weekend and to BD... (we of course did 3 times - busy weekend for us :o )
I went back this morning for another BT to confirm if I did or not, the nurse said she thinks I did as my previous results looked like I was about to but I will find out later on today for sure and if I didnt they will get me back in either this afternoon or tomorrow morning for a trigger injection.

I am pretty confident that I have though... now we just need conception! :fingerscrossed:

I want to thank EVERYONE for your interest in my journey. It is really nice to know that other people, complete strangers infact, care. :hugs:

Hey Nicole :fingerscrossed: you wont need a trigger injection and that you have conception happenning right now :yelclap:

Well they rang back and I O'd all by myself :D .. (ok after Clomid gave me the mature follicle! )

They think it was most likely Friday, although Im not sure how they can tell that... They said my progesterone levels were 2.6 on Friday and today were 7.9 which they said was good and definately indicated I ovulated.... (I think they said they have to at least double to indicate it)

I was kind of hoping I did on Saturday or even Sunday as our BD'ing would have been better for that... (sorry if this is TMI but someone might be able to shed some light on this..)

We BD'd:
* Last Monday (5 days before O) - I guess they could still be alive? slight chance though
* Friday night - spot on O (actually it was 2am Sat morning!)
* Sunday morning (10ish) and Sunday night - I assume these were too late!?

Thanks again everyone...
I plan on testing early starting from Friday! :p

no the last 2 BD would have been fine too, cos the egg sticks around a day or two after o anyway. :fingerscrossed:

YAY i am so happy you o'd on your own, WAHOOO.. so you are 3 DPO, only 4 days till you start testing right :p

the last monday night one could have been too early, but there could have been some girl spermies hanging around for you too :yelclap: its not impossible

lol doula i wont tell hubby that as he wants a boy!
we were going to follow the shettles method before we found out we had fertility problems.. i then warned him we wont really be able to... although i think the chances are still good the way this has turned out... but at this stage we just want a healthy baby firstly! :fingerscrossed:

I thought that the egg only asted about 12 hours after ovulation? (unless its fertilised of course)

luckymama
21-08-2006, 16:14
oh doh i think you are right, i was thinking more like 48 hours, but i just read 24  its the sperm that can last up to 5 days :fingerscrossed:
ooh i am soo excited, i wish you could just buy clomid over the counter so you dont have to go to the dr  oh well ill see how i go for a few more months

nicoleE
21-08-2006, 16:23
are you having trouble ovulating doula?

i would recommend to not wait if you think there may be something a-miss.... I went to my GP after 3 months demanding blood tests for PCOS as both my older sisters have it and I wanted to know if I did because I was not ovulating (or having any type of bleeding) at all... glad i did or there would still be no end in sight for my untra long cycle... looks like I finally ovulated on day 163!

I will sprinkle some baby dust thoughts your way to! :hugs: :fingerscrossed:
