Hello,

My husband and I are about to start our first IVF cycle.

I am 42 and my husband is 51. I know this sounds odd, but we are very young personalities and are asking for any and all posts from other people around our age group.

It is scary and very worrying and would like input from anyone who could help.

Thank you so much in advance!!!

We do have children born via the usual way from our previous marriages (and they are spectacular! We love them so much!!!).

However I had a tubal ligation after my last child 13 years ago, so the IVF treatment this time.

Thank you so much for reading this thread!

:)

42mumsyd - I am not in the age group you are looking for, but I just wanted to wish you all the best.

Have you looked in the IVF section? There are many different topics including women who are doing IVF in the age range you are looking for who are supporting each other, and also general IVF topics where women of all ages offer their support. I hope you get the support you are after and your journey is a short one. There is certainly a wealth of knowledge on Bubhub :babydust2:

PS - I just looked and there is a 'IVF over 40' thread! Hope this helps you

Your support is very much appreciated. It's kind of scary doing this at our age and we are really grateful that there are people out there who are happy to chat to us.

We haven't told any of our family yet - wait until something positive happens for us (cross fingers!).

Biscotti,

Bless! Relief here. I told my boss that I was undergoing IVF to enable my leave applications to go through and the first question I was asked was..."how old are you??!!"

It was NOT meant in any derogatory way, but it is definitely something I am expecting to have to battle with these younger people.

My boss is an incredibly wonderful young man, so no insult intended or taken, but yeah...here we go... :)

Hubby and I have been away busy with work.

Well we are starting our first cycle next week and its all a bit mindblowing!

We were asked how many blasocysts we wanted implanted (1 or 2) and we just looked at each other for ages! That wasn't something we had thought about but our Dr is so incredibly amazing, he just told us to take our time and gave us privacy and time to talk about it.

We decided on two first up because I do have trouble carrying and we thought that if we were blessed with twins then that was going to be spectacular.

(although I did tease him when we came home by saying that they could both divide and we could end up with four - highly unlikely but the look on his face was priceless!)

So next week we hope I start my injections and then if all goes to plan we will have our babies implanted around 23 September. Crossing our fingers!

We want this so badly that it's been so hard to stop projecting the future.

Thank you so very VERY much for being there for us. I had no idea that there were so many beautiful, caring people out there who are supportive of us.

Bless!
