Hey Guys

You beat me to this room. I emailed Puk last night requesting a 20 somethings room - didn't feel like I fitted in with Young mums as its more dominated with teenage mums (not that there is anything wrong with that) and definitely not thirty yet.

My name is Cynara I am 24 in September and will be 24 weeks pregnant on my 24th birthday :). As my sig says below I am getting married next year and we were going to TTC on the honeymoon but this little girl decided she had to be part of the bridal party too.

Hope you are all happy with the new room - hope I haven't stepped on anyones toes from Young mums. I haven't been a member for long so I hope I didn't upset anyone :)

Maybe I'm attempting a pathetic bid to recapture my youth. While I despise the OC (to all those that like it ... tough :p :D ), I am utterly obsessed with Veronica Mars. Its smart and fresh and almost Buffy-like (except the lack of monsters but I suppose we can't have everything).

I feel a bit of a sad-case rushing to the TV on Friday nights to watch a show about kids ten years younger than me ... :o

Sorry chickie, but even though there are some lovely teenagers here (bless them) there is no way I could have any sort of regular chats with most of them, all the 'hunnies' 'boi's' and 'gorguz' would drive me crazy! This must be a new section. I remember looking at the Young Parents or the 30 something parents sections and not knowing where I fit in although, age isnt an issue to me as I can get along someone as long as we have something in common. So thats easy on BubHub. Anyway, Im 27 and expecting my first baby due in 7.4 weeks. Cant wait to meet my beautiful daughter!

WHAT??!!  Never heard of Jump street??!!!! :shame: I remember staying up late just to see it!!! Johnny Depp was the biggest hunk!!! I will see if I can edumacate you a bit more........

21 Jump Street is about a group of under-age looking cops who go undercover at high schools to catch young criminals before they become older, more dangerous criminals. In later seasons, the team went less and less undercover on high schools, and the plots focused more on the cops' personal lives.

mum21, I wasn't actually allowed to watch 21 jump street, but I always seem to get theme music stuck in my head no matter what!!:banghead: It ran from the end of the 80's to the start of the 90's. I guess at the time you would have only been about 2:laughing: slightly too young to watch!
My mum was pretty strict on the TV side of things, we weren't even allowed to watch The Simpsons! No Neighbours or Home and Away (can't stand them anyway), we always watched Saaaaaale of the Cennnnntury! Our bedtime was 7:30pm until I was probably 13 or so. Ahhhh, those were the days!

Hi Deity! Have you tried a steamer? I've been trying to get rid of DD's cold and cough and nothing worked, so I pulled out my old steamer and today she is really good.

Oh do you mean a facial steamer? That's a great idea - it's how I got rid of my cold a few weeks ago but I never thought about putting DD to it...
I'll give it a go and see how it works :fingerscrossed:

There's even that attachment thingy used for aromatherapy or something so that would probably be better for a little bubby head.

Thanks.

Hey Nara, I tried it. It was so cute.

As I mentioned my DD is only 5 months and I don't know if you have seen the aromatherapy attachment for the facial steamers but they are quite small and you have to put your nose right to the rubber mould... well my baby was sitting there (with continual "good girl" encouragement) breathing, dribbling and I think enjoying the whole experience with her face to it like she had been doing it for years!

The excercise did not last too long so I'm not sure how effective it will be but if she's not well by tomorrow I'm going to take her to the doctors; it's been 4 days - he may be able to suggest something.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll ask about the room steamer.

Deity, I've been giggling reading your post imagining your DD with her face in the steamer!

We've have a ROOM steamer since DD1 was born. They're recommended for kids with croup, aswell as colds, etc. They usually have a bottle of 'stuff' to use with them, but I just use eucalyptus or tea tree essential oil.

Another thing to try is garlic. She's too young to eat it, but if you put a clove in each sock when she goes to bed it can help. I do it all the time. Another old wives trick, but I have to admit it actual works.

Hmm, what else? Put a couple drops of eucalyptus essential oil on her sheets before bed.

Babies tend to have colds for longer than we do so don't be too worried. So long as she's still getting plenty of milk and she doesn't have a fever, she'll eventually get over it.

I was 18 when I had DD1, but never got too many looks as I've always looked older than I am. It's when I tell ppl I have an 8 yr old and how old I am, that's when I get the  !
My bestfriend had her 1st bub last yr, 3 mths before my DD2, and she was the first person in my circle of friends/age group to have a child. I've always been out of place. All the mum's at DD1's playgroup, kindergarten and school have always been older by at least 10 yrs.

