Ok, for those of you who had or have GD I would like to know when you were delivered.

I had DD in a public hospital. I had diet controlled GD and was advised right from the diagnosis that the hospital recommended induction at 38weeks for GD mums due to the risk of the placenta becoming less effective after this time. I ended up having a c-section at 38weeks as they wanted to induce but bub was in an unfavorable position to deliver naturally.

When I was pregnant with DS I had more severe GD and was taking 120units of insulin a day (and increasing each week)...I was also through a public hospital then (as there is no private hospital nearby) I assumed that as I had opted for a repeat c-section I would be done at 38weeks again. But this hospital insisted that it was NOT their policy to deliver before the due date so after much arguing from me (as I really felt that my baby and I would be much better deliverd at 38weeks) My c-section was booked for 40+2. I ended up going into natural labour at 38+4 and it was a huge rush to get me to theatre, hook up the necessary dextrose/insulin infustion and get a paed there for the delivery - My baby had to be admitted to special care nursery.....

The private OB delivers c-sections at 38weeks even with no medical problems and wont let a GD pregnancy progress past 38weeks - So I'm not sure why the public hospital would not permit me to deliver before my due date.

I am wondering if you were induced early with GD and if Public vs Private makes a difference in this instance....

hi
im in public
i have gd this pregnancy and am on a heap of insulin too. ive been told i will be induced at 38 weeks. i actually dont want to be induced so i am fighting it a bit, but there rule is generally u cant pass ur due date at all, and if u are on insulin and baby is measuring humongous, then 38 weeks

I had diet controlled GD which i was pretty good with keeping the BSL's below seven, and i was told at 39 weeks we'd look into booking in my induction at my next appt (40 weeks) my hospitals policy was to deliver at 40 weeks or there abouts. My waters broke without contractions the next morning( at 39+1), i was induced the day after. I went public.

hi there,
both my previous babies i had gd, so they are assuming this time i will have it with this preg..... i gave birth at a public hospital.... my dd1 came 2 wks early anyway so i didnt have to worry about something like that....
my dd2 was overdue, on my due date appt i had a diff ob and she was a bit worried about how big bub was as she said bub felt HUGE, she sent me for a u/s and they got an estimated weight of 8lbs so she wasnt that worried and let me go on.... i went into labour 2 days earlier (40+2) had an emergency c-sec and delivered a 9lb 2oz baby..... the public hospital i go too basically let u wait it out till the due date, if bubs feels big at 38 wks they send u for a u/s and go from there.

Hi ,
I had GD, diet controlled. I was in a public hospital and i was induced at 40+5. They wanted to do it at 40+2, but as that was Christmas Day, they said i could go a couple more days. I was praying to go into labour naturally in those few extra days, but it just never happened. So was admitted at 40+4 and had my waters broken etc the following day.

My GCT came back high at 8.5 so have been sent for the second one which i go for on friday and was told if it comes back positive they will induce me at 37 - 38 weeks i also have a sizing scan on friday as my fundal is measuring 2.5cm above what it should. I am in public basically the mid wife said they will not deliver me above 9pound so it will be def 37 or 38 weeks

I had GD with my first however my plcenta did start shuting down at 35 weeks and was an emergemcy to get him out at 37 weeks so I kinda belive in the early induction deal I did however have my ds by c/section.
my dd I didn't have GD but she was a c/sec at 38 weeks due to my own issues and joints giving way.
So I can see this new bub whether I have GD or not coming out at 38 weeks.
I'm private and it wasn't my dr policy to induce early he was just all about haveing scans weekly in office and going in for NST to catch any issues before they became a problem but he woulld let you go to term with a GD baby
