I just noticed my 3mnth DD is getting a little birthmark on her upper leg, I kinda hope its not going to be a big dark one ( i know that is kind of vain & there are so many other things that could be worse).:o
Does your bubba have a birthmark? Whereabouts?
Does it bother you?

my dd has a birth mark on her foot :)
it doesn't bother me
My DD has a dark birthmark on her calf down near her ankle. It looks like a mole and is about half the size of my pinky fingernail. I love it because it is part of her, it doesn't bother me at all.

My DS1 has a big birth mark on his tummy. It has got darker as he has got older. It doesn't bother me, if it was on his face it might, but it's on his tummy, so only a few people (hopefully) with see it:p
my ds doesnt but i have one on the back of my leg, it doesnt bother me anymore, i used to want it to be removed

Yep, DD has like a brown blotch on her right bum cheek(about the size of a 20c piece), just like me, my mum and my sister. Wierd but we all have the exact same shape blotch in the exact same place.

Same but my DD's is about the size of a 5c coin, i thought it was a bruise but it never went away.
She was also born with that red mark between her eyes but it has just about faded away

DD1 has a small one the back of her thigh, kind of like a mole, but lighter. DD2 has a very light one (almost invisible) on her forehead, near her hairline. People have asked me if its an old bruise....Neither of them bother me at all.
I have a huge one (about 1/2 my palm), but but very light on the side of my back, kind of above my hip. I hated it when i was younger, wearing bikinis etc, and now that its faded heaps, i don't wear bikinis anymore! Typical! I have a few other smaller ones too.....
Hey, so do I! Mine is on the right. What side is your DS?
hmm now you have me thinking ~!~ she isnt here so i cant check lol i think its on the left side!!

Brooke has 3. She has a bright red one on her back that is raised. As a baby, it would always go bright red and a lot thicker when she was upset, lol.She has a huge brown one on her hip....about the size of a small mobile phone. And she had another small brown one, about the size of a pea, on her forearm.
Matthew has 2. An itty bitty red one at the top of his butt, and a small brown one on his forearm.
DD1 has 2, she has a small one the size of a 20c coin on her backside and a huge one on the back of her left leg. The one on her backside is insignificant but I feel that later in life she might become selfconscience of the one on the back of her leg, it covers about a third of the back of her leg and is directly behind her knee stretching up and down the leg.
My opinion is that she is the one who has to live with it not me and so if at some stage she wants to remove it then I will make that happen.
I wont mention it to her for fear of planting the thought in her head and let her approach me.

DD had a strawberry on her face (her right cheek). It was growing everyday and people were commenting, saying nasty stuff (I cant beleive people would say nasty stuff about a 4 months old).
I took her to a dermatologist lazer therapist and he had a good look with a special instrument and saw it had veins coming out of it and it was going to grow to a 50 cent peice size within weeks.
So we had 3 or 4 lazer treatments on it. It shrunk it dramatically and it also faded it. Now its barley even there. Its nearly skin colour.
So she had that therapy at about 4 months old. She is now 14 months.
I am so glad I did it. I didnt want her picked on with this big 50cent peice raised strawberry birthmark. They can last up to 10yrs.

That's what Brooke had on her back, it was about the size of a 20 cent piece. Hers started fading when she was about 5. It is almost totally gone now and I do miss it. but if it had been on her face, I too would have had it removed.

Yes I thought it was necsasary to get it removed I didnt want her bullied.
It cost $300 a treatment but it was well worth it.
Anything for our beautiful princess.

None of my kids have a birth mark. My sister was born with a 'strawberry' on her hand but it disappeared  she had it for a good 3 years.
Wow, its funny so many of them have them on their bums!:) DD was also born with a red mark inbetween her eyes that took about a year to go. I think these are called stork marks.... I had a strawberry birthmark on the side of my head when i was born till when i was 4. It grew really big, mum nearly decided to get it taken off but then it just stopped growing, faded away over the years and now its hardly noticable because my hair covers it and its so small.:yelclap:
Azalea has a tiny light brown one on her shin just below her knee. I love it I think it's cute.
EJ has a small olive skin coloured spot on the back of her knee - my BF has a similar spot in another place.
Emily has 2 little link ones on her right knee, they go purple when she is cold and bright red when she is sick.
Kailah has none.

No and I am actually disappointed. Every female in a particular line of my family has had a brown circular birthmark on the outside of their left wrist (myself included) going back for a couple hundred years (good documentors my family). So I was disappointed when DD didn't have one.
DD was born with 2 mongolian spots.
1- on her chin (thankfully went before we left the hospital)
2- a larger one on her back, over her toosh.
The big one is growing with her, but getting lighter. It actually looks like a bruise, so we get lots of sus looks when she goes swimming or when she first started childcare.
DS has a normal dark spot on his lower leg. Nothing compared to his sister's.
i had a small red dot on my left cheek when i was a baby. it has faded now but i can see it around my birthday. the rest of the year it is invisible.
That's amazing, I didn't know birthmarks did that!
DD1 has a small one on her bum, DS has one on his forehead (has faded a lot though and is tiny) and DD2 has a small one below her right knee. I love them :D