BUT, I wouldn't change anything in the world!

Mum21 - I'm sure DD1 would LOVE to do your hair! She likes to do mine with plaits and ponytails and ribbons and clips! Her plaits are pretty good actually. If i'm not going out anywhere I leave it in for the day, quite a sight if we have visitors!

DH and I love watching CSI (the original rocks, not too sure about Miami), Cold Case and Without a Trace, but must admit I never got into The OC. Also love baking (playgroup morning teas are great for trying out new stuff!) and going for long weekend runs (to work off the baked treats). Any fellow sweet tooths/runners out there?

moosmum - My nanna's choc pudding recipe is a favourite in our house. At DF's work they constantly ask him when I'm making more choc chip cookies. They steal his out of his bag! Muffins, biscuits/cookies, cakes, bring on the sweet stuff!

I like Grey's anatomy, but always forget it's on. I also keep meaning to watch Two Twisted, but it's not until I see the ad a few days later that I suddenly realised I've forgotten again.

I play netball, so that's where I do my running. Not as fit as I used to be, can't quite play a whole game at centre anymore.

gremily - Nanna's receipes at the best aren't they! My Italian nanna comes over to make traditional doughnuts with me. The amount of sugar along with the deep frying isn't exactly healthy, but they smell and taste sooo good! :smiliedance: Mum21. Hope all goes well for you!
Df and I have been together 10 yrs, engaged for 3 yrs (maybe 4, can't remember when it was!), with no immediate plans to get married anytime soon! A - there's the money issue, B - all our family and some friends are back in SA, but then we've got a whole heap of friends here, so where to have it? If we do get married, it's likely to be at the registry office, then we'd have a big party, both here and in SA!

:yelclap: Congrats Suze! How's the new bub doing? Bit of a bugger about the bag not being packed:laughing:

Gremily - Lily's doing so great! Not so new anymore though :) She's 15months this week and a handful but heaps of fun. I just love this age, where everything is so new and interesting, but they have started to pick faves from the toys and on the TV etc :) She LOVES Raggs and the Wiggles - it's about all I let her watch though. Got better things to do than watching TV all day.

My partner and I have been together 5 yrs this Nov, not married, don't plan to marry - for the same reasons as Grem. We met in Sydney, all his family's there. I come from Grafton NSW, all my family's there. And we moved to Bris a few days b4 Lily was born, so we know practically no-one! LOL We'd have to have a wedding in Perth or something, so it was fair - everyone has to travel to attend! As if we could ever afford it anyway.

CONGRATULATIONS AND GOOD LUCK to Mum21 - big day! Enjoy it :smiliedance:

 LOL!! By ur last post I was thinking you'd just given birth, didn't even look at your signature!
Re Raggs - my uncle was a puppeteer on the first season. He hated it, thought it was one of the worst jobs he's done. He hasn't gone back for the 2nd season, but his mate has. I've only watched it a couple of times, wouldn't say it's great, but it's not too bad:D

Oh, and HI to all the new 20 somethings!

Nat I know how you feel. I will be going nuts on all the baby's first christmas stuff! I wanted to get it last year but held myself back as technically it wasnt babies first christmas-just in mummy's tummy first christmas. I love everything bout it except the crowds at the shops. DH and I do christmas eve for both families at our house which is a tradition we started last year so our kids could have some special time at our house with bot families as christmas day is a shambles! from one house to another to another such a blur anyway i've blabbed on eough. Hope all is well

I layby'ed stuf for the kids (dd's and nieces/nephew) at kmart during their July sale, so it means I don't have to worry about having no money at xmas time. It's so cool seeing their facing when they find their pressies in the morning (well, I've only had that with DD1 so far, but you know what I mean;) ).

I believed in Father Christmas til I was in yr 7! My dad used to pull out all the stops - horse poo up the pathway, hay strewn around and in the water bowl. I was totally convinced his was real and used to have arguements with school friends about it:D . Needless to say I now do the same thing with DD1. The night before we get everything ready, the food and drink FC and the reindeer will need, it's such an exciting time.
When DF and I had DD1 we werent going to celebrate xmas as it's a christian thing (although it doesn't really seem to be anymore), but we ended up doing it coz it was so much fun:laughing:
