So, I was having this conversation with a lady that I met the other day-
She carried a child for a friend (their embryo) and instead of having the bub here, they all went to Canberra so that only the friend and her husband would be on the birth certificate- not the lady who carried the bub for them. Apparently you can do this in the ACT.

I detected a hint - just a hint- of resentment at not being acknowledged on the certificate.

I would certainly carry a child for my sister (not a friend, but that's just my choice) and I would expect that she wouldn't go to great lengths to have me omitted from the certificate- she certainly wouldn't expect me to travel interstate to birth her baby for this reason.

It REALLY got me thinking- and I have never thought about surrogacy before- when something so wonderful is done as a gift for a friend- is it wrong to kind of expect or deserve to be on the birth certificate? Because a true gift is given without the expectation of recieving anything in return, isn't it. Yet is being omitted from the certificate like having your journey and your gift also 'omitted' in the eyes of the people recieving the baby?

So what about it- Has anyone here had any relevant experiences?
If not, feel free to just share any thoughts on the matter...
