I agree with Shari - My Neice was asleep by the middle of the party at her's. SIL had organised oall these activities & jumping castle etc:eek: sucha waste of her $$. Georgia LOVED her cake & wore it like a badge for the rest of the time she was awake..
The smallest things for little ones are the best!!!....And the Pictures were wonderful:thumbsup:

For my sons 1st...we had a small party with close friends and family, and we got everyone to write a special message on different bits of coloured paper to make up a scrapbook, and include them with photos of the ppl....even though the MIL didn't want to do it....
Ummm, and we just made a special cake, and had a bbq lunch instead of party food, and that's about it...it was more so a celebration as proud parents as he was just happy to have so many adults to play with.....
Another idea is you can buy signature photo frames, that way everyone can sign it, and you can select a special pic from the day.........
Sory, not sure if this has helped at all but I tried my best...lol
I think 1st bday parties are probably more for adults than kids. I always did breakfast parties with just the family and maybe a couple of friends, my kids were always at their best first thing in the morning. I would just keep it simple even a bbq is fine too. HOpe you have a lovely party.

For my sons first birthday two weeks ago we had 12 kids so we played pass the parcel where every child got a prize and we hired a bouncy castle which was a great hit. I made childrens finger food and had nibbles and a bbq for the adults it was a great day that we will always remember.

yes they are certainly more for the parents then the children:yelclap:
We had emmys at a playcentre, about 27 kids ranging in ages from 3months - 5 years and (two 10 year olds) and it went really well, she didnt sleep at all and was so happy running around playing for about 4 hrs, same with all her guests. The actual party was for 2 hrs but we got there early and left later.
Im sure whatever you decide will be a great day:smiliedance:
(but when my nephew had his first birthday party, they had a jumping castle and a bbq and he slept through almost the whole thing)
DS's 1st birthday is in 25 days !!! Every Monday the mums and bubs from Mothers Group go down to the local park (Fully fenced in) and DS's birthday happens to fall on a Monday so i'm going to have his birthday then. Majority of our friends don't have kids yet, so I dont need to worry about them working. I will be providing the food - Majority for the adults as I dont think the children will be interested.
I'm not going to play any games as again I know they wont sit still long enough lol.
I'm going to attempt to make a Number 1 birthday cake also.
Hi
Just had DD first party the other weekend. Nothing fancy at all but good fun.
I cheated and got a huge no 1 cake made.
I hired toys from the toy library (big hit) and basically just did some finger food and nibbles. It was a lovely day so we were in the garden as well as indoors.
The only real expense was I got some helium baloons and some banners to decorate the house which DD loved and played with for days.
Have fun.

I agree. I think just have a small get together have a BBQ or something.
I agree first birthdays definitely tend to be more for the adults than the kids, but its still a great reason to have a huge party in order to celebrate a important milestone.
In our case with dd1 it was a good reason for family and friends to come together and spend some quality time with out beautiful bubby.
DD1 was a winter baby so it was a huge roast lunch with all the trimmings on my mothers farm, loads of things for the kids to do.
DD2 turns 1 in Dec, yay for a summer birthday, we will be back in NZ for it and have a BBQ planned at the lake.......it will be great!
we had a family BBQ for Wyatt, mind you, we still had over 50 people come!
Have fun organising the party Kelly :)
