Child care benefit rebate

I need help! lol.

I didn't claim the child care rebate when I did my tax return because I didn't think I was entitled to it.

Then TODAY(friggin mid august!) I get a letter from centrelink saying that yeah, I can claim the rebate and all the info for it.

So now what do I do, seeing as this is a tax offset and I've already done my tax this year?

Did you only just do your tax returns for 04/05 (as well as 05/06)??

The letters detailing data to lodge with the 05/06 tax were initially sent months ago so wondering if yours were delayed because of 04/05 tax returns?

In answer to your query-an amended tax return is the way to go-your account should be able to do this with no probs although it's surprising he didn't query the CCB rebate part with you when he was doing it the 1st time!!!

I didn't do a tax return for 04/05 as I only just went back to work this year. I did it myself with e-tax as well. Oh well, I'll see how I go, I might give the ATO a call tomorrow or something.
