Could first opinion be wrong??

Hey ladies,

I had a gender scan done at 16wks (bc Im super impatient).

The sonographer told me that its a boy and TBH, this was what I thought when I first saw it as well as there is something protruding.

I showed another sonographer today and she is claiming that it could be a girl??
She said that at 16wks their genitalia is still forming and that pink bits (excuse the pun) can protrude at this point also. She seems to think that for a blue bit, it isnt as 'defined' as it could be.. either bad angle, photo or a very little boy :laughing:

what do you all think...Ever heard of this before? now Im confused :confused:

Anything is possible scans are not 100% accurate, although with my boys (I have 7) the scan was always spot on:yelclap:, but with my dd's they were a little harder to tell, I had to wait until after 22wks for them to get a better picture, maybe go for a 3d scan at around 25wks that should give you a definite answer.

There is a really good site showing how similar the genders look around the 12-16 week mark, I just can't find it.

I think they are more likely to be wrong early on personally but you never know - they have certainly been wrong at 20 weeks before!

I can agree with the second opinion but then looking at that site, its somewhere between them both. Not as 'obvious' as the boys on that site but def more protruding than the girls?!?!

I did but I am absolutely hopeless at looking at scans!! You would think after 5 bubs I would have some idea, but nope! I don't even know what part of the baby I am looking at! Hopefully someone else will be able to help! :hugs:

I had mixed reaction when I saw your scan, it does look like a boy, I went and had a look at my youngest sons 21 wk scan and it looks similar, but girls have I think it is a 3 layer look, they used to call it a cheeseburger look:o
I would go and have the 3d scan done that will put your mind to ease.:yes:
