What does your child weigh? I use the Baby Bjorn Active carrier and I wonder if that might be a better option for a bigger baby as it has extra back & shoulder support to distribute the weight. My 5.5 month old is only 6.5 kg but I use it when we go for walks all the time and I find it very comfortable. I think it take babies up to 12 kg. Haven't used a Hug-a-Bub so unfortunately can't give you any advice on that.

I adore my Hugabub and use it all the time. BUT-Hamish is getting a bit heavier and he is nearly 8 months. I find if I have him in it I can't exert myself like I used to. What about a back carrier? I just bought one so that DH can do some of the carrying when we go hiking.:)

The H.a.b is the best carrier in the world  because it is designed for babies up to 2 years old! I used to carry my 12 kilo son in it for hours- although of course it was easier when he was only 4 k's!
There have been many threads on h.a.b's- do a search or look at the Maternity Products/Recommendations threads. There is nothing else like them!
the hug a bub DVD says up to four years!! i guess it depends on how heavy they get, and how big you are. there is a website www.mobywrap.com which is just like the hug a bub and shows a ton of different ways to tie it on, including on the back

Ah yes, that's right, four years. You can tie it so that they sit supported on your hip. I've never tried that one! But it would be a great idea for days when your toddler is sick or something and in need of extra cuddles while you get stuff done.

Look at an Ergo, or a Patapum. Better for older babies and children, and can front or back carry. Will take far more weight than other front carriers ans are safer and better ergonomically designed for the wearer and the child.

There's a great website called http://www.wearyourbaby.com which has video instructions on different holds for all different types of slings. The HAB can be tied so baby is on your back, if bubba is heavy then that m ight be a better option?
