View Full Version : Nambour Selangor
Hi everyone
I have just found out that I am 5 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I have been thinking about birthing at the Nambour Selangor because of it's wonderful reputation rather than North West Private which is closer.
Has anyone had any recent experiences at Nambour Selangor (positive or negative)?
I will have to travel about 1hr 20min to get there. Do you think this is too far to go? I live just north of Brisbane. This will be my first labour.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated:)
I've considered selangor as well, I'm only 5
Mins from north west and was more than happy to drive the distance.
Have you considered rbh birth centre as an option too? I'm assuming youre looking at selangor for the natural birthing approach and water birth facilities? I went through the bc with dd2(unfortunately had a CS), but the care I received from my midwives was second to none.
Best of luck deciding and congratulations on your bfp!
I second the birth centre idea  Might be worth putting your name down and seeing what happens, they are awesome there :yelclap:
I haven't birthed at Selangor myself but several very good friends have - one just last week for the third time and have loved every minute, especially being able to waterbirth. Northwest has a shockingly high C-Section rate but everyone I know who has been there have been happy with the service.
I had my little girl at Selangor - Oct 2009. They were great!! It was my first birth and I would definately recommend them and go back again. No rush to leave once you have given birth, we had trouble feeding and had a lot of help and support.:flowerz:
Congrats on your pregnancy. Selangor is fantastic! I had my 2nd DS there in March this year - I picked an extremely busy day to go into labour 2 weeks early. I had a very quick drug free water birth which was beautiful, but then had some complications and had to have the placenta removed in surgery under a general. I have to say everyone there was so helpful and nice. I really couldn't fault them, despite how busy they were at the time. Plus the birthing suites are amazing. Good luck with making your decision :)
Hi and congrats! I also had my first at Selangor last Oct and it was great. I agree with azzag - there was no pressure for me to leave which was great for establishing feeding. The staff were great, midwives really nice and the birthing facilities were tops (although DH thinks there should be TV's in the delivery rooms... we had a 32hr labour!!)
There were quite a few ladies in my ante-natal class who travelled a fair distance to go there - one even from Hong Kong.
I beleive they do tours - might be worth having a look so you can evaluate your options. Good luck with your decision.

Sorry to burst in here but I'm very interested in using this bc and was wondering what the costs involved were for nambour selangor.
