Hi, as the name suggest this is a first pregnancy for me and still trying to get my head around a lot of things!!
I'm going for my dating scan tomorrow..
YES! Finally!! Woop Woop!! :yelclap:
And then I can book my hospital from there.
I have an option of the Mercy Heidelberg and Royal Women's. I'm currently swinging towards the Mercy for no particular reason other than it's not in the CBD.
I have SIL's that have given birth at both with no complaints - they don't know I'm up the duff yet so can't ask their advisce just now.
Anyway, my question - yes there is one! I really really want to get into the family birthing center. It's not like a hospital at all - what a great environment. I don't see any reason why I'd be a high risk (I'm 25 and healthy, not overweight, no diabetes, blood pressure etc etc) so that's not an issue. But I know there aren't many rooms avail. So how do you score a spot?
I'd also like to see some of the same midwifes throughout my pregnancy if that is an option at either hosp. And don't want to feel "pressured" to leave as this is my first and want to know what I'm doing before I get the boot. - I know they'll make sure I have the basics anyway but don't want a wham bam thank you mam feeling...
So any opinions. How to get what I'm looking for, what I should say/ask when booking in and how to make the most of my care?
I'm sure experienced mum's know all the tricks!
And I do now that everything can change on the day no matter how well planned.
Please share :)
