View Full Version : At what point do you need to go for rehydration?
I'm 12w2d and still sick like there is no tomorrow. I've tried sea sickness bands and maxalon. But I'm still struggling to eat, drink and keep food down. My lips are incredibly dry(and now they're cracked), my skins all dry, I'm barely peeing(1-3 times a day), and I'm starting to think that maybe I need to think about getting rehydrated, but I don't know when or where to go or anything? Dd2 is still bf too, so i have been giving her bottle top ups to get us through.
It sounds like you might be dehydrated- go to your ED or GP.
After re hydration you'll feel a million dollars.....and hopefully the sickness leaves soon xxx
Thanks. I'll call my gp. I've also got a cold, so that's really not helping. Better getthe kids some lunch first though.
How long would I be expecting to stay? A few hours? I'm just trying to think of my kids here because I need to organise someone to look after them, to make matters worse dd2 has an ear infection and only just got over conjuctivitus, so I can only have childless people look after her.
Today is not my day!
I have been to hospy to get iv fluids 4 times this pregnancy so far as have been suffering from hypermesis since 6wks and am now 20weeks.
The longest part is waiting your turn in ER once they get you on the IV its about an hour or so per 2litres of fluid. each time i've been its been 2 bags so have been there about 3hours once i get hooked up.
Speak to your gp about trying zofram if the maxalon isn't working as thats prob what they'll give you at the hospital anyway.
OB at hospy the other week said keep a bottle of water/cordial/whatever you can drink and take a sip or 2 every 10mins...its time consuming but does get you rehydrated.
I find that i keep sports drinks down much easier than water, pink vitamin water is my fav at the moment. at the hospital they always give me lucozade at the same time as i'm on the drip so i try and keep some of that in the fridge to sip on too
oh and the times i get sent up to the hospital by my gp its because along with the constant vomiting and not keeping anything down which is becoming the norm for me. its when i get dizzy spells and low blood pressure that they do something about it.
