Hello,

Let me first introduce myself:
I am a stay-at-home-mum with 2 children (age 6 and 9) in the Netherlands (yes, far far away). And my husband is suddenly close to accepting a job in Tasmania.

I am a bit uncertain to what I am getting myself into, but I take my job as Managing Director of Our Nuclear Family very serious. So, I am searching the internet about information about Tasmania. I have found this forum :)

I have found plenty of information on real estate, education and tourism, but I would really like to talk to someone in an informal way about living there.
Like you were my nextdoor neighbour, and I would ask silly questions about swimming lessons or dentists (I saw a thread about discount stores  )

Would any of you want to email with me privately about living in Tasmania? I have lots of questions about the area between Hobart and New Norfolk.

You can email me at heelsnel@gmail.com
(this is not my regular account, so it can be here publicly)

I really hope getting to know some people over there!!!

Hi!
Thanx! Would you please sent me your emailadress? heelsnel@gmail.com

I'm looking from New Norfolk to Hobart.
(and last night I couldn't sleep :( wondering if wooden houses are safe. I saw woodburners in houses on real estate sites  Questions like that really bother me too much)

I think you would have just as much chance of your home burning down from use of an electric blanket or an electrical fault in a heater than a wood fire. We have had wood fires before and in a weather board home and never had any probs

Just keep looking around, there are newer homes that have heat pumps and electric heating if you feel safer!

Hi, everyone.

I have been busy a bit (you know what childrens birthdays can be!).
And also I got a bit overwhelmed by the emigration thingy.
But now my head and my schedule are empty again, I am starting today with my investigations :detective:

Husband is travelling on saturday (arrives on monday) and is going to look around a bit.

So, for those who sent me information, I will look at it closely today, and write to you shortly.

Hi,

we moved here six months ago from England due to my husbands work. Like you I had many questions.

We only had six weeks notice to come so many questions did not get answered before I arrived and I am still getting answers to many of them now!

It is so hard getting used to the way things works in a new country, sometimes my head just spins and sometimes I get so frustrated!

I have two children and school and a little one who is almost 2. Hopefully I can help answer a few questions for you.

Lynda x

On second thought, I think I deleted it myself. I still have the replies.

I will be writing to those who responded, again tonight. It is a bit pressing. My husband will be spending a day with a real estate agent in Tasmania next week, and I am determined to give him firm instructions about what is a childfriendly neighborhood (otherwise he'll be looking at garage size or something stupid like that, I'm sure)

I am still hoping for someone from New Norfolk to give me some info!
Please mail me at heelsnel@gmail.com

I'll keep you posted

thanx

It is going to be quite a dramatic scene in 2 hours from now.

It happens to be that my sister is having her wedding anniversary party today. So picture this....

A train platform. Two trains arrive on either side of the platform.
I get into one train with my children and we wave at daddy.
Daddy walks to the other side and gets into the other train.

Both trains start moving in opposite directions

3 x :crying: in one train

:smiliedance: in the other train

:D
