:dizzy: My 7 year old has suffered eczema all his life.
I have been told time and time again that he will grow out of it but that was not good enough for me. I was up all night with him for month trying to stop him from ripping his skin off. The tops of his feet are scared because at every chance he got he would rub them on the carpet till they bleed.

I would ask for a allergies test to be done as I believed it was a reaction to something around us but was told many time he was to young and that he will grow out of it.
One day I found a new paed that was willing to listen to what I had been through and what I wanted to do to make it better.

I got the blood test done and within a week I knew what was causing his allergies.

He was off the scale for dust and dust-mites.
I had to remove the carpet in his room and the mats in the house, clean my house from top to bottom and keep it clean. Every day I get up and clean all the surfaces and floors, I vacuum twice a day and mop every second day. The bedding gets washed every second day and I use 1/3 of the amount of washing powder than recommended. I also only bath him every second day as he doesn't have enough natural oils in his body to protect his skin like ours.

I have found by changing these thing that I have now go a happy son that doesn't rip at his skin so much anymore, we do get a break out every now and again especially in winter but he now rubs it with a open hand to get the relief he needs and he even has his own ointment that he puts.

I have found that El econ works best for him, but it can be very expensive and we have just had his health care card taken off us, because he now doesn't have coverage of 75% of his body. I am not very happy with this decision, because of my hard work at keeping this house spotless as well as work, taxi, wife and with another one on the way he would still be covered head to toe with a rash.

I just needed to have my say as it has been a struggle for many years and without the support of my wonderful husband I think I could not have made it through this.

Thanks.:)

It feels amazing to finally get an answer to something thats been put aside and dismissed for so long. Good on you for finding some one who was willing to listen to you and take a chance with allergy testing.