None here. Pity, I think they can be sooo cute!
My MIL stopped having children because the port wine birthmarks were bigger with each child (she had 3) and the last one has one over a large part of her body. She only ever wears pants (even in the heat of summer) and lace up shoes and has never learned to swim. They also have had minimal photo's taken as children because of the marks.. But you know what, that doesn't sit too well with me... I LOVE my DH's fam, I really do, but it's like the girls were raised to look nice and cover flaws and strive for perfection as a woman for marriage purposes. One of the girls is 27 and unmarried and the family are 'so sad' for her and always imply that she needs to do more to appear attractive because of the birthmark.
Huh???
My DD has the exactly the same as her dad, they both have a red wine stain on the naop of their necks. which really surprised me. but i love that they have the same!
also, she has a large brown freckle type on her belly and my other 2 kids have the exact same one/shape on them but it different places on them :p

DD's has a couple of pink spots around her hairline. They're all different shapes and sizes...but none of them are bigger than say...a pea. You can't really see them anymore because her hair covers them. I had a pink birthmark on my head when I was a baby (obviously, I've never seen it).
I wonder what DD will have in hte way of freckles and moles when she's older...I have a few light freckles here and there...but NO moles what-so-ever (but everyone else I know has them...).

Wow....that is sad, they obviously put a lot of emphasis on it when they were kids, which would have to have affected their self esteem, that is so sad that the family thinks that way.

Going off topic here (sorry), but a few people on a cleft support group I used to belong to were saying that their parents didn't take photos of them as kids. Apparently it was because they didn't look "normal" and were ashamed of their children, as were the rest of society. It seems that this stopped happening as often around 15-20yrs ago.

C has one on her left leg just under her knee, it came up about a month or 2 after her birth! but it was a little lower....hrmm maybe by the time shes adult it will be way up on her hip or something!!! hahahahahaha ;) :p
my DS has one on his upper back, under his shoulder blade. weirdly i have on in the same spot and the same shape. when i first realised he had it, my first reaction was 'well theres no losing this kid' and i think its cool how we both have the same one.
i would only get it removed if it was danger to his health (sun damage etc).

This is quite strange but DD & DS both have the same mark on the back of their necks like a red rash. It's covered by their hair, so I don't have any problems with them.

My oldest doesn't have one (born via emergency c/s), but DS2 has one (Vbac) - wonder if there is anything in that???!!
Anyways, DS2 has one at the base of his spine, on his upper bum in the shape of a diamond (very cute). When he was born I thought it was poo and tried to wash it off :D
I'm not particularly worried about it at this point, but he has had an x-ray done on it because it's on his spine (on the advice of a paed.), but it all checked out fine.
Yes, both my boys do.
I didn't even know my DS#1 had a birth mark until I took him along to a MCHN appoint not long after he was born. Of course, I was so upset as I hadn't even noticed it!! It was on his back. It's called a strawberry neva (sp??) and will apparently get larger then it will get smaller and disappear, prob before he hits teenager hood!!
My DS#2 has a light birthmark on the back of his neck. It's the same as his aunties actually....special!! He also has the tiniest of tiny strawberry neva (sp??) on his leg. It just looks like a little scratch.

DS#3 has one of his forehead thats quite big but its not raised at all, just like the skin is another colour... it is pink/red depending on what mood he is on or if hes warm or not.
Its shaped like a squiggle sorta resembling harry potters mark.... the older kids love it and call him harry :D
i just commented today to my friends how much it has grown on me... i used to worry about it, now i think its just georgeous :)

My lil man has a little strawberry mark on the back of his neck. Doesnt bother me at all as i know kids wont tease him about it when hes older as his hair will cover it up. Plus its not that noticeable, its more a light pink.
She was also born with that red mark between her eyes but it has just about faded away
My DD had this too,in the same spot, and has also faded away to almost nothing.:)

My 2 girls both had a strawberry birthmark on their lower backs in the exact same spot. Jessi`s has now gone, and Tiah`s is starting to fade also. Jess has a small brown one under one foot and Tiah has a small brown one on her ankle. They don`t bother me at all. Zaq hasn`t got one, when he was born I kept checking his lower back for the strawberry mark but it never showed up, I was sure he was going to get one like his sisters! ;)
Tommy has one, a small patch on the back of his neck, had it since the day he was born, it has faded since birth and now covered with hair but still visable if you look for it!

My DS doesn't have a birthmark.
Bug has 3. Two of them consist of pale red spots on her scalp so you cant see them under her hair. The third is a little pale red mark right between her eyes. Most people dont even notice it as she has a blotchy complexion anyway.
I also have 3. Two of mine are matching light brown marks on the inside of my legs, just above my ankles. The third is a big white mark on my left thigh. And I hate it.

Oliver has a little stork bite on his eyelid...right in the corner.
Ive been told that they fade away by themselves eventually. It doesnt bother me at all though. If it doesnt fade and it worries him when he gets older its in such a place that a little bit of concealer would cover it up and no one would ever know! :D
