I dangle noisy toys overhead or move them so she follows them, I talk, sing, read... But I'm getting bored lol and my arms hurt so I'm betting you folks have some more/better ideas!

i put a blanket down on grass out the back and we both lay down and look at the washing blowing in the breeze. :) well when i've been bothered doing it anyway.

to be honest ds2 generally entertains himself or ds1 entertains him, i only play with him for short periods each day, he's to busy watching his big brother to care about me!!!

ds2 loved this though.... coz he's nosey like his mum and always wants to be up :)

Ups and downs

Your baby probably won't learn to sit up (http://www.babycenter.com.au/baby/development/sitting/) for a few more months, but as her back and neck grow stronger, she's ready to practice. (As you may have noticed, she's also eager to see the world from a more upright angle.)

Skills developed: gross motor (http://www.babycenter.com.au/baby/development/motorskillsexpert/) coordination
What you'll need: no equipment necessary.

Lie your baby on her back, propped up slightly on a pillow. Sit facing her and grasp her hands firmly. Gently pull her to a sitting position, letting her head follow her shoulders, and enjoy her expression as she sees the world from this new angle. Gently lower her and repeat as long as she's having fun. As your baby gets used to this game, keep her sitting up a little longer and sing a chorus of "Michael Row Your Boat Ashore" or "Row, Row, Row Your Boat," alternately pulling each of her arms in a gentle rowing motion before lowering her back down onto the pillow.

sounds like you are doing an excellent job:thumbsup:

i think the key here is, that you are getting bored...not her?

you will blink and she will develop so fast! so try and enjoy her as a baby, the little play time and slow to her pace.

at this age the play time would probably be quite short, and for her, you are the most amazing play thing that will keep her entertained for hours. maybe you could do two sessions like you are doing for her, and then break it up with something for you?

some things that you can do for you, she will love and learn to be social etc. Like ..

- go for a walk to the library or park
-meet up with a friend for a coffee
-go for a drive to the beach
-just go for a drive and sing along to your fav cds
-have other mums over and let the bubs lie next to each other

and together for her..

-peek a boo games
-tickle her toes with different textures like a scarf.
- read a book aloud. one that you are interested in. you will enjoy it and she will just enjoy watching you and hearing your voice
- bounce on an excercise ball with her in your arms. (good excercise for you) and they like the movement
-look into a mirror. one on the floor for tummy time
-make faces in the mirror
-dance
-do some gardening and prop her up in a bouncer to watch

soon there will be so much more to do with her .just enjoy:goodvibes:

I just danced around the bedroom naked, after my shower, singing hits from the 60s, stuffing her nappies (and using the nappies as puppets hehe) and DD laughed her head off the whole time.
she also loves the baby-in-the-mirror, her dangling activity mats, the paintings on the wall, our orange&yellow skittles set etc
