Help?!?!?!?!

Hi everyone, I don't know if anyone can help me with this but I thought Id ask. OK here it is:

Well my brother is in NSW in the army, he wants us to buy this laptop for him. The problem is he is with a tasmanian bank so he cant just walk into a bank get out $4000 (as he is in NSW) and then go put it in my bank account. He doesn't have Internet banking so he cant transfer it that way either.

So we have no idea how he can get the money out and to me, Ive rang his bank and they said there is nothing they can do as to set something up like Internet banking, transfers he'd need to go into the bank (but he cant as he is not in tassie:mad: ).

So if anyone know what we can do can you please help us out?

Also any suggestions would be good. Its so annoying as before he went I said to him Oh you better get a new bank account with a Australia wide bank and he said nah I cant be bothered with that. Silly boy!!!

Depends on how quickly you need the money?
You can send money to one another through paypal. www.paypal.com.au (http://www.paypal.com.au)
You would each need to register (it's free) and then you both need to add your bank accounts which can take about a week to complete.
Once it's done, he can send money instantly through paypal from his bank account to your paypal account. You then transfer it out of paypal to your bank account. Transfers are free for amounts over $150.
I use this method with my family in UK, it's great for sending money for birthdays etc and for when they come here on holidays.

They're idiots....before we went on our honeymoon we went to them to see if we could access our money in Qld, "Of course you can!" they said....

Well we couldn't....until two days before we flew home!

I can't remember how we finally got it to work....something about how I had to open up some special account and link it to my keycard...but for that you had to actually go to the bank!...after some smooth talking they allowed us to fax a signed application/permission for them to do it.

Also if your brother is in NSW for some time he might be able to change his normal card to a 'visa' card which are accepted at 'reditellers' (a brand/company of bank tellers).

Try popping in to an Australia Post office....I think they let us transfer money at one stage.

Just be thankful you're not on an island in Qld which doesn't even have a pay phone :laughing: ....

Thanks for the replies guys. He's with B&E. Its so annoying, he is going into the Aus post today to see if they can do something, as apparently with certain banks you can use something called BANK@POST.

ring up aust post see if his bank is one of the ones that does bank@post as not all banks do it. and to do it he needs a atm card (thats what i was told when i wanted to do banking there and didnt have my card on me lol)
