You probably save 10 to 20 dollars a pack. Personally i would pay more and get what i want.

I don't think you would be saving very much, maybe a few dollars. I find I get a better deal from a wholesaler rather then a butcher.
They could be if the meat quality is good. Are you familar with this butcher? Do they usually have good quality meat?
Just check the mince grade, make sure it is reasonably lean and likewise with the sausages otherwise you could end up with both being full of gristle. Ask if the Chicken Schnitzels are breast or thigh as thigh can be a little fatty and therefore less meat for your money (but still tasty nonetheless!). If they are using cheaper cuts of meat overall, the value is not that good.

yeah it is good meat. For 2 people, how long would these packs last???
I am finding our groceries really expensive and i need to get it under control and organised. I have stopped shopping at woolies ect. And only go to fruit markets, butchers and aldi.
I live in a pretty poor socio-economic area and it really does make a difference in price where i shop.
Depends on how much you and your DH eat! I buy bulk packs from a wholesaler and it usually lasts anywhere from 2-4 weeks for a family of 3. DS2 just watches and drools (no teeth). :D
Make a rough meal plan up and work out which pack suits best. Then divide each meal into how many portions you think you'll get from it and what you can freeze and that will give you some idea of how long it will last for both of you and which is the most economical! Does that make sense or do I sound deranged? :detective:

What type of mince is it? Is it like, fatty low-quality mince, or lean mince?
I mean, even just looking at Woolies, if you want the lean mince, you're looking at $7-ish for 500g... or $3.50-ish for the fatty low-quality mince.
FWIW, I would never buy crumbed meat. If you pull the crumbs off it, it looks all brown and old and gross. I think that's one way they can flog off older meat - to crumb it so you can't see how gross it's gone.
I'd say it's an okay deal, but you can probably do better by buying the bits and pieces you want.
I can get extra lean mince at my local butcher - $16 for 2kg of it. That makes 4 meals (each with 4 servings).
Sausages can be gotten really cheaply - if you buy a big bulk pack at Woolies they're cheap as - but those are really fatty.
Chops aren't terribly expensive. You'd probably have 1 or 2 chops a person at dinner (depending on how much you guys wanna eat, and what type of chops really).
Are you gonna wanna live on mince, sausages and chops for most of the week? That's the question I'd be asking.
Our family will eat mostly chicken... but we do have beef/pork sausages, pork cutlets on occasion, and beef/pork mince... so buying butchers packs go to waste for us, because I'd have to force myself to find some way to use the chops/steaks... we're not really into that sort of food generally.
I guess if that's what you guys would normally eat, then it's a good deal. If you'd rather be eating something else, then just look around.
Getting meat when it's marked down is always good - and buying in bulk.

monday- tacos-500g mince, tomatoes, cheese, lettuce, onions, taco sauce
tuesday- BBQ lamb chops- 6 chops, salad and chips
wednesday- crumbed steak- 2 CS, vegies, mash and garlic bread
Thursday- Spag Bol- 500g mince, mushies, frozen vegie, tinned tomato, onion, tomato paste., small salad, garlic bread.
Friday- Sausage sandwiches- 4 sausages, fresh breadrolls, onion.

they are 'decent' but there are quite a few places far better then that, 2 near me, 1 near(ish) you and one a bit further out near the little harbor bridge (yeah, i forget the name of the town)

I buy our meat in meat packs or from the good quality wholesale butcher which is really cheap.
Depending on if I remember to go to the butcher who does meat packs this is what I can get.
$25 Meat Pack
1kg marinated steak (top quality not gristly bits)
1kg sausgages
1kg mince
1kg chops (can be marinated)
6 rump shaslicks
10 rissoles
$25 Chicken Pack
1kg breast fillets
1kg breast schnitzels
2 roast chickens (medium sized)
and something else but i forget what - some chicken breast thing
We get about 19 - 20 meals out of the 2 packs. So ours tend to last for 3 weeks. $50 is a bargain in my book for meat!! When I have forgotten to get meat and get it from the supermarket my shopping bill ends up being HUGE!!
From our wholesale butcher I can generally get 14-16 meals worth for $40. So I try and go to the one who does packs.
