Hi everyone,

My name is Jane and I am a 43 year old, 1st year student of Bachelor of Midwifery at ACU, Melbourne. I have 6 children of my own and am passionate about my new career!
As a requirement of the course we undertake a number of “Follow through Journeys” with pregnant women and their families. With the support of a midwife mentor we are given the opportunity to learn by being involved with expectant women, attending antenatal appointments, birth classes, births and post natal appointments. The level of involvement is entirely up to you. As a student midwife I can offer one to one support, research any questions you may have under the guidance of my mentor and the university.

I live in East Malvern and am more than willing to travel to appointments.
If you are at all interested in having a student midwife involved in your pregnancy please don’t hesitate to contact me via email if you have any questions.

Looking forward to hearing from you

Kind regards
Jane

Hi Jane,

I have just found out I am pregnant and have been thinking about having a student midwife through my pregnancy. At what stage do you begin the program with someone who is pregnant? I am due July 28. Would be great to meet up.

Kind regards,

Natalie

Hi Natalie,

Congratulations!!!
Thanks so much for your response. The program is best suited for women who are between 16 and 35 weeks pregnant. If you are at all interested I am more than happy to catch up for a coffee and explain the program in further detail, answer any question etc.. Maybe let me know your availability when you have a chance.

Kind regards
Jane

Hi MummaDeet

Not sure how long your program runs for but my hubby and I are about to move to Melbourne and I will definitely be looking for some support once I'm down there. I'm currently 7.5 weeks (due 16th July), first pregnancy. By the time we get to Melb (Probably Jan/early Feb) I will be much closer to 16 weeks, everything going well. Do you work in a particular hospital?

My brother in law lives in Malvern East and its likely we'll be looking at a place fairly close to them.

Let me know if you think my timing would be suitable and I can get in touch in January when we move down.:)

Hi Sunnygirl,
Congratulations! Such an exciting time..
I am a student midwife and as such we undertake a number of "follow through journeys" with pregnant women. Very basically we are there as support for you and it is entirely up to you as to how involved you would like me to be. It's a learning experience for me but having said that I am supported by a midwife mentor who would meet up with us both and be able to answer any questions you and your partner may have. I have had clinical placement this year in Bendigo, mainly birthsuite but some antenatal and postnatal as well. Next year I will be in a Melbourne hospital (having already completed my country placement). Have you chosen a model of care yet? Feel free to send an email me if you have any more queries.
P.S East Malvern is lovely and pretty central to both Tertiary and Private hospitals.
Kind regards
Jane
