Home made tooshie wipes... :-)

I am very proud to announce that I am no longer using the disposable nappy wipes. I made my own and use them. I figured out what it costs me a year in wipes... $240!!!! So I am saving not only the environment but lotsa moula!!!!

what sort are you using?

I bought some from Sandra's stuffables which are great!! Then I bought a 10 pack of thin baby washers. They are great too. :)
I just boil water & put a squirt of baby wash in it. Works a treat.

I am using nappy liners and chux wipes believe it or not!!! They are very soft and I can throw them in the wash. CHEAPER than chips!!! Once they get a bit worn I can use them for cleaning! (not the dishes of course, but the loo and bathroon) and DH can use them as grease rags lol.

I have been using cooled boiled water with camomile tea, smells lovely!!!

Cool. I was using cammomile tea for a bit too..... the baby wash cleans up better I found. But it did smell good you are right!!

I am just sooooo proud!! DH thought I was going wacko!!! he said he hates the idea of reusing them... but then I said what if I was using cloth nappies??? They poop and everything on that and you wash and reuse them????? You were in cloth doe doe head!!! He just shook his head and laughed at me! He has not been 'recycling' the poopey ones though, will have to get in his ear more huh??!!

Yeah my dh is a tad grossed out by it too.. but I said to him.. whats better? $10 per fortnight in our pockets & no nappy rash, or $10 towards huggies & bad nappy rash.....

I have started using cloth wipes too - I can't believe I was ever using the disposible ones! I just got a 6 pack of the vileda yellow & green fabric kitchen wipes and cut them into quarters. They are great as they are just the right thickness, wash really well and are cheap!

What a great idea - you have me in too kriso. Spotlight sell good size thin washers in a pack of six, i have some for e in the bath but think i may get more for his bum bum. Do you still use dispo's when u go out?

I'm using cheap, thin flannels from Big W ($8/12 I think.. something like that.) They're FANTASTIC!
Chris won't use them, :rolleyes: instead using 2 or 3 huggies wipes at a time when I use ONE cloth wipe, to grab ALL of the poo (and not spread it like the huggies ones)

I still use disposable ones when I go out and beside the bed for night time changes, but the change table is stocked with washable wipes :D

Otherwise keep a look out anywhere your out & about like Spotlight etc cause you can find great specials on facewashers quite often !
