hey studying mummies
i've been toying with the idea of going back to uni (did 2 years of a degree back in canada years ago then decided to go travelling!)
a law degree keeps jumping into my head and now it won't go away.
anyone out there do this degree?
i'm in QLD and if i got in, would probably have to wait until i am a citizen. the other thing i'm wondering is if it possible to do any of it distance, as we are going to have to move to a remote community for a few years for dp's medical placement.
any info would be much appreciated:)

I've nearly finished my law degree, three subjects to go which I'm completing by correspondence. Apparently you can do the entire course by correspondence through QUT and UQ but I'm doing my subjects through another institution so not sure. If you have any queries/questions etc please let me know I'm happy to help.

I am almost finished my Law/Commerce degree. I have done mine in SA and you are not allowed to do any subjects externally there. You can arrange with the lecturer if you are lucky but not as a general rule.

I now live in Perth and am travelling back to SA to finish my Practical Legal Training as they Articles here in Perth so I can not transfer it.

Good luck if you decide to go ahead with it

Just out of interest what do you plan to do with your law degree after you have finished? Do you plan to work full-time, in what kind of practice etc?
I have really struggled since having my DS's to see what kind of career in law can be part time, provide adequate training, room for promotion and still have a really active home life. I don't think my dream job it out there

Hiya, I've got 2 years to go of my law degree, I have been studying full time for 4 years now. I'm also doing it in SA, where you cant do distance. I'm TTC #1 right now, hoping i can keep up the study and be a mummy too!
Im happy to answer any questions you have. Just remember, you need to be very patient and not mind reading, reading and more reading!

thanks girls!!
i've been checking out QUT and UQ. the biggest thing right now is having to wait until I get my citizenship. so there is a while to wait which i guess will give me lots of time to think if it is what i really want to do.
I want to get into advocacy I think. not really interested in working for a firm or anything, it is more about having a degree behind me so i can DO something about all the things that drive me crazy!

I started a law degree at SCU (Southern Cross University) and they had a distance program then (like 8 years ago). In my opinion you should GO FOR IT and I agree with Alatariel, wanting to make a difference is the passion that ignites the fire to keep going!! My best friend is from Saskatoon , I love Canadians!!!
