i have to do a 3 week work placement in november for my certificate 3 in childrens services and i have been thinking of places i would be intrested in going to work at. the placement can be done in 1 week if you have time as we need 60 hours but i am doing it 3 days a week over 3 weeks like everyone else :)
i want to do it ds's wednesday/friday daycare its a small not for profit centre. i spoke to my trainer yesturday about the possibilty and she said i woul dhave to talk to the course co-ordinator about it, but she was sure that the centre would probably put me in a different room to ds1 which i think is fair enough coz he would follow me around all day if i was in his room lol
would it be wise to do a placement at the same centre my ds goes to?

i personally wouldn't because I wouldn't want my DD getting distracted by me

My sil and a friend of my hubbys both worked at centres where their kids were. They were in different rooms, but I think you'd have to be so it would be fair to them and the other kids.

as long as you were in different rooms it wouldn't be a problem.

ds1 is in the babies room which is in the frount of the building and the toddlers room and kinder room and 3-5 yr old room are towards the back of the building so ds wouldnt see me till i pick him up if i was to do my placement there.they also have seperate playgrounds for each room so there wouldnt be a chance he would see me playing with other kids and get cranky lol
i would prefer to be in a different room all the staff in the babies room are really familiar and so are all of ds's little friends and a few are clever enough to realise their parent comes after me so they start to want to get ready for home when i show up lol

i think if your in different rooms then you wouldnt have a problem. It could also be interesting to see what happens and how you could cope for a day in the SAME room as him.....good luck on your placement!

60 hours?! I have to do 100 hours!! that so not fair

Hmmm :detective: I wouldn't do it in the same centre as my child, because even if you were in different rooms, your son would more than likely still be aware that your around, and want to follow you, or get stressed because he knows your in another room and he cant be with you... iykwim?

But then again... it would be good to go to a centre that you are already sort of familiar with... so maybe i would do it... :D

Sorry no help from me really... lol
